  • This paper describes the design of 3-component force/moment sensor with the force and moment ratio of wide range. It can measure the x-direction force Fx, y-direction force Fy and z-direction moment Mz simultaneously. In order to accurately measure forces and moment using 3-component force/moment sensor, it should get suitable force and moment ratio(the ratio of force Fx=200 N and moment Mz=20 Nm is ten to one), and small interference error. In this paper, in order to design the 3-component force/moment sensor with the force and moment ratio of wide range, the procedures are performed as follow : 1) the derivation of the equations to predict the bending strains on the surfaces of the plate-beams under the force or the moments, 2) the determination of the size of the sensing elements of the force/moment sensor by using the derived equations, 3) the Finite Element Method(FEM) analysis and the characteristic test for confirming the strains from the theory analysis, 4) the selection of the attachment locations of the strain gages of each sensor, 5) the analysis of the rated strain and the interference error at the attachment location of strain gages. It reveals that the rated strains calculated from the derived equations make a good agreement with the results from the Finite Element Method analysis and the characteristic test.

  • If we use a third order approximation for the displacement function of beam element in finite element methods, finite element solutions of beams yield nodal displacement values matching to beam theory results to have no connection with the number increasing of elements of beams. It is assumed that, as the member displacement value at beam nodes are correct, the calculation procedure of beam element stiffness matrix have no numerical errors. A the member forces are calculated by the equations of $\frac{-M}{EI}=\frac{{d^2}{\omega}}{dx^2}\;and\;\frac{dM}{dx}=V$, the member forces at nodes of beams have errors in a moment and a shear magnitudes in the case of smaller number of element. The nodal displacement value of plate subject to the lateral load converge to the exact values according to the increase of the number of the element. So it is assumed that the procedures of plate element stiffness matrix calculations has a error in the fundamental assumptions. The beam methods for the high accuracy ratio solution Is also applied to the plate analysis. The method of reducing a error ratio of member forces and element stiffness matrix in the finite element methods is studied. Results of study were as follows. 1. The matrixes of EI[B] and [K] in the equations of M(x)=EI[B]{q} and M(x) = [K]{q}+{Q} of beams are same. 2. The equations of $\frac{-M}{EI}=\frac{{d^2}{\omega}}{dx^2}\;and\;\frac{dM}{dx}=V$ for the member forces have a error ratio in a finite element method of uniformly loaded structures, so equilibrium node loads {Q} must be substituted in the equation of member forces as the numerical examples of this paper revealed.

  • It is crucial to determine a mixing ratio using an end-member mixing analysis when there is seawater intrusion. In this study, an error from the calculation of the mixing ratio between seawater and freshwater based on the principles of uncertainty was determined. I present the errors in the calculated mixing ratios as a function of the chemical difference between the mean seawater concentrations and standard deviations. The error is caused by: (1) the mixing ratio between seawater and freshwater; (2) the difference between the mean concentration and the standard deviation; and (3) the difference of the tracer concentration between freshwater and seawater (inversely). In particular, the error may determine hydrogeochemical process (either precipitation or dissolution) when a value of ionic delta (difference between measured and theoretical concentration) is close to zero during cation exchange by seawater intrusion.

  • The error rate eqations of digital modulated signals transmitted through the fading cdannel have been derived in the Gaussian/Impulsive noise environments Whing the derived equations for the error drobadillties of ASK, QAM, FSK, MSK, PSK, and DPSK signais, the error tate performance of digital modulation systems have been evaluated and represented in the graghes as parameters of carrier to \ulcornernoise power ratio (CNR) and fading figures The results show that in the fading environenet the error is occurred more frequently by gaussian noise in the deep fading Howerer in the shallow fading lmpulsive noise is more domiant than gaussian nosie in occurring the error

  • A hybrid finite element analysis was used to analyze the influence of ring gear rim thickness and spline number on the static properties of an epicyclic gear system with manufacturing errors. Both of these parameters affected the bearing force and critical stress. The effect of changes in the rim thickness on the load sharing between the gears depended on the type of manufacturing error. Ring flexibility improved the load sharing between planetary gears only in systems with planet tooth thickness or planet tangential errors; for other types of error, ring flexibility worsened the load sharing. To improve load sharing, rim thickness and spline number should be controlled within a specific range. The effect of the ring gear boundary condition was more apparent in a system with errors than in a normal system.

  • Energy savings in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems is an active research area. In order to achieve a solution, we propose a new cooperative relaying scheme operated on a per subcarrier basis. This scheme improves the bit error rate (BER) performance of the conventional signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)-based selection relaying scheme by substituting SNR with symbol error probability (SEP) to evaluate the received signal quality at the relay more reliably. Since the cooperative relaying provides spatial diversity gain for each subcarrier, thus statistically enhancing the reliability of subcarriers at the destination, the total number of lost subcarriers due to deep fading is reduced. In other words, cooperative relaying can alleviate error symbols in a codeword so that the error correction capability of forward error correction codes can be fully exploited to improve the BER performance (or save transmission energy at a target BER). Monte-Carlo simulations validate the proposed approach.

  • The nuclear power plants and chemical industries are trying to find human error to prevent occupational injury. The ratio of occupational injury is higher than the other industries in shipbuilding industry. It is known that the most important reason is human error. Recently, the shipbuilding industries interest in human error to prevent occupational injury. This paper outlines four approaches of human error identification used in shipbuilding industry such as survey of occupational injury, root cause analysis, risk assessment, and performance shaping factors. Finally, this paper proposes the interventions of ergonomics for preventing the human errors.

  • Main components of phase time error of synchronous network are flicker noise and random walk noise. This paper describe computer simulation of clock error characterized by a statistical model recommended as a standard measure. Flicker noise sequences are generated from white noise sequences by means of a algorithm developed by Barnes. Random-walk noise sequence are obtained by integration of a white noise sequence. Especially for flicker noise, relation between stage number N, time constant ratio K and bandwidth of flicker noise generated was defined by using some examples.

  • The most widely used method for searching contents of mot ion picture compares contents by extracted cuts. The cut extract ion methods, such as CHD(Color Histogram Difference) or ECR(Edge Change Ratio), are very weak at modifications such as cropping, resizing and low bit rate. The suggested method uses audio contents for indexing and searching to make search be robust against these modification. Scenes of audio contents are extracted for modification-robust search. And based on these scenes, make spectral powers binary on each frequency bin. in the time-frequency domain. The suggested method shows failure rate less than 1% on the false positive error and the true negative error to the modified(using cropping, clipping, row bit rate, addtive frame) contents.

  • In this paper, a new current-memory circuit is proposed that reduces the clock feedthrough(CFT) error voltage causing total harmonic distortion(THD) increment in switched-current(SI) systems. Using PMOS transistor in CMOS complementary, the proposed one reduces output distortion current due to the CFT errorvoltage. A proposed current-memory is designed using a 1.2.mu.m CMOS process anda 1MHz sinusoidal signal having a 68.mu.A amplitude current is applied as input (sampling frequency:20MHz). It hasbeen shown from the simulation that the output distortion current effected by the CFT error voltage is reduced by approximately 10 times the error voltage of conventional one, THD is -57dB in case ofappling 1kHz frequency input signalwith 0.5 peak signal-to-bias current ratio.
