A Patterning Process for Organic Thin Films Using Discharge and Suction Needles (토출 및 흡입 Needle을 이용한 유기 박막 패터닝 공정)

  • Unlike a printing process, it is difficult to pattern organic thin films in the longitudinal (coating) direction using a coating process. In this paper, we have investigated the feasibility of patterning organic thin films using needles. To this end, we have slot-coated an aqueous poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(4-styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) solution in the form of a fine stripe or large area and then applied the dual needle; one for discharging the main solvent of the underlying thin film and the other for sucking the dissolved thin film. We have found that the pattern width and depth increase as the moving speed of the plate decreases. However, it is observed that the sidewall slope is very gentle (the length of the slope is of the order of 200 ㎛) due to the fact that the discharged main solvent is widely spread and then isotropic etching occurs. With this scheme, we have also demonstrated that a fine stripe can be obtained by scanning the dual needle closely. To demonstrate its applicability to solution-processable organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), we have also fabricated OLED with the patterned PEDOT:PSS stripe and observed the insulation property in the strong light-emitting stripe.

Detection of Alpha Tracks of Boron by Nuclear Reaction with Neutron (중성자 핵반응에 의한 보론의 알파트랙 검출)

  • The detection efficiencies of the several solid track detectors were investigated for the determination of boron content in aqueous solution by using the alpha muti-Radioisotope(RI) source. Polycarbonate (Lexan and CR-39) and cellulose nitrate (CN-85 and LR-115) were selected as materials for alpha track detection of boron. Alpha muti-RI source, uranium metal particles and boron standard solution were used for alpha emission. In this study, four solid track detectors(CN-85, LR-115, Lexan and CR-39) were characterized under various etching conditions as well as neutron irradiation conditions. As a result, the CN-85 was turned out to be best to provide good efficiency among the four detectors. The selected solid track detector was utilized for the determination of trace amount of boron in aqueous sample and its results were discussed in the text.

Nb-carbonitride Analysis Techniques in Nb-steels (강 중 Nb계 탄질화 석출물 정량분석 기술)

  • The morphology and structure of precipitates of formed in Nb steels were investigated using SEM, TEM and XRD. The quantitative analysis of the precipitates was performed by ICP-AES. The potentiostatic etching method was employed as an extraction method using 10% AA-methanol and 15% Na-citrate electrolytes. The two selected potentials relative to SCE(Standard Calomel Electrode), -100mV in 10% AA-methanol solution and -250mV in 15% Na-citrate solution were found to be effective for the extraction. XRD analysis showed that composition of Nb carbonitride in Nb-steel(0.01% C-0.7% Nb-0.004N) was $NbC_{0.65}N_{0.2}$.

  • We have synthesized carbon nanotubes by thermal chemical vapor deposition of $C_2H_2$ on transition metal-coated silicon substrates. Carbon nanotubes are uniformly synthesized on a large area of the plain Si substrates, different from Previously reported porous Si substrates. It is observed that surface modification of transition metals deposited on substrates by either etching with dipping in a HF solution and/or $NH_3$ pretreatment is a crucial step for the nanotube growth prior to the reaction of $C_2H_2$ gas. We will demonstrate that the diameters of carbon naotubes can be controlled by applying the different transition metals.

A Study on Poly-Si Solar Cell of Novel Structure with the Reduced Effects of Grain Boundaries (결정입계 영향을 줄인 새로운 구조의 다결정 실리콘 모양전지에 관한 연구)

  • This paper deals with a novel structure of poly-Si solar cell. A solar cell conversion efficiency was degraded by grain boundary effect in Polycrystalline silicon. To reduce grain boundary effect, we performed a preferential grain boundary etching, $POCl_3$ n-type emitter doping, and then ITO film growth on poly-Si. Among the various preferential etchants, Schimmel etch solution exhibited the best result having grain boundary etch depth about $10{\mu}m$. RF magnetron sputter grown ITO films showed a low resistivity of $10^{-4}\Omega-cm$ and high transmittance of 85%. With well fabricated poly-Si solar cells. we were able to achieve as high as 15% conversion efficiency at the input power of 20mW/$cm^2$.

  • In this study, sheathless electrospray from PDMS/glass microchips with conducting metal emitter tip is described. A chip-based capillary electrophoresis/mass spectrometry (CE/MS) system has advantages of the CE separation and on-line electrospray detection of peptide solution. We have fabricated a new electrospray ionization(ESI) device composed of the metal emitter tip and CE separation channel monolithically in a glass microchip. The separation channel and metal emitter tip are fabricated using a glass wet etching and gold electro plating process, respectively. The fabricated micro electrospray chip was tested by spraying peptide sample for mass spectrometric analysis. Singlely-charged peak and doublely-charged peak of peptide were detected and further MS/MS fragmentation was performed in each peak. Direct comparisons with conventional glass or fused silica emitters showed very similar performance with respect to signal strength and stability.

  • 단결정 실리콘 태양전지 공정에서 이방성 습식 식각 용액을 이용하여 기판 표면에 피라미드 구조를 형성하는 것을 텍스쳐링이라고 한다. 실리콘 기판의 표면을 식각하여 요철구조를 만들어줌으로써 셀 내부로 입사되는 광량을 증가시켜 태양전지의 단락 전류 및 효율 향상 효과를 얻을 수 있다. 일반적인 태양전지 공정에서는 요철구조를 형성할 시 따로 마스크를 사용하지 않으며, 태양전지 급 웨이퍼를 절삭손상층 식각 한 후, 강염기성 용액과 알코올의 혼합용액에 담가서 이방성 식각을 실시하여 요철 구조를 형성한다. 본 연구는 기존의 텍스쳐링 공정에서 사용되는 대표적인 용액인 수산화칼륨(potassium hydroxide, KOH)과 알코올의 혼합용액과 사메틸수산화암모늄(Tetramethylammonium Hydroxide, TMAH)과 알코올의 혼합용액에 Triton X-100 계면활성제를 각각 첨가하여 실험을 진행하였다. 식각된 태양전지용 실리콘 기판의 표면은 주사전자현미경(Scanning Electron Microscope)을 통하여 관찰하였고, 분광광도계(UV/VIS/NIR Spectrophotometer)로 반사도 값을 측정하여 기판의 특성을 평가하였다.

Investigation of Firing Conditions for Optimizing Aluminum-Doped p+-layer of Crystalline Silicon Solar Cells

  • Screen printing technique followed by firing has commonly been used as metallization for both laboratory and industrial based solar cells. In the solar cell industry, the firing process is usually conducted in a belt furnace and needs to be optimized for fabricating high efficiency solar cells. The printed-Al layer on the silicon is rapidly heated at over $800^{\circ}C$ which forms a layer of back surface field (BSF) between Si-Al interfaces. The BSF layer forms $p-p^+$ structure on the rear side of cells and lower rear surface recombination velocity (SRV). To have low SRV, deep $p^+$ layer and uniform junction formation are required. In this experiment, firing process was carried out by using conventional tube furnace with $N_2$ gas atmosphere to optimize $V_{oc}$ of laboratory cells. To measure the thickness of BSF layer, selective etching was conducted by using a solution composed of hydrogen fluoride, nitric acid and acetic acid. The $V_{oc}$ and pseudo efficiency were measured by Suns-$V_{oc}$ to compare cell properties with varied firing condition.

대기압 플라즈마 소스로 식각한 Wafer 반사율 분석

  • 일반적으로 실리콘 태양전지의 표면 텍스쳐링 공정방식은 습식 텍스쳐링 방식과 건식 텍스쳐링 방식 2가지로 나뉘어진다. 하지만 현재 습식 텍스쳐링 방식의 경우 Solution을 사용하기 때문에 폐용액으로 인한 환경오염 및 Wafer 오염과 같은 단점을 가지고 있다. 또한 건식 텍스쳐링 방식의 경우는 진공 상태에서 진행되므로 높은 유지 비용이 가장 큰 단점으로 대두 되고 있다. 그러므로 기존의 방식과 다르게 진공을 사용하지 않는 대기압 플라즈마 소스를 텍스쳐링 공정에 적용하였다. 본 연구에서는 대기압 플라즈마 소스로 식각한 Wafer의 반사율을 가스 종류와 유량별 측정하여 분석하였다. 측정된 반사율을 통해 대기압 플라즈마 소스가 텍스쳐링 공정에 적용할 수 있는지 확인하였다.

Self-textured Al-doped ZnO transparent conducting oxide for p-i-n a-Si:H thin film solar cell

  • Transparent conductive oxides (TCOs) play an important role in thin-film solar cells in terms of low cost and performance improvement. Al-doped ZnO (AZO) is a very promising material for thin-film solar cellfabrication because of the wide availability of its constituent raw materials and its low cost. In this study, AZO films were prepared by low pressurechemical vapor deposition (LPCVD) using trimethylaluminum (TMA), diethylzinc(DEZ), and water vapor. In order to improve the absorbance of light, atypical surface texturing method is wet etching of front electrode using chemical solution. Alternatively, LPCVD can create a rough surface during deposition. This "self-texturing" is a very useful technique, which can eliminate additional chemical texturing process. The introduction of a TMA doping source has a strong influence on resistivity and the diffusion of light in a wide wavelength range.The haze factor of AZO up to a value of 43 % at 600 nm was achieved without an additional surface texturing process by simple TMA doping. The use of AZO TCO resulted in energy conversion efficiencies of 7.7 % when it was applied to thep-i-n a-Si:H thin film solar cell, which was comparable to commercially available fluorine doped tin oxide ($SnO_2$:F).
