A Study on the Improvement Case of Cosmetic Packaging Process Using ARENA Simulation (아레나 시뮬레이션을 활용한 화장품 포장공정의 개선사례 연구)

  • Demand for cosmetics with functionality and eco-friendliness has increased dramatically due to recent aging, well-being trends, and increased interest in beauty. Cosmetics production in 2014 was 8,970.4 billion won, an increase of about 50% compared to 6,014.6 billion won in 2010. In the midst of this, similar companies in intense competition are pursuing differentiated strategies and innovation activities to solve quality, price and delivery problems. In particular, cosmetics packaging work is getting more difficult due to the increasing bill of materials (BOM) and difficult assembly methods. Therefore, in this study, the following problems were identified and suggestions for the improvement of the packaging Many research laboratories such as biotechnology, chemistry, and pharmaceuticals, which are undergoing various studies, are equipped with ready-made laboratory safety equipments such as bio-safety workbenches, aseptic bases, and exhaust workbenches. However, most researchers are disadvantaged in using existing safety equipment. This is because existing safety equipment can not take into account all of the unique characteristics of the research. For this reason, researchers are demanding the development of customized safety equipment that is well suited to their research needs. process of Company C, which is facing difficult situation to respond to the customer 's delivery due to the 52 - hour work week. First, we used the stopwatch to find the difficulty process in the packaging process and show ways to improve it. Second, to improve the efficiency of line balancing in the packaging process, we integrate processes, improve work methods, and perform simple automation. As a result, the prepare loss for replacement was reduced by 1 minute from 5 minutes, resulting in a 23% increase in productivity from 112 ea./hour to 137ea./ hour per person. At this time, the LOB of the packaging process was improved from 70% to 82% by operating one more production line through one person per line, total 9 people saving.

Analysis of Cost Saving Effect on Stakeholders according to Performance Improvement of Harbor Cranes - The Yeosu Bulk Terminal (항만 양하 크레인의 성능 개선에 따른 이해관계자들의 비용 절감 효과 분석 - 여수 벌크 터미널 중심으로 -)

  • The Terminal Operating Company (TOC) decides to replace the harbor cranes in order to increase revenue and profit through the improvement of unloading efficiency. To achieve this goal, substantial costs and efforts are necessary. However, the conative participation of harbor stakeholders is needed, because they will certainly be passionate enough when expected effects are obvious. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect on stakeholders on direct and indirect cost saving when the cargo handling equipment is replaced. According to the analysis, a total cost saving of 6,561.8 million won will arise including a vessel chartering fee of 3,649.6 million won, a port facility fee of 1,528.8 million won, and fuel costs of 1,383.4 million won as direct effects. As indirect cost effects, a total cost saving of 3,107.0 million won will emerge including an environmental pollution cost of 2,134.8 million won and a freight inventory cost of 972.2 million won. Consequently, the replacement of harbor cranes in the TOC has positive effects on shipping companies, shippers, and the government in terms of costs and other aspects. The results of this study can be utilized as a basis to draw a conative cooperation of stakeholders on TOC's promotion of the harbor cranes replacement.

Pop-up Chart for Managing CRRT Improves the Quality of CRRT Care (전자의무기록 팝업차트를 활용한 CRRT 관리의 질향상 활동)

  • Purpose: The time lag between the decision to initiate continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and its actual initiation remains a major barrier in our intensive care units. We developed a CRRT pop-up chart on EMR for managing CRRT machines. Methods: This study measured time interval between the decision to prepare the CRRT machine and the actual use of the machine before and after using a CRRT pop-up chart. This study conducted a questionnaire of the medical staff to assess the changes in the quality of CRRT preparation. Results: A total of 95 patients on CRRT is analyzed. The time to find an available CRRT machine is decreased by 24.6%. The time to move a CRRT machine to the patient's bedside is decreased by 55.8%. Medical surveys of 44 nurses gave the following results. 1) The time to apprehend machines for 1 to 3 minutes is improved from 29.5% to 81.8%, and the time to apprehend machines over 3 minutes is decreased from 70.5% to 18.2%. 2) The number (6-all) of known machine locations is improved from 22.7% to 63.4%. 3) Interruption of a nurse's work due to telephone calls asking for the possession of movable CRRT equipment also is improved. Scores of 1-4 are improved from 15.9% to 41%. Scores of 5-7 are reduced from 52% to 15.9%. Conclusions: CRRT pop-up chart is shortened the time lag of CRRT machine preparation, reduced the nurse's phone workload and helped to improve the quality of CRRT care.

A Study on the Development of LED Spot Luminaire for Image Lighting (영상조명용 144[W] LED 스폿 등기구 개발에 관한연구)

  • This study manufactured spot lighting fixtures for the broadcasting stage and LED lighting fixtures, measured the illumination, dimming, and color temperature, and installed LED lighting and spot Fresnel lighting to the camera by turns with the same subject to confirm and look into the possibility of replacement of LED lighting fixtures by shooting the figures and comparing them. The analysis of the photographed subject found that the lighting apparatus of LED 144[W] was superior to the tungsten halogen illuminator of 1 [kW] in terms of brightness and color of an image. The measuring of the energy used in 144 [W] LED lighting equipment and tungsten halogen 1[kW] lighting equipment suggested that LED saved more than 80 [%] of energy in the same intensity of illumination. The comparison of the light distribution and light intensity distribution of halogen tungsten illuminator of 1[kW] and LED 144[W] lighting apparatus found that when a subject received concentrated lighting, effective lighting is possible because the illumination intensity on the surface of the lighted subject was high. In performance halls or studios of about 6 [m] height, there is no problem of illumination intensity in LED 144 [W] illuminator. Therefore, it is possible to replace the existing tungsten halogen 1 [KW] illuminator one to one.

  • The MFS (Mlti-Functional Structure) concept, which integrates the electronics, thermal control and structure into a single packaging system, has been developed and applied to reduce the volume and weight of the satellite. Therefore, this MFS can eliminate the bulky chassis/frames, cables and connectors of the electronic equipment. The main point of this traditional MFS is the replacement of the electrical chassis/frames with MCMs (Multi-Chip Modules) that require much costs and efforts for developing. This paper shows the new MFS concept that effectively saves the volume and weight. The structure including the thermal control and radiation shielding elements will be designed and manufactured as the rectangular grid-stiffened structure. The rectangular grid-stiffened structure is the modification of the iso-grid structure, and provides the enough spaces for putting the general PCBs without the chassis/frames.

A Study of a Method to Evaluate the Corrosion Resistance of Al2O3 Coated Vacuum Components for Semiconductor Equipment (반도체 장비용 Al2O3 코팅 진공부품의 내부식성 평가 연구)

  • This study is concerned with the evaluation of the corrosion resistance of coated semiconductor equipment parts with various processes. To select the appropriate basis for evaluation, replacement parts were observed during the semiconductor manufacturing process. This study also ran a dry corrosion test using $Al_2O_3$, which is mostly used as a coating material. This test quantitatively measured the efficiency of coated parts. Surface morphology, leakage current and breakdown voltage were also evaluated. This study showed that a dry corrosion process led to the drop of electrical properties, for example, the leakage current increase and the dielectric strength decrease. The surface morphology test displayed that surface damage is largely dependent on the exposure time to corrosive environments. By using the values that changed during the corrosion process, it may be possible to contrive a method to evaluate the efficiency of coated parts with various processes.

Comparative Experiments for the Improvement of NDGPS Signal Quality (NDGPS 관측자료의 품질향상을 위한 비교실험)

  • The DGNSS Central Office operates 17 DGNSS reference stations. Compared to the other DGNSS sites, the TEQC data quality of some sites is poorer. In this study, we tried to find out the causes that degrade the quality of GPS data for the purpose of improving the signal quality of the DGNSS stations. We selected the Chungju station that is the one of those stations with bad data quality. Through the on-site visit, we found that there is no signal-blocking obstacles. In addition to site surveys, we conducted two experiments; simultaneous observation considering environmental factors and comparison test through equipment replacements to check the malfunctioning of GPS equipments. In the simultaneous test results, we realized that environmental factors do not induce any bad effects on the data quality. In equipment replacement experiments, we confirmed that the data quality is of excellent quality when the test receiver was used instead of the original one installed at the site. When we replaced the antenna instead of the receiver, the data quality was bad. Through those two experiments, we concluded that the receiver is the main factor that degrades the signal quality.

  • With the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, multi-variety production in the up-to-date manufacturing environment is proceeding more rapidly whereby production planning and management have been getting more complicated. Moreover, the need to improve production efficiency through effective operation sequencing is further heightened. Fundamentally, the effective operation sequencing can reduce the set-up of the equipment, efficiently utilize the equipment, shorten the set-up time, and ultimately contribute to productivity improvement. This study deals with the problem of efficient operation sequencing in a situation where a single machine performs multiple operations. The complexity of the problem is very high when compared to the case where only one operation is performed on one machine, which is covered in most existing studies. In this paper, we propose an integer programming model to minimize the number of setups. This study aims at minimizing the number of mold replacement times in the process of processing a given production order for the wiring harness manufacturing process, which is one of the components of automobile electric field. In addition, brief case studies are presented to verify the validity of the proposed mathematical model.

Analysis of Greenhouse Gas Reduction Potentials in a University using Bottom-up Model (상향식 모형을 이용한 대학의 온실가스 감축 잠재량 평가)

  • In this study, the S University's energy usage, greenhouse gas emissions situation and potential reduction amount were analyzed using a long-term energy analysis model, LEAP. In accordance with the VISION 2020 and university's own improvement plans, S University plans to complete a second campus through expansion constructions by 2020 and by allocating the needed land. Accordingly, increases in energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions seem inevitable. Hence, in this study, the calculations of potential reduction amount by 2020 were attempted through the use of LEAP model by categorizing the energy used based on usage types and by proposing usage typebased reduction methods. There were a total of 4 scenarios: a standard scenario that predicted the energy usage without any additional energy reduction activity; energy reduction scenario using LED light replacement; energy reduction scenario using high efficiency building equipment; and a scenario that combines these two energy reduction scenarios. As scenario-based results, it was ascertained that, through the scenario that had two other energy reduction scenarios combined, the 2020 greenhouse gas emissions amount would be 14,916 tons of $CO_2eq$, an increase of 43.7% compared to the 2010 greenhouse gas emissions amount. Put differently, it was possible to derive a result of about 23.7% reduction of the greenhouse gas emissions amount for S University's greenhouse gas emissions amount through energy reduction activities. In terms of energy reduction methods, changing into ultra-high efficiency building equipment would deliver the most amount of reduction.

The Study on the Project Delivery System for Vitalizing the Green Remodeling (그린리모델링 사업 활성화를 위한 발주방식 제안)

  • Aging buildings over 15 years reaches about 74% of 177 thousand buildings in Domestic public buildings. Due to the aging building, the energy loss is a serious problem. In order to reduce the energy usage through improving the energy efficiency on the existing buildings, the government & the local autonomous entity conduct the energy efficiency projects through the remodeling, repairing & equipment replacement on the existing buildings. The green remodeling is applied to the existing public buildings in recently revised the act on the creation and support of green building. However, the standard is not obvious that the work scope of green remodeling, financing and project delivery method. This paper propose is to suggest project delivery system for vitalizing the green remodeling. Green remodeling is defined on basis of the occurring work under project life cycle based on the existing building process and the financing method for owners and companies and the project delivery system according to work scope of green remodeling are proposed in this paper
