Cd으로 오염된 토양의 EK 정화시 Humic acid가 미치는 영향

  • This research was carried out to evaluate the effects of humic acid on contaminated kaoline with cadmium when electrokinetic remediation. Electrokinetic remediation test was performed depending on humic acid concentrations(0.005, 0.01, 0.05, 0.083, 0.1, 0.5, 5.0mg/g) in contaminated kaoline with cadmium and time(4, 8, 12days). In the absence of humic acid, Cd at the anode showed the highest concentration while Cd concentrations were lower as the concentration of humic acid increased. The removal of Cd to the anode reservoir was increased with increasing humic acid concentration by electroosmosis or ion migration.

  • In this study, the electrokinetic remediation test for the kaolin contaminated by lead was performed and voltage, zeta potential, pH distribution, current, contamination transport in soil sample were studied and finite differential numerical analysis program(HERP) for a contaminated soil were compared with those of test. From the result of HERP, in the anode it was represented that the rest concentration was decreased with the voltage. Hence, if treatment time was continued for a long in the constant voltage, comparing with sample having no change in the rest concentration, it is considered that the voltage gradient is the control factor of the rest concentration.

  • The purpose of this study is the development of hybrid horizontal electrokinetic(EK) remediation system on rifle range soil under unsaturated conditions. In order to remediate soil polluted by multi-species heavy metals, in pi]of scale, a series of EK remediation tests are carried out. PVC and PDB(Plastic Drain Board) electrode systems that connected with the power supply of constant voltage and vacuum pressure of 0.5kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ are installed, The test results showed that the pH distribution in the sample is below 8, which is maintained until the test is finished, because of the injection of flushing solution. The final concentration, which is normalized by initial concentration, is ranged about 50 to 90%.

  • On site, In situ soil remediation technologies are very important among the remediation technologies and in general efficiency of these technologies are turned to site characterization and environmental condition. specially using of only one technology has so many limitation factors. for example, existing state of tailing and channeling and so on. actually, filled land have high concentration cation exchange capacity because of existence in abundance soil organic matter. Therefore we used various on site in Situ technologies by phase for overcome the limitation factors. Target site is petroleum (diesel) impacted filled land and using technologies are SVE(Soil Vapor Extraction), BV(Bioventing), Bioremediation, Soil flushing, Chemical oxidation.

  • The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effect of microemulsion on the remediation of soil contaminated with organic materials. The laboratory tests were conducted to confirm the ability of microemulsion as remediation agent and compare remediation efficiency in microemulsion process with soil washing. In the test, pyrene was used as organic contaminant and alkylpolyethoxylates(C$_4$E$_1$) was used as surfactant. Microemulsion in the $C_4$E$_1$-water-decane mixture was formed in the range of 22 and 48$_{o}$ C at surfactant contents V=55%. Extraction was completed within 30 min and about 90% pyrene was removed. Seperation of pyrene with oil phase lowering temperature was sufficient for application in a multistep process.s.

  • Column experiments were peformed to evaluate the efficiency of surfactant flushing for remediation of non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) in the soil under controlled conditions. In column experiment less than 0.1 % of the original mass of tetrachloroethylene (PCE), remained in the column after 15 pore volumes of 1% sorbitan monooleate solution were passed through columns. To determine the influence of soil parameters that may affect the remediation process, column tests were repeated with different values of grain size, application rate, surfactant type, surfactant concentration, and solution viscosity (polymer mixed with surfactant). Experimental works suggest that surfactant flushing has a great potential to rapidly remove mass from NAPL in the soil.

Phenanthrene으로 오염된 저투수성 지반의 향상된 Electrokinetic 정화 처리 (Enhanced Electrokinetic remediation of low permeability soil contaminated with phenanthrene)

  • 본 연구는 유류 화합물 중 대표적인 소수성 유기 오염물인 phenanthrene으로 오염된 세립질 지반을 실내에서 인위적으로 조성하여 Electrokinetic 정화 처리를 실시하였고, 또한 향상기법으로 계면활성제를 적용하여 정화효율과 거동을 분석하였다. 비향상된 EK 정화 처리에서는 phenanthrene의 이동은 거의 발생하지 않았고, 계면활성제를 이용한 향상기법에서는 양극(+) 근처의 phenanthrene이 음극(-)쪽으로 이동하여 누적되었다. 또한, 계면활성제의 농도가 높을수록 이동 현상이 크게 나타났으며, 시간을 증가할수록 누적된 phenenthrene이 음극(-)저수조로 전기삼투 흐름에 의해 제거되는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Density-surfactant-motivated removal of DNAPL trapped in dead-end fractures

  • Three kinds of experiments were conducted to test existing methods and develop an effective methodology for the remediation of DNAPL trapped in vertical dead-end fractures. A water-flushing method failed to remove TCE from vertical dead-end fractures where no fluid flow occurs. A water-flushing experiment implies that existing remediation methods, utilizing water-based remedial fluid such as surfactant-enhanced method, have difficulty in removing DNAPL trapped from the vertical downward dead-end fractures, because of no water flow through dead-end fractures, capillary, and gravity forces. Fluid denser than TCE was injected into the fracture network, but did not displace TCE from the vertical dead-end fractures. Base(B on the analysis of the experiments, the increase in the density of the dense fluid and the addition of surfactant to the dense fluid were suggested, and this composite dense fluid with surfactant effectively removed TCE from the vertical dead-end fractures.

  • We accomplished optimization for pump and treat (P&T) designs in consideration of degradation processes such as retardation and biodegradation, which are significant for contaminant fate in hydrogeology. For more desirable remediation, optimal pumping duration and minimum pumping rate constraint problems are studied. After a specific P&T duration, it replaces the P&T with the enhanced natural attenuation (ENA), which induces aerobic biodegradation by maintaining oxygen concentration. The design in this strategy carries out the optimization for the number and locations of oxygen injection wells.

전극변환 동전기를 이용한 중금속 오염토양 처리에 관한 연구 (A Study for Remediation of Heavy Metal Contaminated Soil Using Electrokinetics with Swappable Electrode)

  • In this study, remediation of heavy metal contaminated soil was attempted by the electrokinetic process equipped with fixed or swappable electrode. Copper was more effectively removed with EDTA than citric acid. Zinc was much more removed than copper with both detergents. When electrokinetic with fixed electrode and detergents were applied to the contaminated soil, copper was removed about 28.52%~35.25% and zinc was removed about 63.44%~71.48%. When electrokinetics with swappable electrode and detergents were applied to the contaminated soil, the pseudo-first order reaction constants was higher about 16~50% than with fixed electrode in the case of zinc. It is conclusive that electrokinetics with swappable electrode could be an effective method for the remediation of heavy metal contaminated soil.
