Controller design to diminish oscillation and steady state error in water temperature systems with drive delay

  • Systematic design of a controller for a water temperature system was considered, with the intention of devising an accurate control experiment. The results of an experiment using a water temperature system based on the pole placement regulator showed water temperature oscillation and steady state error. This paper proposed a. method for eliminating both the oscillation and the steady state error. The oscillation was eliminated by a drive delay compensation technique, in which a future state value of the system was predicted through a real time computer simulation. The steady state error was eliminated by an steady state error correction technique, in which an actual steady state heatrate in the system model was replaced by an imaginary heatrate. By combining these two techniques, we obtained an experimental result for water temperature control of 0.01 (.deg. C) accuracy. Furthermore, the proposed method was evaluated relatively by comparing the experimental results using several other methods and proved to be the most accurate and convenient control method for the delay system.

Tip Position Control of a Flexible-Link Manipulator with Neural Networks

  • To control the tip position of a flexible-link manipulator, a neural network (NN) controller is proposed in this paper. The dynamics error used to construct NN controller is derived based on output redefinition approach. Without the filtered tracking error, the proposed NN controller can still guarantee the closed-loop system uniformly asymptotically stable as well as NN weights bounded. Furthermore, the tracking error of desired trajectory can converge to zero with the proposed controller. For comparison an NN controller with filtered tracking error is also designed for the flexible-link manipulator. Finally, simulation studies are carried out to verify the theoretic results.

  • Some extended results in the study of two-position alignment for strapdown inertial navigation system are presented. In [1], an observability analysis for two-position alignment was done by analytic rank test of the stripped observability matrix and numerical calculation of the error covariance propagation using ten-state error model. In this paper, it is done by an analytic approach which utilizes the nonsingular condition of the determinant of simplified stripped observability matrix and by numerical calculation of the error covariance propagation accomplished in more cases than [1], and the twelve-state error model including vertical channel is used instead of ten-state error model. In addition, it is confirmed that this approach more clearly produces the same result as shown in the original work in terms of complete observability and there exist some better two-position configurations than [1] using the twelve-state error model.

비례적분+이중적분 제어기를 이용한 정상상태 응답 개선 (Improvement of Steady State Response Using PI+Double Integral Controller)

  • The performance characteristics of a dynamic control system are evaluated according to the transient and steady-state responses. The transient performance is the controllability of the output for the tracking of the reference or the ability to reduce or reject the effects of unwanted disturbances; alternatively, the steady-state performance is represented by the magnitude of the control error at the steady state. As the effects of the two performances on each other are reciprocal, a controller design that shows a zero steady-state error for the ramp input is uncommon because of the challenge regarding the achievement of an acceptable transient response. This paper proposes a PI+double-integral controller for the elimination of the steady-state error for the ramp input while a sound transient performance is maintained. The control-gain design procedure is described by the second-order response for the step input and the response of the error dynamics for the ramp input. The PI+double-integral controller is designed for the first-order transfer function that is derived from a system identification with the open-loop experiment data of the dc-motor. The simple structure of the proposed controller enables the adoption of a low-end microcontroller for the implementation of a real-time control. The experiment results show that the control performance is as effective as that of the simulation analysis for the operating point of linear system; furthermore, the PI+double-integral controller can be conveniently applied to the control system, which is desirable for the improvement of the steady-state error.

VoIP를 위한 적응적 FEC 기반 에러 제어 알고리즘 (An Adaptive FEC based Error Control Algorithm for VoIP)

  • 현재의 인터넷은 가변적인 대역폭과 패킷손실 그리고 지연으로 인하여 대화식 응용의 QoS 보장이 어렵다. 특히 최근에 정보의 기반구조로 중요성이 강조되고 있는 VOIP는 패킷손실률과 종점간지연이 클 때 통화품질이 크게 떨어지므로 네트웍 수준에서나 응용 수준에서 에러제어 기법이 요구된다. 인터넷 전화와 같은 대화식 응용을 위한 응용 수준의 에러 제어 기법으로 FEC(Forward Error Correction)가 가장 많이 사용되고 있는데, 이 기법은 주정보와 더불어 부가정보를 전송함으로서 패킷손실을 복구하는 방법으로 네트웍의 상태에 따라 적응적으로 부가정보의 양을 조절한다. 그러나 기존의 알고리즘들은 패킷손실률만을 고려하여 부가정보를 조절하였으며 부가 정보를 증가시킬 때 수반되는 종점간지연을 간과함으로써 통화품질을 떨어뜨리는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 패킷손실률뿐만 아니라 종점간지연을 고려하는 FEC기반 에러제어 기법인 SCCRP (Selecting a Codec Combination using Reward and Penalty)를 제안한다. 실험 결과, SCCRP는 다른 알고리즘들에 비해 복구 후 패킷손실률은 물론 복구 후 종점간지연을 낮게 유지하였다.

PID-자기동조 제어방식에 의한 DC 서보 전동기의 속도제어 (The Speed Control of a DC Servo Motor by the PID Self Tuning Control Method)

  • 산업 자동화의 고정밀도에 따라 직류 전동기는 강인제어가 요구되고 있다. 하지만 PID 제어기를 갖는 전동기 제어 시스템이 부하 외란의 영향을 받게되면 제어 시스템의 강인제어는 어렵게 된다. 이에 대한 보완적인 한 방법으로 본 논문에서는 전동기 제어시스템을 위한 PID-자기동조 제어기법을 제시하였다. 만약 오차가 구속영역 내에 있고, 시스템이 안정한 상태에 있다면 자기동조는 사용되지 않고 PID 제어기만 동작한다. 자기동조 제어기는 오차가 구속 경계에 도달하게 되면 오차를 구속 영역내로 들어가도록 제어를 시작한다. PID-자기동조 제어 시스템의 오차가 시스템 설계자의 허용한도 내에서 유지되고 전체적으로 안정함을 증명하였다.

New Error Control Algorithms for Residue Number System Codes

  • We propose and describe new error control algorithms for redundant residue number systems (RRNSs) and residue number system product codes. These algorithms employ search techniques for obtaining error values from within a set of values (that contains all possible error values). For a given RRNS, the error control algorithms have a computational complexity of $t{\cdot}O(log_2\;n+log_2\;{\bar{m}})$ comparison operations, where t denotes the error correcting capability, n denotes the number of moduli, and ${\bar{m}}$ denotes the geometric average of moduli. These algorithms avoid most modular operations. We describe a refinement to the proposed algorithms that further avoids the modular operation required in their respective first steps, with an increase of ${\lceil}log_2\;n{\rceil}$ to their computational complexity. The new algorithms provide significant computational advantages over existing methods.

속도 리플 억제를 위한 수정된 PID 속도 제어기의 설계 (Design of the Modified PID Speed Controller to Reduce the Speed Ripple)

  • PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) has periodic torque ripple from the cogging torque and load conditions. This paper proposes the modified PID speed controller to reduce the speed ripple of the PMSM. The proposed modified PID controller uses a selective D(Differential) control term according to the speed error and the differential of the speed error. The proposed speed controller produces an additional torque reference such as torque compensator based on PI controller according to the speed error and the differential of the speed error, and it can reduce the vibration of the conventional D-control term with reduced speed ripple. Since the additional torque reference of the proposed speed controller is changed by the sign of the speed error and the differential of the speed error, a simple function to determine the sign of the error is used to produce the compensated torque. The proposed control scheme is verified by the computer simulation and the experiments.

전산화된 작업환경에서 인간의 오류성향에 관한 기초연구 (A basic study on human error proneness in computerized work environment)

  • This study was performed to investigate some characteristics on human error proneness in the computerized work environment. Our concerning theme was on human error likelihood according to personal temperament. Two experiments were performed. The first experiment was to study the effect of field- independence/dependence on error likelihood. The second experiment was on error proneness. These experiments were performed in information search task. which was most frequent task in computerized work environment such as the control room of nuclear power plant. Ten subjects were participated in this study. Analyzed results are as follows. Field-independence/dependence had a significant effect in both information search time and error frequency. Error proneness had a significant effect in both factors, too. And, a positive correlation was found between error frequency and information search time. These results will be utilized as a basis to study operator's error proneness in the computerized control room of nuclear power plant. later on.

초기 기수각 정보가 필요 없는 SDINS의 운항중 정렬 (In-Flight Alignment of SDINS without Initial Heading Information)

  • This paper presents a new in-flight alignment method for an SDINS under large initial heading error. To handle large heading error, a new attitude error model is introduced. The attitude errors are divided into heading error and leveling errors using a newly defined horizontal frame. Some navigation error dynamic models are derived from the attitude error model for indirect feedback filtering of the in-flight alignment system. A Kalman filter with Position measurement is designed to estimate navigation errors as the indirect feedback filter Simulation results show that the proposed in-flight alignment method reduces the heading error very quickly from more than 40deg to about 5deg so as to apply a refined navigation filter. The total alignment process including leveling mode and navigation mode in addition to the proposed one allows large initial values not only in heading error but also in leveling errors.
