  • The present has a double objective. The first one is to compare and estimate sixteen continuous-time methods through the identificatiun of a system consisted with an RLC electrical circuit. These sixteen methods are classified into three groups that are the linear filters, the modulating functions and the integral methods. The second objective is to estimate directly the physical parameters of the RLC circuit, without resorting to a discrete-time model. The system is consisted of a coil with inductance L and resistance H, and of a capacitor with capacitance C. Having written the physical equations which describe the behavior of the system, the transfer function in where the initial conditions appear is given. These initial conditions should be taken into account during the parameter estimation phase, because they are inevitable within the framework of real signals. A physical interpretation of the identified models is tempted by the direct estimation of the physical parameters L and C. In conclusion, a classification of the studied methods is proposed.

  • Classical and inverse estimation methods are two well known methods in statistical calibration problems. When there are outliers, both methods have large MSE's and could not estimate the input value correctly. We suggest median calibration estimation based on the LD-statistics. To investigate the robust performances, the influence function of the median calibration estimator is calculated and compared with other methods. When there are outliers in the response variables, the influence function is found to be bounded. In simulation studies, the MSE's for each calibration methods are compared. The estimated inputs as well as the performance of the influence functions are calculated.

  • In this paper we consider a various estimation methods including the post-stratification estimation, regression estimation and calibration estimation or a generalized raking estimation under a unit nonresponse. All of them have a common type of calibration estimation based on the post-stratification for a categorical auxiliary variables.

  • The signal can be modeled as a linear combination of its past values and present and past values of a hypothetical input to system whose output is given signal. Using this model spectral estimation problem can be reduced to estimate the ARMA parameters. This paper presents recursive modified instrumental variable algorithm which can estimate AR and MA parameters. For more accurate estimation, overdetermined modified IV algorithm is also derived. Computer simulations are presented to illustrate the above methods.

  • A size-biased Poisson distribution is defined. Its characterization by using a recurrence relation for first order negative moment of the distribution is obtained. Different estimation methods for the parameter of the model are also discussed. R-Software has been used for making a comparison among the three different estimation methods.

  • This paper introduces a new rotor position estimation algorithm for the SRM based on the magnetizing curves of aligned and unaligned rotor positions. The flux linkage is calculated by the measured data from phase voltage and phase current and the calculated data are used as the input of magnetizing profiles for rotor position detection. Each of the magnetizing profiles consisted of the methods using the neural network and fuzzy algorithm And also the optima phase is selected by phase selector. To demonstrate the promise of this approach the proposed rotor position estimation algorithms are verified by the experiment results or variable spee range.

  • In this paper, a new ARMA spectrum estimation algorithm based on Circular Lattice filter is presented. Since APMA model is used in signal modeling, high-resolution spectrum can be obtained. And the computational burden is reduced by using Circular Lattice filter. By modifying the input estimation part of other proposed methods, we can get high-resolution spectrum with less computation and less memory compared with other Lattice methods. Some computer simulations are performed.

  • The existing method s for curvature estimation have a common problem in determining a unique smoothong factor. we previously proposed two approaches to overcome that problem: a constrained regularization approach and a mean field annealing approach. We consistently detected corners from the perprocessed smooth boundary obtained by either the constrained eglarization approach or the mean field annealing approach. Moreover, we defined corner sharpness to increase the robustness of both approaches. We evaluate the performance of those methods proposed in this paper. In addition, we show some matching results using a two-dimensional Hopfield neural network in the presence of occlusion as a demonstration of the power of our proposed methods.

  • I provide an overview of the application of hydroacoustic methods in South Korea to understand the current research status in relation to fisheries acoustics and to determine which areas require further study. One main purpose for using a scientific echosounder, a representative tool using the hydroacoustic method, is to evaluate the abundance of fisheries resources. Thus, two representative methods for abundance estimation are described. The history of fisheries acoustics worldwide is also summarized.

  • The objective of this paper is to introduce a project on developing Finish Drawing Automation System. The system aims to improve efficiency of the BIM-based estimation, which is realized by automatic derivation of three-dimensional geometry models of the finish details. First, overall workload differences between the drawing-based estimation methods and the BIM-based methods are analyzed. Second, an automated finish detail design method is proposed as a time-saving measure for the BIM-based estimation, as manual modeling accounts for the most time spent in the model-based estimation process. Finally, the proposed system is evaluated using a case of washboard design.
