  • Latent heat storage system using micro-encapsuled phase change material is effective method for floor heating of house and building. The temperature profile in capsule block and flow rate of hot water are important parameters for the development of heat storage system. In the present study, a mathematical model based on 3-D, non-steady state, Navier-Stokes equations, scalar conservation equations and turbulence model ($\kappa$-$\varepsilon$), is used to predict the temperature profiles in capsule and the velocity vectors in hot water pipe. The multi-block grids and fine grids embedding are used to join the circle in hot water pipe and square in capsule block. The phase change process of the capsule is quite complex not only because the size of phase change material is very small, but also because phase change material is mixed with the cement to form thermal storage block. In calculation, it's assumed that the phenomena of phase change is limited only the thermal properties of phase change material and the change of boundary is not happened in capsule. The purpose of this study is to calculate the temperature profiles in capsule block and velocity vectors in hot water pipe using the numerical calculation. Two kinds of thermal boundary condition were considered, the first (case 1) is the adiabatic condition for the both outside surfaces of the wall, the second (case 2) is the case in which one surface is natural convection with atmosphere and another surface is adaibatic. Calculation results are shown that the temperature profile in capsule block for case 1 is higher than that for case 2 due to less heat loss in adaibatic surface. Specially, in the domain of near Y=0, the difference of temperature is greater in case 1 than in case 2. The detailed experimental data of capsule block on the temperature profile and the thermal properties such as specific heat and coefficient of heat transfer with the various temperature are required to predict more exact phenomena of heat transfer.

  • Because of rapid growth of data size, the number of data storage has been increased. When using multiple data storages, a distribute file system is essential to insure the availability of data files. The power consumption is a major problem when using a distributed file system with many data storages. Previous works have aimed at reducing the energy consumption with efficient file block layout by changing some data servers into stand-by mode. The file block migration has not been seriously considered because migration causes large cost. But when we consider addition of a new data server or file, file block migration is needed. This paper formulates the minimization of data block migration as an ILP optimization problem and solves it using branch-and-bound method. Using this technique, we can maximize the number of stand-by data servers with the minimum number of file block movement. However, computation time of branch-and-bound method of an ILP optimization problem increases exponentially as the problem size grows. Therefore this paper also proposes a data block and data server grouping method to solve many small ILP problems.

  • Yellowish uranium compounds were enriched at the interface between a Ca-bentonite block and a waste glass, containing about $20\%$ uranium oxide, in contact with the block due to the dissolution of uranium by a synthetic granitic groundwater in Ar atmosphere. The uranium compound formed for 6 years leach time was identified as a beta-uranophane $[Ca(UO_2)_2(SiO_{3}OH)_{2}5H_{2}O]$ using XRD, IR and mass spectrometer. The solubility of the beta-uranophane was measured to be about $10^{-6}\;mole/L$ in de-mineralized water at $80^{\circ}C$.

  • Nowadays, energy saving has become a hot topic and information and communication technology has become a major power consumer. In long term evolution advanced (LTE-A) networks, heterogeneous deployments of low-power nodes and conventional macrocells provide some new features, such as coverage extension, throughput enhancement, and load balancing. However, a large-scale deployment of low-power nodes brings substantial energy consumption and interference problems. In this paper, we propose a novel switching strategy (NS), which adaptively switches on or off some low-power nodes based on the instantaneous load of the system. It is compatible with the microcells' load balancing feature and can be easily implemented on the basis of existing LTE-A specifications. Moreover, we develop an analytical model for analyzing the performance of system energy consumption, block rate, throughput, and energy efficiency. The performance of NS is evaluated by comparison with existing strategies. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that NS not only has a low block rate, but also achieves a high energy efficiency.

  • Sloshing frequencies of the fluid in rectangular tanks with a bottom-mounted rectangular block are determined by linear water wave theory. Velocity potential is decomposed into those for the wall-induced waves, and the reflected, transmitted, and scattered waves by the block. The reflection and transmission coefficients are determined using the continuity conditions of mass flux and energy flux on the common vertical boundaries of the fluid regions, and the boundary conditions on the both sides of the block. The analysis results indicate that the sloshing frequencies reduce, as the block becomes tall and vade and as the block moves toward the center. The variations of the sloshing frequencies due to the block are found to be more sensitive in broad thanks than is tall tanks.

  • Data transmission in poor environment like underwater has considerably serious delay rate and ewer rate. Like this environment usually has heavy fluctuation of error rate and limited wireless communication state. Therefore, mechanism using in such environment has to be efficient and simple. This paper suggests a new block ack mechanism, called the Pervasive Block ACK (PBA), which transmits aggregated ACKs. This mechanism takes effect on reducing number of traffic, decreasing overhead and delay rate in poor environment networks like underwater. Additionally, we can expect energy consumption. We verify propriety and efficiency of PBA through describing numerical result based analytical formula in this paper.

  • Video compression exploits statistical, spatial, and temporal redundancy, as well as transform and quantization. In particular, the transform in a frequency domain plays a major role in energy compaction of spatial domain data into frequency domain data. The high efficient video coding standard uses the type-II discrete cosine transform (DCT-II) and type-VII discrete sine transform (DST-VII) to improve the coding efficiency of residual data. However, the DST-VII is applied only to the Intra $4{\times}4$ residual block because it yields relatively small gains in the larger block than in the $4{\times}4$ block. In this study, after rearranging the data of the residual block, we apply the DST-VII to the inter-residual block to achieve coding gain. The rearrangement of the residual block data is similar to the arrangement of the basis vector with a the lowest frequency component of the DST-VII. Experimental results show that the proposed method reduces the luma-chroma (Cb+Cr) BD rates by approximately 0.23% to 0.22%, 0.44% to 0.58%, and 0.46% to 0.65% for the random access, low delay B, and low delay P configurations, respectively.

  • This paper presents an analysis of the results of an experimental program on the performance of a novel configuration of a hybrid FRP-concrete beam. The beam section consists of a GFRP pultruded profile, a CFRP laminate, and a concrete block all wrapped up using filament winding. It was found that the thickness of the concrete block and the confinement by the filament-wound wrapping had a profound effect on the energy dissipation behaviour of the beam. Using a shear punching model, and comparing the predicted results with the experimental ones, it was found that beyond a given value of the concrete block thickness, the deformational behaviour of the beam shifts from brittle to ductile. It was also found that the filament-wound wrap had many benefits such as providing a composite action between the concrete block and the GFRP box, improving the stiffness of the beam, and most importantly, enhancing the load carrying ability through induced confinement of the concrete.

  • We have designed the calculation model(AMC method) of electron output for the cut-out fieldsand studied the influence of shielding block size. The output of electron was measured in the water phantom at dmax, for 20 $\times$ 20cm$^2$ cone size electron beams from CL/1800 linear accelerator(Varian, USA), Which generates the energy of 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18MeV electron beams. The shielding blocks were rectangular or squre shaped, low melting point alloy. We can predict the output from the arbitrarily rectangular shaped block within 1% error. by using the AMC method, which considers the contribution of the collimator(block) scatter and the phantom scatter.
