This study was designed to evaluate the effects of angulation changes of head posture on the enlargement ratios of a lateral headfilm depending on the vortical or horizontal rotation of the objects. A device was constructed to measure regional changes of enlargement ratios. The device was held within the cephalostat and cephalograms recorded at each measured degrees of the device tilting, vertically and horizontally. The enlargement ratios of the horizontal, vertical, and angular measurements on the films taken at each tilted angulations were obtained and compared with those on the films taken without rotation. In summary, the enlargement ratios of the horizontal linear measurements were decreased during horizontal rotations. The enlargement ratios of vortical measurements of the right side on the film were increased and those of the left side were decreased by the horizontal rotations. Enlargement ratios of horizontal measurements were affected further than those of vertical measurements by the same angular changes of the horizontal rotations. Therefore, a disruption of parallelism between the object's midsagittal plane and the film could result in distortion of the image while vertical rotation around the object's porionic axis would not significantly affect the enlargement ratios on the headfilm.

Recently interest in enlargement of existing tunnel located in downtown or mountain area have been considerably increased along with requirements and discussion on the road-widening. Therefore, it is necessary to study the construction method and stability of tunnel to enlarge the existing tunnel in design. In this study, the design concept on the alignment, excavation method, reinforcement to enlarge the existing tunnel is described on the basis of the enlargement of 2-lane road tunnel under construction. This paper suggests a proper design method for the enlargement of an existing tunnel in useful practice.

It is known that a digital image enlargement technique can increase the size of he image but the practical enhancement of resolution is trifle because the frequency bandwidth of the original image is basically limited. To solve this problem, this paper proposes the digital image enlargement technique which interpolates the interpolation points of horizontal and vertical direction by weighting according to the direction of edge information with the component of FOI(First Order Interpolation)and output of the pseudomedian filter for image enlargement and interpolates the interpolation points of diagonal direction by selectively transposing the direction of the subwindows of the pseudomedian filter according to the distribution of neighbored pixels thereto in the extended image. According to the proposed methods, the digital image enlargement which preserves the characteristic of the pseudomedian filter capable of keeping the reconstruction of edge information and reflects the advantage of FOI can be performed. Therefore, visual artifacts could be effectively suppressed, and most characteristics and shape of the original image can be reconstructed as well.

This paper presents an evaluation of new drill and blast method with two different drilling directions for pilot tunnel enlargement using numerical experiment and field test. To evaluate the effieiency of new tunnel enlargement method, field tests were performed and compared with conventional drill and blast method. Also, three dimensional transient dynamic analysis was made to investigate the effect of the ground vibration when blasting was performed at same position using the equivalent single hole charge.

This paper will review the state of the latest development of AMLCD manufacturing facilities for large Substrate and discuss the future technologies. The trend of the display size enlargement of Note book PC has hauled the enlargement of the mother glass substrate in past 10 years. The enlargement of a substrate size has brought about the productivity improvement of the TFT panel with process innovation as yet. Will this trend be continuing hereafter too? The issues of the processing and facilities related with the large square substrate and mask step reduction will be overviewed and the future processing and facilities will be discussed.

The enlargement of existing tunnels is required to cope with problems related to traffic congestion. Sometimes, the tunnel traffic must be maintained through existing tunnels during their reconstruction due to non-availability of detours. And excavation by drill and blasting is desired for widening a hard rock tunnel. In this case, the road must be closed for some period for blasting through analyzing of traffic volume. In this paper, a case study on some traffic countermeasures for tunnel enlargement by blasting was performed. And the traffic flow characteristics of some tunnels in domestic main city were analyzed.

The authors treated a 58-year old female patient who had come to the Department of Oral Medicine, KNUH due to the chief complaints of gingival enlargement and bleeding on the upper and lower jaw. The lesions were diagnosed as cyclosporin-A induced gingival enlargement by patient's history and clinical examination. The patient was treated with gingivectomy using pulsed Nd:YAG laser. After gingivectomy the wound was compressed with 0.1% chlorhexidine-soaked gauze to prevent relapse of the lesion. Good healing process was observed and there were no recurrences until 3-month follow-up visit. From the results of this clinical trial it was suggested that a pulsed Nd:YAG laser gingivectomy would be helpful for the treatment of cyclosporin-A induced gingival enlargement in renal transplant patients.

Ninety-six patients with tetralogy of Fallot have undergone either primary total correction [71], staged total correction [9], or an initial shunt [16], between January, 1984, and December, 1987 Their mean age was 9.5 years, mean body weight 24kg, and mean body surface area 0.86m2. Initial palliative shunt group had smaller size, smaller pulmonary artery, and higher hemoglobin [P value < 0.05 >. Modified Blalock-Taussig shunt was performed most commonly. Patch enlargement of right ventricle in 31 cases [38%], right ventricle and pulmonary artery in 7 cases [9%], transannular patch enlargement in 28 cases [35%], and valved conduit in 2 cases [2.5%] was performed for reconstruction of right ventricular outflow tract stenosis. Longer aorta cross clamp time was noted in case of separate patch enlargement of right ventricle and pulmonary artery, and dead patient with transannular patch enlargement [P value < 0.05]. There was no operative death in shunt group, but 7 deaths in total correction group [mortality rate 8.8%].

Localized gingival enlargement is a common finding and tends to be reactive hyperplasia. Gingival reactive lesions are usually asymptomatic and respond to conservative treatment. However, a small entity of localized gingival enlargement is distinct from non-neoplastic growth, including developmental and neoplastic lesions. Since their clinical characteristics are similar with other lesions of gingiva, it can cause diagnostic dilemma, and is recommended to submit biopsy and confirm pathologic diagnosis. Their incidence of recurrence are different, therefore method of treatment should vary depending on the diagnosis. This review explains identification and treatment of localized gingival lesions.
