Energy consumption has grown alongside dramatic population increases. Statistics show that buildings in particular utilize a significant amount of energy, worldwide. Because of this, building energy prediction is crucial to best optimize utilities' energy plans and also create a predictive model for consumers. To improve energy prediction performance, this paper proposes a ResNet-LSTM model that combines residual networks (ResNets) and long short-term memory (LSTM) for energy consumption prediction. ResNets are utilized to extract complex and rich features, while LSTM has the ability to learn temporal correlation; the dense layer is used as a regression to forecast energy consumption. To make our model more robust, we employed Huber loss during the optimization process. Huber loss obtains high efficiency by handling minor errors quadratically. It also takes the absolute error for large errors to increase robustness. This makes our model less sensitive to outlier data. Our proposed system was trained on historical data to forecast energy consumption for different time series. To evaluate our proposed model, we compared our model's performance with several popular machine learning and deep learning methods such as linear regression, neural networks, decision tree, and convolutional neural networks, etc. The results show that our proposed model predicted energy consumption most accurately.
In actual seawater desalination plant, the pressure loss due to frictional force of pipe is about 3~5 bar. Also, the pressure loss at pipe connection about 1~3 bar. Therefore, the total pressure loss in the pipe is expected to be about 4~8 bar, which translates into 0.111 to 0.222 kWh/㎥ of energy when converted into the Specific Energy Consumption(SEC). Reducing energy consumption is the most important factor in ensuring the economics of seawater desalination processes, but pressure loss in piping is often not considered in plant design. It is difficult to prevent pressure loss due to friction inside the pipe, but pressure loss at the pipe connection can be reduced by proper pipe design. In this study, seawater desalination plant piping analysis was performed using a commercial network program. The pressure loss and SEC for each case were calculated and compared by seawater desalination plant size.
In this paper, we conducted high velocity impact test for Carbon/Epoxy composite laminates and proposed advanced method for predicting the absorbed energy of composite laminates. During high-velocity impact test, we discovered loss of projectile mass macroscopically using high speed camera, thus we calculated the absorbed energy of composite laminates by taking loss of projectile mass into account. We proposed a model for predicting the absorbed energy of composite laminates subjected to high-velocity impact, the absorbed energy was classified into static energy and dynamic energy. The static energy was calculated by the quasi-static perforation equation that is related to the fiber breakage and static elastic energy. The dynamic energy can be divided by the kinetic energy of deformed specimen and fragment mass. Finally, the predicted absorbed energy considering loss of projectile mass was compared with experimental results.

Insertion loss prediction of large acoustical enclosures using Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) method is presented. The SEA model consists of three elements: sound field inside the enclosure, vibration energy of the enclosure panel, and sound field outside the enclosure. It is assumed that the space surrounding the enclosure is sufficiently large so that there is no energy flow from the outside to the wall panel or to air cavity inside the enclosure. The comparison of the predicted insertion loss to the measured data for typical large acoustical enclosures shows good agreements. It is found that if the critical frequency of the wall panel falls above the frequency region of interest, insertion loss is dominated by the sound transmission loss of the wall panel and averaged sound absorption coefficient inside the enclosure. However, if the critical frequency of the wall panel falls into the frequency region of interest, acoustic power from the sound radiation by the wall panel must be added to the acoustic power from transmission through the panel.
In this study, we analyzed the correlation between mechanical and electrical properties of low-temperature conductive film (LT-CF) bonded silicon solar cells by a quadrant analysis (horizontal axis (peeling strength), vertical axis (power loss)). We found that a series of points with various bonding parameters such as bonding temperature, pressure and time were distributed in the different three regimes; weak regime (Q2: weak bonding strength and high power loss), moderate regime (Q4 : strong bonding strength and low power loss) and hard regime (Q3 : weak bonding strength and low power loss). Using this analogous technique, it was possible to fabricate the LT-CF bonded silicon solar cells with the various conditions displayed in Q3 of the quadrant plots, possessing the peeling strength of ~ 1N/mm and power loss of 2~3%.

The Statistical Energy Analysis is based on the power flow and the energy conservation between sub-systems, which enable the prediction of acoustic and structural vibration behavior in mid-high frequency ranges. This paper discusses the identification of SEA coupling loss factor parameters from experimental measurements of small reverberation chamber sound pressure levels and structural accelerations. As structural subsystems, steel plates with and without damping treatment are considered. Calculated CLFs were verified by both transmission loss values for air-borne CLF case and running SEA commercial software As a result, CLFs have shown a good agreement with those computed by software. Acoustical behavior of air-borne noise and structure-borne noise has been examined. which shows reasonable results, too.
Purpose: The prevalence of weight loss in esophageal carcinoma patients is high and associated with impairment of physical function, increased psychological distress and low quality of life. It is not known which factors may contribute to weight loss in patients with esophageal carcinoma during radiotherapy in China. The objective of this study was to identify the associated demographic and clinical factors influencing weight loss. Methods: We evaluated 159 esophageal carcinoma patients between August 2010 and August 2013 in a crosssectional, descriptive study. Patient characteristics, tumor and treatment details, psychological status, adverse effects, and dietary intake were evaluated at baseline and during radiotherapy. A multivariate logistic regression analyss was performed to identify the potential factors leading to weight loss. Results: 64 (40.3%) patients had weight loss ${\geq}5%$ during radiotherapy. According to logistic regression analysis, depression, esophagitis, and loss of appetite were adverse factors linked to weight loss. Dietary counseling, early stage disease and total energy intake ${\geq}1441.3$ (kcal/d) were protective factors. Conclusions It was found that dietary counseling, TNM stage, total energy intake, depression, esophagitis, and loss of appetite were the most important factors for weight loss. The results underline the importance of maintaining energy intake and providing dietary advice in EC patients during RT. At the same time, by identifying associated factors, medical staff can provide appropriate medical care to reduce weight loss. Further studies should determine the effect of these factors on weight loss and propose a predictive model.
The world population is consuming more than 1/3 of the total energy for heating housings. Particularly in our country, 21% of the consumption energy is occupied by building section. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the energy efficiency in buildings, thus promoting a comfortable residential environment while minimizing energy consumption. Accordingly, this study presents considerations for implementing high-insulated and airtight passive houses. This study selected four houses with passive house design applied, performed building energy performance through PHPP2007, a German passive house design simulation program, and compared the building-specific heat loss and heat gain. As a result, the most vulnerable part to heat loss was turned out to be a window and the heat loss was caused by outer wall, roof, and ventilation. Accordingly, for the implementation of passive house, it is necessary to make a careful plan and airtight construction that are complementary to various parts through the energy performance analysis started from the design phase.
In this research, piezoelectric smart structures are applied for SEA(Statistical Energy Analysis), which is well known approach for high frequency analysis. A new input power measurement based on piezoelectric electrical power measurement is proposed and compared with the conventional method in SEA. As an example, a simple aluminum beam on which piezoelectric actuator is attached is considered. By measuring the electrical impedance and electrical current of the piezoelectric actuator, the electrical power given on the actuator is found and this is In turn converted into the mechanical energy. From the measured value of the stored energy of the beam, the Internal loss factor is calculated and this value shows a good agreement with that given by the conventional method as well as the theoretical value. To compare the coupling loss factor, L-shape beam system which consists of a aluminum beam subsystem and a steel beam subsystem coupled by three pin is taken as second example. The input power and stored energy of each subsystem are found by the proposed approach. The coupling loss factor found by the electrical input power obtained from the piezoelectric actuator exhibits similar trend to the value found by the conventional method as well as the theoretical value. In conclusion, the use of SEA for high frequency application of piezoelectric smart structures is Possible. Especially, the input power that is essential for SEA can be found accurately by measuring the electrical input power of the piezoelectric actuator.
