  • The purpose of the study was to develop cyber in-service training contents regarding environmental literacy for entry-level environmental public servants. The blended type of contents were developed, through literature review, contents analysis of other programs, and expert conferences. The validity of the contents developed was ensured experts in environment. Major research findings were as followings: First, there is a lack of time for entry-level environmental public servants to participate in the environmental in-service training programs. Therefore, cyber training can be a good solution to the problems with environmental training courses. It improves access to educational opportunities as it overcomes the limitations of time and space and provides hands-on experiences through multimedia materials that reflect the real world. Second, directions for developing cyber environmental education contents were represented in three parts; 1) strategies for developing cyber environmental education contents, 2) Models for developing cyber environmental education contents, 3) Contents selection for developing cyber environmental education contents Third, the developed contents for entry-level environmental officers consist of 4 domains: (1) the introduction to environment; (2) the natural scientific understanding of environment; (3) the humanistic understanding of environment; and (4) the social scientific understanding of environment. Fourth, the program developed was evaluated by 7 environmental education experts according to 10 evaluation items of total contents and contents development structure. • Firstly, the goals and the domains of contents of environmental education was classified in order to systematize the contents of environmental education which would be taught in each subject. According to these goals and domains of contents, the contents of 10 subjects (Korean Language, Ethics, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, Music, Arts, Physical Practicum(Technology and Heme Economics), English were analyzed. The norms in the analysis of the goals of environmental education by each subject were 4 domains: information and knowledge, skills, value & attitudes, & action and participation. The norms in the analysis of the contents of environmental education by each subject were 11 domains: natural environment, artificial environment, population, industrialization/urbanization, resources, environmental pollution, environmental preservation and measures, environmental sanitation, environmental ethics, environmentally sound and sustainable development(ESSD), and sound consumption life. As a result, it was found that all the 4 domains of goals in environmental education could come true. Furthermore, the goals of environmental education were found to be reached in the subjects of Korean Language, Music, Arts, Physical Education, Mathematics, English, etc., which had been thought to have nothing to do with environmental education. It was also found that the contents of each subject could deal with its own unique environmental contents. The result of this study can keep all subjects from overlapping in environmental contents, and can make the most of each subject's characteristics. Also, the result of this study will be referenced in developing the teaching and learning materials for environmental education according to each subject.

  • Environmental education contents in science textbooks of South Korea and the United States were compared and analyzed in order to find how to develop environmental education in elementary science education. McGraw-Hill science textbooks for third to sixth grade and science textbooks of Korea based on the 2009 Revised National Curriculum and the 2007 Revised National Curriculum were analyzed and compared. The categories were educational goals, kinds of contents, distributions of contents and tense. The result showed that the environmental education goals in science textbook of Korea and United States were biased to knowledge area. The educational contents of the United States was higher 2.5 times then Korea and distributed in all areas. In quantitative distributions in Korea were biased some special areas. Tense of educational contents were almost present. Attitudes and recognition of students varies gradually over a long period of time, the contents of environmental education will be useful "evenly distributed" for all areas and school year.

  • This study is aimed to systematize the contents of environmental education in the home education and to develop the environmental education. For this, this study firstly examined the characteristics and goals of home education and its relation to environmental education. Secondly, in the paradigm of environmental education this study analyzed the goals and contents of environmental education in the domain of home education which is included in the practicum subject of the 7th curriculum. Thirdly, this study examined the effective teaching and learning methods for home education and the considerations in organization of textbook contents which reflect these teaching and learning methods. Finally, this study suggested an example of textbooks which reflect all these considerations. It has been found out that: (1) the home education is based on the recognition of environmental problems related to home life, (2) the home education explains the environmental problems, and (3) the home education has its goals of acquring active attitudes and skills to solve these problems. In the teaching contents, the home education was analyzed to have the following concerning environmental education: the utilization of resources for food, clothes, and housing and home life, that is, the domain of ‘environmental sanitation’ related to food ingestion and sanitary life, the domain of ‘sound consumption life’ related to the utilization of resources and their consumption, and the domain of ‘environmental pollution’ on the prevention of every kind of pollutants in the home life. However, the environmental education in the home education according to the 7th educational curriculum has the distinctiveness from the contents of environmental education which were emphasized in the past home education. The distinctiveness are as following: (1)the resources matter is dealt with in the aspect of recycling various resouces from home life, (2)the prevention or reduction of pollutants in life which take the considerable part of environmental pollution is emphasized, (3)children's sensitivity In environment is emphasized to be developed, and (4)the importance of life is emphasized to be taught.

  • We assumed that natural history museums have rooms for functioning as institutions for the environmental education, especially in aspects of multi-disciplinary, informal education. So we set goals of this research as finding 1) how much environmental education contents are reflected in exhibits of natural history museums, and 2) what those characteristics in aspects of dimension, range, and topic are. First, we developed a framework for analyzing of environmental education contents. Second, we applied the framework to seven major natural history museums. As the result, environmental education contents are reflected by 69.1% totally. Especially, the 'knowledge' dimension covered mostly, and among them the range of 'elements of Ecosystem' occupied more than other ranges. With inferring our results, we suggested that characteristics of natural history museums in environmental education are followed; spatial-temporal expansion of bio-diversity concept, visualizing impacts of human activity against nature.

  • The organic contents of reservoir sediment can offer a good indicator to events in history of lake life. Reservoir sediment have many information of the past and future fingerprint about development direction of life cycle in biological animals. So, in this study we made an effort to know the distribution of organic contents in Daecheong reservoir sediment. Items for this investigations are such as follows: Loss on ignition, COD, Organic carbon, TN, TP, heavy metal contents, Loss on ignitions were determined in 6.44~15.91% and COD were determined in 1.606~6.859%, organic carbon in 1,077~3.743%. Contents of TP and TN were in the range of 0.083~0.757%, and 0.645~0.926%, respectively.
