The Development of Hazardous Waste Compact Dump incinerator for Low Emissions (저공해 compact 유해폐기물 dump 소각기 개발)

  • A lot of hazardous wastes are discharged as by-products of working process by industrial development. Hazardous wastes is physical characteristics of difficult destruction at hight temperature. Numerical simulation and combustion experiment performed of dump incinerator for hazardous waste incineration. For the numerical simulation, the SIMPLEST algorithm was used to ensure rapid converge A K-$\varepsilon$ model was incorporate for the enclosure of turbulence flow. Combustion model was used by ESCRS (extended simple chemically reacting system) model available of CHEMKIN thermodynamic data for the source term of species conservation equation or energy equation. Radiation model is used by six flux model. A parametric screening studies was carried out through numerical simulation and experiment. Residence time and concentration in the incinerator was strongly dependent on the parameters of mixture velocity, mixture equilibrium ratio, surrogate velocity and surrogate equilibrium ratio.

  • In the design of cable structures it is necessary to know the initial shape of the cable. The geometrical condition and the equilibrium equation of the cable are needed. Because the equilibrium equation is expressed by the simultaneous equations of second order, it is almost impossible to solve with elimination method. To solve it, we must use iteration method. In this study, the algorithm which can reduce the number of iteration and calculate shape of the cable is developed and compared with measured data through the laboratory test and the results represent good agreements.

  • Derivation of TSK fuzzy model from nonlinear differential equation is fundamental issue in the field of theoretical fuzzy control. The method which does not yield affine local differential equations at off-equilibrium points is proposed in this paper. A prototype TSK fuzzy model which has triangular membership functions for linguistic terms of the antecedent part is derived systematically. And then GA is used to modify the membership functions optimally. Simulation results show the validity of the proposed method.

  • This study presents an analytical method of solving the behaviors of arc plasma in a nozzle constricting transferred-type torch and purposes to obtain the basic data for the design of a plasma torch, which can be obtained from the temperature, pressure, velocities and voltage distributions. We have to solve some conservation equations simultaneously and need to know the exact thermal gas properties in order to obtain the correct behaviors of arc plasma. It is also necessary to give the relevant physical or geometric boundary conditions. For the simplicity of analysis, we assumed that (a) the plasma flow is laminar, (b)the local thermodynamic equilibrium, i.e. LTE, prevails over the entire arc column region. The electrode sheath effects were neglected and the nozzle area was excluded from the analysis by assuming that the current flow into the nozzle is zero. We solved the momentum transfer equation including the self-magnetic pinch effect, and obtained the temperature distribution from the energy conservation equation. From this temperature, we could get arc voltage distribution. (author). refs., figs., tabs.

Finite element procedure of initial shape determination for hyperelasticity

  • In the shape design of flexible structures, it is useful to predict the initial shape from the desirable large deformed shapes under some loading conditions. In this paper, we present a numerical procedure of an initial shape determination problem for hyperelastic materials which enables us to calculate an initial shape corresponding to the prescribed deformed shape and boundary condition. The present procedure is based on an Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) finite element method for hyperelasticity, in which arbitrary change of shapes in both the initial and deformed states can be treated by considering the variation of geometric mappings in the equilibrium equation. Then the determination problem of the initial shape can be formulated as a nonlinear problem to solve the unknown initial shape for the specified deformed shape that satisfies the equilibrium equation. The present approach can be implemented easily to the finite element method by employing the isoparametric hypothesis. Some basic numerical results are also given to characterize the present procedure.

Study on the General Theory of Stiffened Plates (補剛平板의 一般理論 硏究)

  • The general equation of equilibrium is presented for a stiffened plate on which the stiffeners having rectangular cross-sections are attached by one or both sides with arbitrarily angles. The principle of minimum potential energy is applied using the concept of adjusted-centroid to derive the equilibrium equation for the stiffened plate. Equivalent rigidities in the present theory are in good agreement with the experiments by the vibration method.

  • In solvent extraction, extraction isotherm represents the relation between the equilibrium concentration of metal in the aqueous and organic phase. McCabe-Thiele diagram on which extraction isotherm and operating line are constructed provides valuable information on the mass transfer operation. When the equilibrium constant of a solvent extraction reaction is known, the calculation method to obtain extraction isotherm was introduced. Kresmer equation by which the number of extraction stages can be calculated when the distribution coefficient is constant was introduced.

  • A method for calculating the main characteristics of a potentiometric titration curve in a carboxylic ion exchanger has been investigated. The potentiometric titration curves of simple electrolyte and ion exchangers (polyelectrolytes) showed a great difference between them. The acidity parameters of the ion exchangers, the thermodynamic constant (pK0), apparent equilibrium constant (K), and correction for the apparent equilibrium constant (b), were introduced and used to express the characteristics of the carboxylic ion exchanger. A characteristic equation related to the acidity parameters of the ion exchangers systems was derived. A fibrous carboxylic cation exchanger was used and potentiometric titration curves at different concentrations of the supporting electrolyte were obtained . To prove the validity of the characteristic equation, the concentration of the supporting electroyte was varied. In the present study, good agreement between the data points and the fitted curves was found in all the cases. The g (number of moles of alkali to 1 g of ion exchanger) of carboxylic ion exchanger was calculated from the concentration of supporting electrolyte (C), pH of the solution, and degree of neutralization of ion exchanger (x).

  • In this paper, we introduce a discrete time to the model to describe the time between infection of a CD4$^{+}$ T-cells, and the emission of viral particles on a cellular level. We study the effect of the time delay on the stability of the endemically infected equilibrium, criteria are given to ensure that the infected equilibrium is asymptotically stable for all delay. We also obtain the condition for existence of an orbitally asymptotically stable periodic solution.

  • In this paper, we provide 3 detailed and explicit procedure of obtaining some regions of attraction for the positive steady state (assumed to exist) of a well known Lotka-Volterra type predator-prey system. Also we obtain the sufficient conditions to ensure that the positive equilibrium point of a well known Lotka-Volterra type predator-prey system with a single discrete delay is globally asymptotically stable.
