This paper presents the active control of a flexible cantilever beam vibration. The cantilever beam was excitied by a steady-state harmonic and white noise point force and the control was performed by one piezo ceramic actuator bonded to the surface of the beam. An adaptive controller based on filtered-x LMS algorithm was used and the controller was defined by minimizing the square of the response of error sensor. In the experiment, gap sensor was used as an error sensor while the sinusoidal or white noise was applied as a disturbance. In the case of sinusoidal input, more than 20 dB of vibration reduction was achieved over all range of the natural frequencies and it takes 5 seconds to control the vibration at first natural frequency and 1 second at other natural frequencies. In the case of white noise input, 7 dB of vibration reduction was achieved at the first natural frequency and good control performance was achieved in the considered whole frequency range. Results indicate that the vibration of a flexible cantilever beam could be controlled effectively when the piezo ceramic actuator was used with filtered-x LMS algorithm.

The navigation algorithm developed based on the extended Kalman filter (EKF) sometimes diverges when the linearity between the measurements and the states is not preserved. In this study, new update conditions together with two conditions from previous study for gravity gradient referenced navigation (GGRN) were deduced for the filter performance. Also, the effect of each update conditions was evaluated imposing the various magnitudes of the database (DB) and the sensor errors. In case the DB and the sensor errors were supposed to 0.1 Eo and 0.01 Eo, the navigation performance was improved in the eight trajectories by using part of gravity gradient components that independently estimate states located within trust boundary. When applying only the components showing larger variation, around 200% of improvement was found. Even the DB and sensor error were supposed to 3 Eo, six update conditions improved performance in at least seven trajectories. More than five trajectories generated better results with 5 Eo error of the DB and the sensor. Especially, two update conditions successfully control divergence, and bounded the navigation error to the 1/10 level. However, these update conditions could not be generalized for all trajectories so that it is recommended to apply update conditions at the stage of planning, or as an index of precision of GGRN when combine with various types of geophysical data and algorithm.

Positioning technology which a part technology of Mobile Robot is an essential technology to locate the position of Robot and navigate to wanted position. The Robot that based on wheel drive uses Odometry position. technology. But when using Odometry positioning technology, it's hard to find out constant error value because a slip phenomenon occurs as the Robot runs. In this paper, we present the way to minimize positioning error by using Odometry and Inertial sensor. Also, the way to reduce error with Inertial sensor on SLAM using image will be shown, too.
We developed a small sensor observation system (SSOS) at a relatively low cost to observe the atmospheric boundary layer. The accuracy of the SSOS sensor was compared with that of the automatic weather system (AWS) and meteorological tower at the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). Comparisons between SSOS sensors and KMA sensors were carried out by dividing into ground and lower atmosphere. As a result of comparing the raw data of the SSOS sensor with the raw data of AWS and the observation tower by applying the root-mean-square-error to the error, the corresponding values were within the error tolerance range (KMA meteorological reference point: humidity ${\pm}5%$, atmospheric pressure ${\pm}0.5hPa$, temperature ${\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$. In the case of humidity, even if the altitude changed, it tends to be underestimated. In the case of temperature, when the altitude rose to 40 m above the ground, the value changed from underestimation to overestimation. However, it can be confirmed that the errors are within the KMA's permissible range after correction.
In the positioning algorithm of two-dimensional planar sensor array, the estimation error of time difference-ofarrival (TDOA) algorithm is difficult to avoid. Thus, how to achieve accurate positioning is a key problem of the positioning technology based on planar array. In this paper, a method of sensor reliability discrimination is proposed, which is the foundation for selecting positioning sensors with small error and excellent performance, simplifying algorithm, and improving positioning accuracy. Then, a positioning model is established. The estimation characteristics of the least square method are fully utilized to calculate and fuse the positioning results, and the non-uniform weighting method is used to correct the weighting factors. It effectively handles the decreased positioning accuracy due to measurement errors, and ensures that the algorithm performance is improved significantly. Finally, the characteristics of the improved algorithm are compared with those of other algorithms. The experiment data demonstrate that the algorithm is better than the standard least square method and can improve the positioning accuracy effectively, which is suitable for vibration detection with large noise interference.
In this paper, low cost inertial sensor and compass were used instead of encoder for localization of mobile robot. Movements by encoder, movements by inertial sensor and movements by complementary filter with inertial sensor and compass were analyzed. Movement by complementary filter was worse than by only inertial sensor because of imperfection of compass. For the complementary filter to show best movements, compass need to be compensated for position error.

We introduce the error models for an attitude determination system(ADS) with gyroscopes and stellar sensor. The ADS error models are derived according to the definition of the reference frame and of the attitude error. The equivalent error models applicable to the attitude determination system with large attitude errors are presented. The simulation results show that the proposed error models improve performance of the attitude determination system.
As wireless mobile networks have been widely adopted due to their convenience for deployment, the research for improving their performance has been actively conducted. Since their throughput is restrained by the packet corruption rate not by congestion as in wired networks, however, network simulations for performance evaluation need to select the appropriate wireless channel model representing the behavior of propagation errors for the evaluated channel. The selection of the right model should depend on various factors such as the adopted frequency band, the level of signal power, the existence of obstacles against signal propagation, the sensitivity of protocols to bit errors, and etc. This paper analyzes 10-day bit traces collected from real sensor channels exhibiting the high bit error rate to determine a suitable sensor channel model. For selection, it also evaluates the performance of two error recovery algorithms such as a link layer FEC algorithm and three TCPs (Tahoe, Reno, and Vegas) over several channel models. The comparison analysis shows that CM(Chaotic Map) model predicts 3-time less BER variance and 10-time larger PER(Packet Error Rate) than traces while these differences between the other models and traces are larger than 10-time. The simulation experiments, furthermore, prove that CM model evaluates the performance of these algorithms over sensor channels with the precision at least 10-time more accurate than any other models.
In this paper, we present an iterative learning method of compensating for position sensor error. The previously known compensation algrithms need a special perfect position sensor or a priori information about error sources, while ours does not. To our best knowledge, any iterative learning approach has not been taken for sensor error compensation. Furthermore, our iterative learning algorithm does not have the drawbacks of the existing iterative learning control theories. To be more specific, our algorithm learns a uncertain function inself rather than its special time-trajectory and does not request the derivatives of measurement signals. Moreover, it does not require the learning system to start with the same initial condition for all iterations. To illuminate the generality and practical use of our algorithm, we give the rigorous proof for its convergence and some experimental results.

In this thesis. the application of the synchronizing control of the intelligent indoor lift system is showed. The separate axes of the indoor lift system are driven independently. PID controller, synchronous flexible logic compensating method and tilt sensor are applied to enhance the performance of the intelligent indoor lift system. the tilt sensor senses the horizontal error of the whole system. PID controller and synchronous flexible logic are used to compensate the synchronous errors of both the separate axes and whole system to be zero. Namely, using not the hardware coupling but the software algorithm. the indoor life system is operated without the error. Before applying the real system, the simulation using matlab testifies the possibility of the lift system. And the realization of the system is demonstrated with two DC servo motors. In the experiment test, flexible logic to compensate the synchronous error is chosen by the comparative method. the indoor lift system has to be considered the loading factor as the disturbance. Because the intelligent indoor lift system is developed to support the patients who don't change for themselves to move. finally, the system which considers the weight of the patient as the disturbance can carry the patients safely without synchronous and position error.
