  • As CBD technologies and researches have been matured, component framework as a larger reuse unit than component is being introduced. Especially issues related with adaptation and integration of components in CBD are being raised as a new research topic. The component framework is given as a solution to resolve these issues. However, current approaches don't suggest a sound and comprehensive reference model and development process applying reference model. In order to develop practical and stable component framework, reference model and concrete guidelines are essential elements. In this paper, we propose a generic reference model integrating existing reference models and a design technique of component framework based on it. Especially, we propose concrete and pragmatic guidelines such as how to design component framework architecture's view and style, how to design commonality and variability of component framework, how to design macro workflows among components, and so on. We believe that the proposed reference model becomes basis for component framework development, and the proposed design technique will support reliable and effective development of the component framework.

  • The essential oil fraction was obtained from the leaves and flowers of Artemisia iwayomogi (Compositae) by steam distillation, and its main component, vulgarone B, was isolated by column chromatography. RAW 264.7 cells were used to investigate the anti-inflammatory properties of A. iwayomogi and vulgarone B. Cell viability was determined by MTT assay after treatment with various dilutions of the compounds. In addition, several assays were used to determine the effects of A. iwayomogi essential oil components on immune stimulation. Nitric oxide production in cells activated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was evaluated by reaction with Griess reagent. Both vulgarone B and the essential oil fraction of A. iwayomogi inhibited the production of nitric oxide. The effects on various cytokines released from the cells were also measured using ELISA. The production of prostaglandin $E_2$ was significantly decreased by treatment with A. iwayomogi oils. LPS-induced IL-$1{\beta}$ and IL-6 production were also decreased in a dose-dependent manner, but no significant effect on TNF-${\alpha}$ was observed at the concentrations tested. Finally, Western blot analysis revealed that A. iwayomogi oils reduced the levels of COX-2 and iNOS.

  • PL (Product Liability) refers to the legal responsibility of a manufacturer or seller for bodily injuries or property losses caused by product defects. Therefore, it is important for companies to construct a product liability response system that strategically manage and effectively adapt to product liability. A PL response system refers to companywide operations of PL prevention (PLP) measures, product safety (PS) measures, and PL defense (PLD) measures appropriate for a company's scale and environment. To establish an enterprise product liability response system, each essential component of corporations should be systematically operated and maintained considering the scale and characteristics of the corporations. Essential components of PL response system is Strategy, Organization, Training, Technology, Investment, and Awareness. Role of essential components is that companies need specific strategies to secure product safety and protect customers from product defects, and appropriate organizations must be composed for effective operation of such strategies. The objective of this paper seeks to examine the relationships among the essential components of the product liability response system and PL performance. PL performance consists of positive performance and negative performance. In particular, positive performance include increased efforts in product or process innovation such as strengthening research and development (R&D) to produce safer products without defects. In order to carry out this research we obtained 98 questionnaire of manufacturing company. A summary of the analyses is as follows: First, the awareness and technology among essential components affect significantly to the positive performance. Second, the awareness and strategy among essential components negative affect to the negative performance.

  • Component specification languages in consideration of reuse are essential factor in classification, verification and retrieval of components. A number of legacy specification languages have already been used, however, they are complex and include many necessary elements in the specification for implementation. In this paper, we present XML-based component specification and software architecture specification language to solve these problems of legacy specification languages. The presented specification languages consist of component specification, which is composed of signature specification, interface specification and message specification, and software architecture specification providing graphical notations and textural notations. Component specification supports component retrieval with behavioral match and black-box reuse of component. In addition to this, it improves the efficiency of retrieval and document management with XML-based component specification. Software architecture specification supports the structural reuse of architecture, which is white-box reuse, through mesage-based architecture specification.

  • Surgery remains the preferred treatment for hydatid cyst (cystic echinococcosis, CE). Various scolicidal agents have been used for inactivation of protoscolices during surgery, but most of them are associated with adverse side effects. The present study aimed to evaluate the in vitro scolicidal effect of Nigella sativa (Ranunculaceae) essential oil and also its active principle, thymoquinone, against protoscolices of hydatid cysts. Protoscolices were aseptically aspirated from sheep livers having hydatid cysts. Various concentrations of the essential oil (0.01-10 mg/ml) and thymoquinone (0.125-1.0 mg/ml) were used for 5 to 60 min. Viability of protoscolices was confirmed by 0.1% eosin staining. Furthermore, the components of the N. sativa essential oil were identified by gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy (GC/MS). Our study revealed that the essential oil of N. sativa at the concentration of 10 mg/ml and its main component, thymoquinone, at the concentration of 1 mg/ml had potent scolicidal activities against protoscolices of Echinococcus granulosus after 10 min exposure. Moreover, thymoquinone (42.4%), p-cymene (14.1%), carvacrol (10.3%), and longifolene (6.1%) were found to be the major components of N. sativa essential oil by GC/MS analysis. The results of this study indicated the potential of N. sativa as a natural source for production of a new scolicidal agent for use in hydatid cyst surgery. However, further studies will be needed to confirm these results by checking the essential oil and its active component in in vivo models.

  • Since the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor is used to treat Alzheimer's disease, the present study aimed to analyze the component with anti-AChE activity from the essential oil of Artemisia iwayomogi (Compositae). The four major components of the essential oil were identified to be camphor (29.8%), borneol (28.0%), eucalyptol (5.81%) and coumarin (5.49%) from a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The essential oil and its three components, camphor, borneol, and coumarin, were subjected to anti-AChE assay. The $IC_{50}$ values of the essential oil and coumarin were shown to be $0.298mg/m{\ell}$ and $0.236mg/m{\ell}$, though those of other two components, camphor and borneol, were more than $0.250mg/m{\ell}$. These results suggest that coumarin is an active substance of this essential oil with anti-AChE activity.
