The Relationship among Social Support, Work-Family Conflict and Work-Family Enrichment of Married Nurses (기혼간호사의 사회적 지지와 일-가정 갈등, 일-가정 향상과의 관계)

  • Purpose: This study is to identify the relationship among married nurses' social support, work-family conflict and work-family enrichment and to examine the influence of social support on work-family conflict and work-family enrichment. Methods: Data were collected from married nurses working at three hospitals with more than 100 beds in J Province and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis H test, Pearson's correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS 21 program. Findings: In the correlation analysis only social support and work-family enrichment showed positive correlation. As a result of hierarchical multiple regression analysis, social support still acted as a significant influence factor on work-family conflict and work-family enrichment even in the state of considering the effect of control variables. Conclusion: In order to lower work-family conflict and to enhance work-family enrichment of married nurses, it is necessary to introduce and implement welfare policies for work-family reconciliation at the workplace level and at home level it is necessary to provide concrete measures so that married nurses can find the value of life as workers while house working and nurturing.

  • The purpose of this study is to develope Premarital Relationship Enrichment Program (PREP). This Program was based on survey (416 data used) for the need of PREP. The results was as followings : 1. The object wanted that the curriclumn were included marital values, love and intimacy, communication skill, understanding of personality, good relationship of both parents, adaptation of both families, healthy self-image, sex knowlege, constructive conflict-solving, financial management skill, reasonable decision-making, family planning, marital roles, concrete marriage readiness. 2.   • The purpose of this study was to enhance the marital relationships of middle-aged couples in their 50s who either had retired or were approaching retirement and to develop marriage-enrichment program that would help them maintain a happy and satisfactory family relationship. In-depth interviews were conducted with middle-aged couples in their 50s who had enrolled in the program. Developed based on the relevant literature and our own needs analyses the program was organized into three areas, family relationship, life management(time, leisure), and life plan for old ages. The program consisted of five sessions of 120 minutes each. Participants attended the program's lectures and activities. Pre and post-tests were conducted to examine the program's effectiveness. The post-test results showed improvement over the pre-test results, so we can conclude that this program would appropriate for improving the marital relationships of middle- aged couples in their 50s both before or after their retirement.

  • Mentorship as an enrichment program as well as a promising educational method in the 21st century for the gifted students in science provides young scientists with opportunities to develop their abilities and attitudes regarding research. Kyungnam Institute of Gifted Education in Science (KIGES) has run mentorship program for five years. Many advantages of mentorship program for the science gifted students are reviewed including those of KIGES. A mentorship model for future student research programs is proposed as a way to facilitate the process of mentorship.

  • Toxicogenomics has recently emerged in the field of toxicology and the DNA microarray technique has become common strategy for predictive toxicology which studies molecular mechanism caused by exposure of chemical or environmental stress. Although microarray experiment offers extensive genomic information to the researchers, yet high dimensional characteristic of the data often makes it hard to extract meaningful result. Therefore we developed toxicant enrichment analysis similar to the common enrichment approach. We also developed web-based system graPT to enable considerable prediction of toxic endpoints of experimental chemical.

GoBean: a Java GUI application for visual exploration of GO term enrichments

  • We have developed a biologist-friendly, Java GUI application (GoBean) for GO term enrichment analysis. It was designed to be a comprehensive and flexible GUI tool for GO term enrichment analysis, combining the merits of other programs and incorporating extensive graphic exploration of enrichment results. An intuitive user interface with multiple panels allows for extensive visual scrutiny of analysis results. The program includes many essential and useful features, such as enrichment analysis algorithms, multiple test correction methods, and versatile filtering of enriched GO terms for more focused analyses. A unique graphic interface reflecting the GO tree structure was devised to facilitate comparisons of multiple GO analysis results, which can provide valuable insights for biological interpretation. Additional features to enhance user convenience include built in ID conversion, evidence code-based gene-GO association filtering, set operations of gene lists and enriched GO terms, and user -provided data files.   • The purpose of this study is to develope, implement, evaluate of premarital education programs. Based on the need assessment and systemic, developmental, and feministic perspectives, this study developed several formats of premarital education programs such as the enrich program, book and internet site. The enrichment program was implemented for 13 couples, and revealed good evaluation of the general outcomes. Recommendations for future research and implementation of family life education were added.

A Development of Communication and Relationship Enrichment Program for Multicultural Couples (다문화가정 부부의 의사소통 및 관계 증진 프로그램 개발)

  • This study aims to develop and apply communication and relationship enrichment programs for married multicultural couples and verify its effects. This preliminary program was developed based on results from reviews of existing intervention programs, participants' interview for their needs and professionals' feedback on program. The program includes 11 sessions(once a week; 2 hours per session) focusing on communication strategies and related activities using marital counseling. Four multicultural couples participated in the intervention program. Qualitative data was collected during the program, including voice recording files, activity sheets, and filed notes conducted by researchers. Based on the results from the data analysis, we could find the intervention program had an positive effect on the communication between multicultural couples. Specifically, the intervention program could (1) enhanced intimacy in the couples, (2) started conversation and improved communication patterns between the couples. And also (3) modes of communication were changed to more collaborative communication through this program. The marital communication program developed in this study is significant in that it played a catalytic role for marital conversation in multicultural couples and used professional counseling techniques and strategies in solving and managing marital conflict.

A Study on Analyzing Actual Condition for Developing A Married Immigrant Families Support Program from the Consumer' Viewpoint: Focused on Seoul Residing Married Immigrant Women (수요자 관점의 결혼이민자가족지원 프로그램 개발을 위한 기초 실태 분석: 서울시 거주 결혼이민여성을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to conduct base line research, which is based on requestion of international married immigrant women, for developing social adaptation and family enrichment program for those population who reside in Korea. The survey questionnaire was distributed to 142 international married immigrant women who reside in Seoul to research program participate satisfaction and requestion. Analyze the study results, frequency, percentage, t-test, ANOVA and Duncan-post test were utilized. As a result, overall satisfaction toward program that offered by organization was highly ranked. Visiting service showed high score of satisfaction but mentor service that strongly possess sacrifice showed lower score of satisfaction. Vocational and job-related skill improvement education presented less satisfied degree of satisfaction but cooking class, computer class, training education for native-speaking instructor present high level of satisfaction. Second, the requisition of target population, who did not participate program, presented lower than the satisfaction, still present high demand of variety area of program. Among them, assist child nurturing and vocational and job- related skill improvement education showed high demand. It enable to predict that they are eager to get support toward parent role and self-realization. Third, when the difference were analyzed to compare the subjective judgement toward life adaptation in Korea and the satisfaction for program user and the requisition of non-user, the meaningful differences were founded; especially, individuals who possess confident degree of computer skills and Korean(reading, speaking, and listening) showed higher degree of satisfaction to vocation and job-skill related improvement education. This study has a practical implication, which is based on the study results, on developing a program to support international married immigrant women and multicultural families to satisfactory settlement in Korea life and to maintain healthy families.

A Study on the Research Trends and Tasks in the Development of the Education Programs for the Elderly (노년기 교육프로그램 개발의 현황과 과제)

  • Korean society with low fertility rate and high aging rate crisis has been tried very hard to find out alternatives to solve these social problems. These efforts resulted in increasing the development of education programs for the elderly. The education for the elderly have been development in various different academic fields. Therefore, this is the time to establish database for education programs which developed so far. The purpose of this study is to examine research trend in the field of education programs for the elderly in Korea. For this purpose, 62 education programs for the elderly which developed so far were analyzed. The results of this study were as followed. The topics of education programs for the elderly were divided into the following : a marriage enrichment programs for the elderly married couples, leisure programs, death education programs, health education programs, economic education programs, education programs for grandparents raising their grandchildren, etc. Based on the results of this analysis, the tasks of future research about education programs for the elderly were presented.
