Power system loads have a significant impact on a system. Although it is difficult to precisely describe loads in a mathematical model, accurately modeling them is important for a system analysis. The traditional load modeling method is based on the load components of a bus. Recently, the load modeling method based on measurements from a system has been introduced and developed by researchers. The two major components of a load modeling problem are determining the mathematical model for the target system and estimating the parameters of the determined model. We use the composite load model, which has both static and dynamic load characteristics. The ZIP model and the induction motor model are used for the static and dynamic load models, respectively. In this work, we propose the measurement-based parameter estimation method for the composite load model. The test system and related measurements are obtained using transient security assessment tool(TSAT) simulation program and PSS/E. The parameter estimation is then verified using these measurements. Cases are tested and verified using the sample system and its related measurements.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle(HFCV) is system that uses electrical energy of fuel cell stack to main power source, which is different system with other vehicles that use high-voltage, large-current. Isolation performance of this system which is connected with electrical fire and electrical shock is important point. Isolation resistance of electric installation is divided according to working voltage, it follows criterion more than $100{\Omega}$/VDC (or $500{\Omega}$/VAC) about system operation voltage in a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. Although measurement of isolation resistance in a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle is two methods, it uses mainly measurement by megger. However, the present isolation resistance measurement system that is optimized to use in electrical facilities is unsuitable for isolation performance estimation of a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle because of limit of maximum short current and difference of measurement resolution. Therefore, this research developed the isolation resistance measurement system so that may be suitable in isolation performance estimation of a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, verified isolation performance about known resistance by performance verification of laboratory level about developed system, and executed performance verification through comparing results of developed system by performance verification of vehicle level with ones of existing megger. Developed system is judged to aid estimation and upgrade of isolation performance in a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle hereafter.
Network parameters in power systems are indispensable for all of power system engineering studies, including the power flow calculation and the state estimation. The network parameters required for the studios, in general, are estimated by using several estimation techniques, since it Is very difficult to measure. To improve the estimation accuracy of the network parameters, this paper adopt the synchronized phasor measurements which are acquired from the Phasor Measurement Unit with built-in GPS receiver. In this paper, the parameter estimation problem is formulated with over-determined nonlinear measurement equations and solved with Newton-Raphson method and pseudo-inverse. The effectiveness of the proposed parameter estimation with the synchronized phasor measurements is verified through some case studies with IEEE sample system. The results are very promising.
We consider parameter estimation in distributed systems in which measurements at local nodes are quantized in a non-regular manner, where multiple codewords are mapped into a single local measurement. For the system with non-regular quantization, to ensure a perfect independent encoding at local nodes, a local measurement can be encoded into a set of a great number of codewords which are transmitted to a fusion node where estimation is conducted with enormous computational cost due to the large cardinality of the sets. In this paper, we propose an efficient estimation technique that can handle the non-regular quantized data by efficiently finding the feasible combination of codewords without searching all of the possible combinations. We conduct experiments to show that the proposed estimation performs well with respect to previous novel techniques with a reasonable complexity.

This paper descibes a method for the state estimation in power systems with interconnected AC/DC system. The state values in interconnected AC/DC system are estimated using measurement values with the pseudo measurement so that the number of telemetering measurement can be reduced. Especially, the state values in AC system are estimated through hierarchical method after system decomposition including superposition bus was formed for the state estimation in large-scale power systems. The results of the application to the two model power systems show the dffectiveness of the presented algorithms.
The design of a measurement system to perform Harmonic State Estimation (HSE) is a very complex problem. In particular, the number of harmonic instruments available is always limited. Therefore, a systematic procedure is needed to design the optimal placement of measurement points. This paper presents a new HSE algorithm which is based on an optimal placement of measurement points using Intelligent Algorithms (IAs). This HSE has been applied to the Simulation Test Power System for the validation of the new HSE algorithm. The study results have indicated an economical and effective method for optimal placement of measurement points using Intelligent Algorithms (IAs) in the Harmonic State Estimation(HSE).

This paper proposes an improved phase estimation method for AM(Amplitude Modulation) range measurement system. The previous phase estimation method induces errors by Doppler shift of a moving target. The proposed method compensates phase estimation error through the ADC(Adaptive Doppler Correction) to take the Doppler shift, thus can improve distance measurement accuracy. When compared with the previous method through simulation results, the Doppler shift compensation and accuracy are improved by 94.7% and 50%, respectively. Target distance error in an acoustic tank is estimated to be 7.7cm, which confirms that the proposed method can be used to estimate the distance in the marine environment.

In this paper, a practical quasi-optimal DOA(direction of arrival) estimator is proposed in order to develop a one-axis gimbaled ultrasonic source tracker for mobile robot applications. With help of the gimbal structure, the ultrasonic moving source tracking problem can be simply reduced to the DOA estimation. The DOA estimation is known as one of the representative long-pending nonlinear filtering problems, but the conventional nonlinear filters might be restrictive in many actual situations because it cannot guarantee the reliable performance due to the use of nonlinear signal model. This motivates us to reformulate the DOA estimation problem in the linear robust state estimation setting. Based on the assumption that the received ultrasonic signals are noisy sinusoids satisfying linear prediction property, a linear uncertain measurement model is newly derived. To avoid the DOA estimation performance degradation caused by the stochastic parameter uncertainty contained in the linear measurement model, the recently developed NCRKF (non-conservative robust Kalman filter) scheme [1] is utilized. The proposed linear DOA estimator provides excellent DOA estimation performance and it is suitable for real-time implementation for its linear recursive filter structure. The effectiveness of the suggested DOA estimation scheme is demonstrated through simulations and experiments.

Accurate temperature measurement is a key factor to implement the rapid thermal processing(RTP). A temperature estimation method using acoustic wave has been proposed to overcome the inaccuracy and contamination problem of the previous methods. The proposed method, however, may suffer from the offset and low resolution problem since it is implemented in the time domain. This paper presents a temperature estimation method using the phase detection of acoustic wave. Based on the frequency domain approach, the proposed technique increases the resolution of the measured temperature and reduces the effect of noise. We investigate the performance of the proposed method via experiments.
