유연 기판 소재로 응용을 위한 폴리(에틸렌/프로필렌 나프탈레이트)의 치수안정성 연구 (Dimensional Stability of Poly(ethylene/propylene naphthalate) as a Flexible Substrate Application)

  • 폴리(에틸렌 나프탈레이트) 공중합체를 합성하기 위하여 에틸렌글리콜과 함께 1,3-프로판디올을 혼합사용하여 폴리(에틸렌/프로필렌 나프탈레이트)를 합성하고 이를 유연 기판 소재로 적용하기 위한 물성을 살펴보았다. NMR 실험 결과, 에틸렌과 프로필렌 segment가 함께 공존하는 폴리(에틸렌/프로필렌 나프탈레이트)가 합성되었음을 확인하였다. 에틸렌과 함께 프로필렌 segment가 존재하는 경우 합성된 폴리에스터의 결정화가 일어나지 않으며 유리전이온도와 열분해온도는 감소함을 알 수 있다. 합성된 폴리(에틸/프로필렌 나프탈레이트)의 주사슬에 에틸렌 보다 상대적으로 긴 프로필렌이 공존함에 따라 주사슬 배향이 어려워 열팽창계수가 감소함에 따라 합성 시 1,3-프로판디올 첨가에 따른 다소간의 내열온도 감소에도 저수축 유연기판 소재로 적용 가능함을 알 수 있었다.

Novel Composite Membranes Comprising Silver Salts Physically Dispersed in Poly(ethylene-co-propylene) for the Separation of Propylene/Propane

  • Novel composite membranes, which delivered high separation performance for propylene/propane mixtures, were developed by coating inert poly(ethylene-co-propylene) rubber (EPR) onto a porous polyester substrate, followed by the physical distribution of $AgBF_4$. Scanning electron microscopy-wavelength dispersive spectrometer (SEM-WDS) revealed that silver salts were uniformly distributed in the EPR layer. The physical dispersion of the silver salts in the inert polymer matrix, without specific interaction, was characterized by FT-IR and FT-Raman spectroscopy. The high separation performance was presumed to stem from the in-situ dissolution of crystalline silver ionic aggregates into free silver ions, which acted as an active propylene carrier within a propylene environment, leading to facilitated propylene transport through the membranes. The membranes were functional at all silver loading levels, exhibiting an unusually low threshold carrier concentration (less than 0.06 of silver weight fraction). The separation properties of these membranes, i.e. the mixed gas selectivity of propylene/propane ${\sim}55$ and mixed gas permeance ${\sim}7$ GPU, were stable for several days.

올레핀 저장/회수 기술 응용을 위한 하이드로퀴논 크러스레이트의 분광학적 분석 연구 (Spectroscopic Analysis on Hydroquinone Clathrates for an Application to Storage/Recovery of Olefin Compounds)

  • Clathrate samples, using hydroquinone as a host and ethylene or propylene as a possible guest, were prepared and analyzed by means of spectroscopic measurements. Obtained results showed that ethylene can form clathrate compounds with hydroquinone at 4.0MPa and room temperature, while propylene cannot form clathrate compounds. Different formation behaviors of these two olefin compounds can be applied to a clathrate-based storage/recovery of ethylene in a selective way, and can provide useful information on the cavity size of the formed clathrate compounds.

  • 무독성 혼합안정제 Zn/Ca-stearate의 방사선 안정화 효과를 증진시키기 위해서 oxy-methylene, oxy-ethylene 및 oxy-porpylene 구조의 직쇄형 및 고리형 에테르 화합물을 PVC에 배합하여 방사선조사 하였을 때 PVC의 색차변화를 측정하여 이들 에테르 화합물의 방사선 안정화 효과를 비교 검토하였다. 에테르 화합물에서 oxy-ethylene 구조단위수 4이상인 직쇄형 에테르 또는 고리형 에테르와 oxy-propylene 구조단위수 7인 직쇄형 에테르는 매우 우수한 방사선 안정화 효과를 나타내고 있다. oxy-ethylene 또는 oxy-propylene 구조의 에테르의 방사선 안정화는 Zn/Ca-stearate에서 생성되는 ZnCl$_{2}$와 에테르의 주쇄구조 oxy-ethylene 또는 oxy-propylene의 착체반응에 의한 것으로 추정된다.

에틸렌프로필렌 고무의 전압에 의한 누설전류 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Properties Leakage Current due to Voltage of Ethylene Propylene Rubber)

  • In this study, the leakage current - voltage characteristic and leakage current - time characteristic for the undegradated Ethylene Propylene Rubber and the Ethylene Propylene Rubber which is degradated by water tree for 200 hours have been measured on the temperature range of $50{\sim}80^{\circ}C$ and applied DC voltage range of 200 V~800 V for 90 minutes. The results of this study are listed below. In case the temperature is $50^{\circ}C$, it founds that the leakage current have shown a increase in proportion to the applied voltage as 2 pA in 200 V, 6 pA in 400 V, 10 pA in 600 V and 15 pA in 800 V. It founds that the leakage current increased with the rise of temperature. It founds that the leakage current was consistent as time goes by, the leakage current of the sample degradated by water tree for 200 hours has increased more than undegradated sample.

Structural Effects on the Tensile and Morphological Properties of Zeolite-filled Polypropylene Derivative Composites

  • We have studied the effects that inorganic zeolite powder have on structurally different copolymer [poly(propylene-co-ethylene)] and terpolymer [poly(propylene-co-ethylene-co-l-butene)] systems and the possibility of preparing suitable porous composite films. The impact strength and yield stress of the composites did not improve upon any further loading of zeolite, but the modulus increased gradually with respect to the filler loading. The experimental modulus of each of the two systems was compared with theoretical models. We performed a morphological study of the filler mixing efficiency and image analysis. The number-, weight-, and z-average air hole diameters were compared with respect to the draw ratio as well as the zeolite loading. The experimental results suggest that these two matrices can provide a new choice for preparing future multiphase polymeric porous films by stretching them unidirectionally. In particular, we suggest that a 40 wt% zeolite loading at a draw ratio of 4 is useful for porous film applications.

Field Gas-Sparging Tests for In Situ Aerobic Cometabolism of Trichloroethylene(TCE)

  • Single-well-gas-sparging tests were developed and evaluated for assessing the feasibility of in-situ aerobic cometabolism of trichloroethylene (TCE), using propane as a growth substrate. To evaluate transport characteristics of dissolved solutes [sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) or bromide (non-reactive tracers), propane (a growth substrate), ethylene, propylene (nontoxic surrogates to probe for CAH transformation activity), and DO], push-pull transport tests were performed. Mass balance showed about 90% of the injected bromide and about 80% of the injected SF6 were recovered, and the recoveries of other solutes were comparable with bromide and slightly higher than SF6. A series of Gas-Sparging Biostimulation tests were performed by sparging propane/oxygen/argon/SF6 gas mixtures, and temporal ground water samples were obtained from the injection well under natural gradient 'drift' conditions. The decreased time for propane depletion and the longer time to deplete SF6 as a conservative tracer indicate the progress of biostimulation. Gas-Sparging Activity tests were performed. .Propane utilization, DO consumption, and ethylene and propylene cometabolism were well demonstrated. The stimulated propane-utilizers cometabolized ethylene and propylene to produce ethylene oxide and propylene oxide, as cometabolic by-products, respectively. Gas-Sparging Acetylene Blocking tests were performed by sparging gas mixtures including acetylene to demonstrate the involvement of monooxygenase enzymes. Gas substrate degradation was essentially completely Inhibited in the presence of acetylene, and no production of the corresponding oxides was also observed. The Gas-Sparging tests supports the evidences that the successive stimulation of propane-oxidizing microorganisms, cometabolic transformation of ethylene and propylene by the enzyme responsible for methane and propane degradation.

  • 이산화탄소/프로필렌 옥사이드 공중합을 통하여 고분자 사슬 내에 친수성기와 소수성기가 공존하는 저분자량의 블록 공중 합체를 합성하였다. 고활성의 촉매를 사용한 이산화탄소/프로필렌 옥사이드 공중합 반응에 단말기로 -OH기를 갖는 폴리(에틸렌 글리콜)(PEG)을 분자량 조절제로 투입하여 블록 공중합체를 합성하였다. 단말기 한쪽 끝에만 -OH기를 갖는 폴리(에틸렌 글리콜)을 투입하였을 때는 PEG-block-PPC (폴리(프로필렌 카보네이트)) 다이블록 공중합체가 얻어지고, 단말기 양쪽 끝 모두 -OH기를 갖는 폴리(에틸렌 글리콜)을 투입하였을 때는 PPC-block-PEG-block-PPC 트리블록 공중합체가 얻어진다. 제조된 블록 공중합체는 $^1H$-NMR 스펙트럼을 통하여 구조 분석을 하였고 GPC를 통하여 분자량을 측정하였다.

  • 폴리케톤은 일산화탄소, 에틸렌, 프로필렌을 단량체로 중합되는 삼중공중합체 (terpolymer)로서 폴리아미드, 플리에스테르, 폴리카보네이트 등의 일반 엔지니어링 플라스틱 소재에 비해 원료 및 중합 공정비가 저렴한 소재이다. 또한 기계적 특성과 내열성, 내화학성, 연료투과성, 내마모성 등이 우수하여 기존 엔지니어링 플라스틱 소재를 대체할 수 있는 환경 친화적인 소재로 주목을 받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 폴리케톤의 내열성을 향상시키기 위해 탄성체(Ethylene propylene copolymer, Nitrile butadiene rubber, Ethylene acrylic rubber)를 배합하여 블렌드물을 제조하였고, 각 소재에 대하여 내열성, 내유성에 평가에 따른 특성을 분석하였다.
