활성탄 섬유 필터를 전극으로 활용한 정전 방식의 공기정화장치의 가스 및 입자 제거 특성 분석 (Gas and particle removal characteristics of a novel electrostatic precipitation type air cleaner using an activated carbon filter as an electrode)

  • We have developed an electrostatic precipitation (ESP) type air cleaner for indoor air quality and investigated its performances regarding CADR (Clean air delivery rate), single-pass efficiency and gas removal efficiency. The ESP air cleaner used an ACF (Activated carbon fiber) filter for gas removal and the ACF as a high voltage electrode for particle removal. The ESP air cleaner was tested in a chamber with the volume of $1m^3$ regarding CADR and gas removal efficiency. The applied CADR area of the ESP was $1.8m^2$. Gas removal efficiency was tested with 3 gases (Acetaldehyde, Acetic acid, Ammonia). As the results of the gas removal efficiency, the ESP air cleaner shows the removal efficiencies of 90, 98 and 85% for acetaldehyde, acetic acid and ammonia, respectively.

공기공급량과 계란 껍질 첨가가 유기성 폐수슬러지 액비 비효효과에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Air Supply Rate and Eggshell Addition on Liquid Fertilizer Efficiency of Aerobic Stabilized Organic Wastewater Sludge)

  • 호기성 소화를 통해 안정화된 유기성 슬러지는 질소 비료로서 활용될 수 있는 잠재력이 있다. 본 연구에서는 식품공장 폐수 처리장에서 발생한 슬러지를 호기성 소화한 후, 소화액의 비효효과를 오이 생장을 통해 평가하였다. 공기 공급량을 200 mL/L/min까지 증가시킬 경우, 질산화와 비효효과가 향상됨을 확인하였다. 또한 일반 비료에 비해 슬러지 내 함유량이 부족한 칼륨 등을 보충하기 위해 음식물 쓰레기의 일종인 계란 껍질 가루를 시비 시 함께 투여하여, 식물 생장이 향상됨을 확인하였다. 본 논문에서 제시하는 적정 공기 공급량과 저가의 첨가제 투여는 슬러지 액비의 품질을 보장하는데 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

환경관련투자의 효율성 분석: 우리나라 제조업을 중심으로 (An Efficiency Analysis of Korea's CGEI and IPEP in the Manufacturing Industries)

  • 제조업을 중심으로 분석한 환경관련투자 효율성의 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 내부수익률과 편익의 현재가치를 가변비용절감부문, 투자비용절감부문, 임대수입부문으로 분해함으로써 기존 연구의 범위를 확장했다. 그리고 단기총비용과 임대수입의 역할을 탐구하여 편익의 현재가치는 편익의 크기만을 나타내는 반면, 내부수익률은 효율성의 존재여부를 나타냄을 발견했다. 그리고 내부수익률과 시장이자율을 비교하는 투자효율성 방법론으로 환경관련투자와 관련된 투자효율성과 편익을 분석함으로써 사후 비용편익분석을 수행했다. 그 결과 환경투자, 공해방지투자 모두 비효율적인데, 공해방지투자가 환경투자보다 더 비효율적임을 발견했다.

규칙충전물을 적용한 화학흡수법에 의한 이산화탄소 제거에 관한 연구 (A Study on CO2 Removal by Chemical Absorption Using Structured Packing)

  • As a result of study on factor affecting absorption efficiency using the structured packing, Mellapak N. 250Y for the chemical absorption of $CO_2$ that cause global warming due to development of industry, it is shown that Mellapak N. 250Y has lower pressure drop and superior efficiency of mass transfer than 25mm Pall ring. Also, in the absorption process, it produces high efficiency in the increase of load and concentration of absorption liquid and produces low efficiency in the increase of temperature. In the effect of overall mass transfer coefficient for 15% MEA on the temperature variation of absorbent, when absorbent temperature for 15% MEA varied as 25, 50, $80^{\circ}C$, overall mass transfer coefficients were shown as 0.83, 1.00, $0.90kmol/m^3-h-kPa$.

환경시료의 방사능 분석에서 Monte Carlo 방법을 이용한 자체흡수 효과 보정 (Corrections of Self-Absorption Effect Using the Monte Carlo Method in the Radioactivity Analysis of Environmental Samples)

  • 환경방사능과 같은 저준위 방사능 측정에서는 원통형과 Marinelli형 측정용기가 가장 일반적으로 사용된다. 효율교정용 표준선원과 측정시료의 높이 또는 매질의 밀도가 다르면 자체흡수 효과의 차이로 인한 보정이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 Monte Carlo 방법을 이용하여 HPGe 검출기의 전에너지 피크 효율을 계산하여 측정치와 비교하였다. 원통형 용기에 대해서는 높이에 대한 효율변화 정도를 계산하였고, 원통형 및 Marinelli 측정용기에 대해서는 밀도변화에 따른 효율을 계산하였다. 밀도에 따른 효율의 감소 정도는 1000keV 이하의 에너지 영역에 대해 자체흡수 효과의 보정치 필요하다는 것을 알았다. 또한 계산의 타당성을 검증하기 위하여 NIST SRM 4353 표준물질을 이용하여 계산값과 인증값을 상호비교한 결과 오차범위 이내로 잘 맞는 다는 것을 확인하였다.

표면개질된 영가철 나노입자를 이용한 질산성 질소 제거율 향상에 대한 연구 (A Study on Enhancement of Nitrate Removal Efficiency using Surface-Modified Zero-Valent Iron Nanoparticles)

  • In order to treat groundwater containing high levels of nitrate, nitrate reduction by nano sized zero-valent iron (nZVI) was studied using batch experiments. Compared to nitrate removal efficiencies at different mass ratios of $nitrate/Fe^0$, the removal efficiency at the mass ratio of 0.02% was the highest(54.59%). To enhance nitrate removal efficiency, surface modification of nZVI was performed using metallic catalysis such as Pd, Ni and Cu. Nitrate removal efficiency by Cu-nZVI (at $catalyst/Fe^0$ mass ratio of 0.1%) was 66.34%. It showed that the removal efficiency of Cu-nZVI was greater than that of the other catalysts. The observed rate constant ($k_{obs}$) of nitrate reduction by Cu-nZVI was estimated to $0.7501min^{-1}$ at the Cu/Fe mass ratio of 0.1%. On the other hand, TEM images showed that the average particle sizes of synthetic nZVI and Cu-nZVI were 40~60 and 80~100 nm, respectively. The results imply that catalyst effects may be more important than particle size effects in the enhancement of nitrate reduction by nZVI.

주물 공단 용해공정의 송풍기 및 백필터 관리 실태 (The Status of Maintenance of Exhaust Fans and Bag filters in Melting Processes in a foundry industrial complex)

  • 18 Local exhaust ventilation systems in 10 melting companies located in an industrial complex were tested to know the status of maintenance. Test items were fan flowrates, fan static pressures, rotational speeds and differential pressures of bag filters. Only 22% of the tested fans has more than 80% flowrate efficiency. 44% of the fans has lower than 60% efficiency. The performance of the fans are not in a good status. For the fans with lower than 60% efficiency, the analysis shows that the lower flowrate might be caused by the degradation of fan performance. On the other hand, for the fan s with higher than 60% efficiency, the main cause of flowrate reduction might be too much pressure losses due to clogging of filter bags. The degradation of fans usually lead the reduction of hood capture efficiency, resulting in the increase of contaminant concentrations in workplace. To keep fans in good status, self inspections should be periodically conducted. This inspection should include the measurements of flowrate and pressures. The most important thing to be performed is the initial test of local exhaust ventilation system because the initial test data should be used to know the level of system degradation.

  • Water pollution is drastically increasing day by day, because of the enhancement in use of livestock, urban sewage detergents and fertilizers. Moreover increase in concentration of phosphorous and nitrogen contained in sewage, leads to green tide problem in the rivers and causes marine pollution. For this problem to solve, several technologies are being researched and developed. Among them, this experiment is a study on Bench-scale STP based on internationally certified sewage treatment equipment by MEPC. 227(64) of IMO. The purpose of this study is to compare the biological treatment efficiency of phosphorus of Bench-scale STP. The ratio of C : N : P was set to 10 : 5 : 3 and 10 : 3 : 1 as the operating conditions. And the operation cycle was set to anoxic(mixed) 70 min - aeration 50 min (70-50), anoxic(mixed) 90 min - aeration 60 min (90-60). As a result, the phosphorous treatment efficiency was 88% at average, and the treatment efficiency was steady at 90-60 better than 70-50. The efficiency of the bench-scale STP has been verified through this experiment and additional experiments are required to derive the optimal operating conditions.

Experimental Study on the Enhancement of Particle Removal Efficiency in Spray Tower Scrubber Using Electrospray

  • There have been a lot of efforts to keep permissible emission standards and to reduce the amount of emitted air pollutants. There are several air pollution control equipments, however, wet scrubber is used to remove particulate matters and gaseous pollutants simultaneously, even if it has low collection efficiency in the particle size less than $5.0{\mu}m$. To overcome this problem, we introduced a spray tower scrubber with an electrospray system which a high voltage was indirectly applied. We found that collection efficiency of fine particles in the electrospray system was improved by increasing electrical field strength and the ratio of liquid-gas flow rate (from 41% to 84% for $0.3{\mu}m$ particles). In addition, a number of small droplets generated from an electrospray system led high collection efficiency, resulting from electrostatic attraction between droplets and particles and higher collision frequency. Therefore, we can conclude that the introduction of an electrospray system is quite effective to increase the particle removal efficiency of a spray tower scrubber.
