Development of Simulation Model Based Optimal Start and Stop Control Daily Strategy (시뮬레이션 모델기반 냉난방 설비 일별 최적 기동/정지 제어기법 개발)

  • This work aims to develop a platform to investigate the effect of operation schedules on the building energy consumption and to derive a simulation model based optimal start and stop daily strategy. An open-source building energy simulation tool DOE2 is used for the engine, and the developed simulation model is validated using ASHRAE guideline 14. The effect of late-start/early-stop operation of HVAC system on the daily building energy consumption was analyzed using the developed simulation model. It was found that about 10% of energy consumption cut was possible using the control strategy for an hour of advance of the stop operation, and about 3% per an hour of delay of the start operation.

  • Planar laser induced fluorescence(PLIF) has been widely used to obtain two dimensional fuel distribution. Preliminary investigation was performed to measure quantitative air excess ratio distribution in an engine fueled with LPG. It is known that fluorescence signal from acetone as a fluorescent tracer is less sensitive to oxygen quenching than other dopants. Acetone was excited by KrF excimer laser (248nm) and its fluorescence image was acquired by ICCD camera with a cut-of filter to suppress Mie scattering from the laser light. For the purpose of quantifying PLIF signal, an image processing method including the correction of laser sheet beam profile was suggested. Raw images were divided by each intensity of laser energy and profile of laser sheet beam. Inhomogeneous fluorescence images scaled with the reference data, which was taken by a calibration process, were converted to air excess ratio distribution. This investigation showed instantaneous quantitative measurement of planar air excess ratio distribution for gaseous fuel.

  • Equalizing the state of charge of cell that affects the charge/discharge quality and efficiency of the battery through the charge/discharge characteristic experiments of battery source, we develope the high efficiency charge/discharge system which would be used in serial HEV with the constant engine-generator output. For this, establishes the electrical model of Ni-MH battery appropriate to the high efficiency charge/discharge conditions. There is no model of Ni-MH cell, so we used Ni-Cd model and obtain the Ni-MH model through the experiment. A reason that each cell has the same charge/discharge property for applying the cell model to serial/parallel connected battery source extensively is needed. Therefore, in this paper, propose the Ni-MH charger/discharger has the equalization charging function and selectable cut-off function.

FATIGUE LIFE PREDICTION OF RUBBER MATERIALS USING TEARING ENERGY

  • It has been almost impossible to predict the fatigue life in the field of rubber materials by numerical methods. One of the reasons is that there are no obvious fracture criteria and excessively various ways of mixing processes. Tearing energy is considered as a fracture criterion which can be applied to rubber compounds regardless of different types of fillers, relative to other fracture factors. Fatigue life of rubber materials can be approximately predicted based on the assumption that the latent defect caused by contaminants or voids in the matrix, imperfectly dispersed compounding ingredients, mold lubricants and surface flaws always exists. Numerical expression for the prediction of fatigue life was derived from the rate of rough cut growth region and the formulated tearing energy equation. Endurance test data for dumbbell specimens were compared with the predicted fatigue life for verification. Also, fatigue life of industrial rubber components was predicted.

  • In this study, medium capacity EHP and GHP for air-conditioning a building with a floor area of $1,200\;m^2$ are compared economically. To consider all the factors of initial and operation costs effectively, an annual equal payment method is proposed. For the initial cost, equipment, construction, installation, electric facility, financial subsidy and tax cut are considered. Basic electricity, energy(electricity and gas), space charge, labor, insurance and repair are considered for the operation cost. Under the assumptions made in this study, overall cost of EHP is less than that of GHP. However, different outcome may result if different assumptions are made. This study is useful for performing an economic evaluation of various air-conditioning systems.

  • The power split hybrid power train is considered to be one of the most prospective configuration for the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). Toyota Prius, representing this type of vehicle, showed outstanding performances in fuel efficiency, emission reduction and acceleration. The excellence is largely due to the fact that it utilizes almost all operation modes of HEV. Those modes include ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle) driving, idle stop, fuel cut-off, power assist, active charging, regenerative braking and so forth. In this paper, a few of the mode operations were simulated using AVL Cruise. Also, control logics to operate the powertrain in each mode were developed. The states of powertrain components were displayed and analyzed. By controlling the three components (engine, motor and generator), it was possible to run the powertrain in several hybrid operation modes.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study for fire example by fuel leakage in LPG Vehicle. At first example, the car was repaired the fuel line that was connected with pressure hose between fuel regulator and injector in engine. But the service man was not very tighten with regular torque. At a result, the gas leaked on hot parts of engine. It verified the production of fire by engine heat. At second example, when the repair man, after replacement the injector, inserted the injector in a assembling part of it, he didn't the transform condition of fixing part. Therefore, the tearing phenomenon of O ring producted the controlled leakage of fuel by the injector deflection. It found the fact that the fuel leaked with gap of O ring. At third example. the fuel-cut solenoid valve was lined with pressure regulator unit. But the service man didn't throughly certify the leaked work of connected parts after repaired it. As a result, it certified the fire by engine heating leaked liquefied petroleum gas. Therefore it have to minimize the fire production that the driver should do no problem to throughly manage the fuel system.

  • For many years there has been a trend to increased electrical energy consumption in cars caused by the replacement of mechanical parts by electronic or mechanical devices as well as the introduction of new electronic features. Whereas the number of electrical consumers continues to increase, the battery is still the only passive power source available. Because of this reason, needs for driving power of the engine accessories such as alternator system have increased. Usually, conventional alternator system is directly driven by the crankshaft of engine with belt. Since this increase bring about additional fuel economy. To improve this system automobile makers develops new controled alternator system. This paper focuses on fuel economy improvement according to control of alternator. In this paper, researches are performed on effect of type of Alternator system on fuel economy by experiment. And it is also calculated the effect on vehicle fuel economy using computer simulation with AVL cruise software. As a result, 0.64% of vehicle fuel economy improvement can be achieved in a vehicle with controled Alternator system compared to a vehicle with conventional Alternator system in NEDC mode.

Lightweight Design of a Main Starting Air Valve through FSI Analysis (구조연성해석을 통한 메인스타팅 에어밸브의 경량화설계)

  • The role of a main starting air valve is to supply compressed air to the diesel engine for starting the stopped diesel engine of a ship and cut off the air during normal operation. In this study, the main starting air valve with 80mm size was designed based on the developed valve with 50mm size. The concept design of the 80A main starting air valve was completed by using CATIA. Then, fluid analysis was performed to investigate the flow characteristics such as pressure and velocity distribution. Sequentially, structural analysis using FSI was performed. In this study, ANSYS CFX and ANSYS Workbench are utilized. The heavy weight of the body can deteriorate the strength performance of neighbor elements, leading to undesirable effect on flow characteristics. Thus, in this research, a lightweight design of the body was suggested satisfying strength requirement. The weight of the suggested design was reduced by 7kg, and the strength satisfied its requirement.

The Transfer Characteristics of $CO_2$ Extinguishant According with the Location of Fire Plume (화재위치에 따른 $CO_2$소화제 전달특성)

  • To analyze the transfer characteristics of $CO_2$ extinguishant when extinguishant is injected into a closed space similar to a marine engine room, a numerical simulation was performed. Flow and Concentration fields are calculated according with the variation of the fire plume,s location. The results show that tile variation of fire plumes, location greatly effected on the flow patterns and the characteristics of $CO_2$ extinguishant transfer. In case of the fire plume located at left region of the 2nd floor center in the engine room consisted of first and second floor, The effects similar to the air curtain is found and cut off the mass transfer. In the characteristics with hight, the iso-concentration line below the extinguishable limit is formed in the left region of the 1st and 2nd floor center after the $CO_2$ extinguishant is completely injected. therefore I think that the results of this study are considered to arrange the $CO_2$ injection nozzles for the $CO_2$ fire fighting equipments.
