This study investigates structural and vibration analyses due to the change of bolt Numbers on models 1 and 2 of flange couplings connected with both sides of axis. As maximum equivalent stresses of models 1 and 2 are 122.05 and 102.3 MPa respectively by the basis of bolt, these stresses are within the allowable stress of this model and the safety of bolt design is verified. As maximum equivalent stresses of models 1 and 2 are 196.2 and 196.4 MPa respectively by the basis of body, these stresses are within the allowable stress of this model and the safety of body design is verified. Through natural frequency analysis, maximum displacements of model 1 and 2 are shown at the frequencies of 6565.1 and 6614.9 Hz respectively. Maximum displacements in cases of models 1 and 2 are shown at harmonic frequencies of 7760 and 7840 Hz at real loading conditions. By putting these study results together, the durability of vibration at model 2 with bolt numbers of 8 becomes better than model 1 with bolt numbers of 6. These study results can be effectively utilized with the design on flange coupling by anticipating and investigating prevention and durability against its damage.
There are different kinds of aircrafts, such as conventional airplane, rotorcraft, fighter, and unmanned aerial vehicle. Their shape and feature are dependent upon their assigned mission. One of the fundamental analyses during the design of the aircraft is the structural analysis. The structural analysis becomes more complicated and needs more computations because of the on-going complex aircrafts' structure. In order for efficiency in the structural analysis, a simplified approach, such as equivalent beam or plate model, is preferred. However, it is not clear which analysis will be appropriate to analyze the realistic configuration, i.e., an equivalent beam or plate analysis for an aircraft wing. It is necessary to assess the boundary between the one-dimensional beam analysis and the two-dimensional plate theory for an accurate structural analysis. Thus, in this paper, the static structural analysis results obtained by EDISON solvers were compared with the three-dimesional results obtained from MSC NASTRAN. Before that, EDISON program was verified by comparing the results with those from MSC NASTRAN program and analytic solution.

In this study, an equivalent domain integral (EDI) method is presented to estimate the track-till integral parameter, J-value, for two dimensional cracked elastic bodies which may quantify the severity of the crack-tit) stress fields. The conventional J-integral method based on line integral has been converted to equivalent area or domain integrals by using the divergence theorem. It is noted that the EDI method is very attractive because all the quantities necessary for computation of the domain integrals are readily available in a finite element analysis. The details and its implementation are extened to both h-version finite element model with 8-node isoparametric element and p-version finite element model with high order hierarchic element using Legendre type shape fuctions. The variations with respect to the different path of domain integrals from the crack-tip front and the choice of 5-function have been tested by several examples.

This study investigates the durability of strut bar at car through structural and fatigue analyses. In this study, there are model 1 and model 2 as the analysis subjects. Model 1 is the existed one and model 2 is the improved one added with the reinforced part. Model 1 has the maximum equivalent stress of 165.11 MPa shown intensively at the welding part between the bracket and the bar. This stress is distributed over at the part of model 2 reinforced with this part. In case of fatigue analysis, there are three kinds of fatigue load as SAE bracket history, SAE transmission and sample history. The maximum fatigue life at SAE bracket history among three kinds of fatigue loads has the least value of $3.3693{\times}10^5$ cycles. The maximum fatigue life of model 2 becomes longer than that of model 1. As model 2 has the fatigue damage less than model 1, model 2 has the safety than model 1. As the fatigue durability about the configuration of strut bar is analyzed, it is thought to apply this study result into the real part effectively.

The planar effects on the concrete pavements Is mainly due to the concrete shrinkage, subgrade friction, and thermal expansion or contraction. A complete understanding of analytical behavior of concrete pavement requires the development of computer model, stiffness matrix and equivalent nodal load matrices due to the effects mentioned above. A computer program, INPLANE II, has been written to evaluate the planar effects on concrete pavements. The planar effects determine to what degree the joint open and also help In determining factors which affect the joint stiffnesses and structural behavior of concrete Pavements.
In seismic design and structural assessment using the displacement-based approach, real structures are simplified into equivalent single-degree-of-freedom systems with equivalent properties, namely period and damping. In this work, equations for the optimal pair of equivalent properties are derived using statistical procedures on equivalent linearization and defined in terms of the ductility ratio and initial period of vibration. The modified Clough hysteretic model and 30 artificial accelerograms, compatible with the acceleration spectra for firm and soft soils, defined by the Japanese Design Specifications for Highway Bridges are used in the analysis. The results obtained with the proposed equations are verified and their limitations are discussed.

In this study, an improved analysis model for the more efficient and accurate structural analysis of cable-stayed bridges is presented. In this model, beam elements, of which stability functions are stabilized by the use of Taylor's series expansions, are used to model space frame structures, and truss elements, of which equivalent elastic moduli are evaluated on the assumption that the deflected shape of a cable has a catenary function, are used to model cables. By using the proposed analysis model, nonlinear static analysis and natural vibration analysis of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional cable-stayed bridges are carried out and are compared with the analysis results reported by other researchers.

This study analyzes structural analysis with fatigue and natural frequency on ATV knuckle. The maximum equivalent stresses are happened at the end of knuckle in case of model 1, 2 and 3. As these stresses are below the allowable stress, these models can be stable structurally. The fatigue damage possibility at model 1 becomes more than model 2 and 3. Model 2 or 3 has more durability than model 1 at fatigue. As the resonances are happened at the frequency more than 2000 Hz in case of model 1, 2 and 3, there is no resonance possibilities at real driving. Prevention against damage and durability prediction on automotive chassis parts can be effectively improved by applying this study result on knuckle and improving structural strength.

In the design of a sky-bridge, repetitive boundary nonlinear time history analyses are required to accurately predict dynamic behaviors of the connected buildings because the connection systems of a sky-bridge usually have high nonlinearity. If a conventional finite element model for entire high-rise buildings is used for repetitive boundary nonlinear time history analyses, computational efforts could be significant. In this study, an equivalent cantilever model considering the belt-wall effect has been proposed for an efficient dynamic analysis and a performance evaluation of vibration control of high-rise buildings connected by a sky-bridge. To verify the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed equivalent model, boundary nonlinear time history analyses of 49- and 42-story example buildings connected by a sky-bridge have been performed for wind excitation. Based on the analytical results, it has been verified that the proposed equivalent model can provide accurate dynamic responses of building structures connected by a sky-bridge with significantly reduced computational efforts.

Due to the difficulty in considering dynamic load in the view point of a computer resource and computing time, it is common that external load is assumed as ideal static loads. However, structural analysis under static load cannot guarantee the safety of design of the structures under dynamic loadings. Recently, the systematic method to construct equivalent static load from the given dynamic load has been proposed. Previous study has calculated equivalent static load through the optimization procedure under displacement constraints. However, previously reported works to distribute equivalent static load were based on ad-hoc methods. Improper selection of equivalent static loading positions may results in unreliable prediction of structural design. The present study proposes the selection method of the proper locations of equivalent static loads to dynamically applied loads when we consider transient dynamic structural problems. Moreover, it is appropriate to take into account the stress constraint as well as displacement constraint condition for the safety design. But the previously reported studies of equivalent static load design methods considered only displacement constraint conditions but not stress constraint conditions. In the present study we consider not only displacement constraint but also stress constraint conditions. Through a few numerical examples, the efficiency and reliability of proposed scheme is verified by comparison of the equivalent stress between equivalent static loading and dynamic loading.
