비수유화법에 의한 미세 O/W에멀젼의 특성 (The Characteristics of a Fine O/W Emulsion by Nonaqeous Emulsification)

  • 비수유화법을 이용한 미세 O/W에멀젼의 제조 기술에 관한 연구로 표면장력, 계면장력, 탁도 및 전이온도를 통하여 비수용매/기름에서의 POE(25)octyldodecyl ether의 거동을 연구하였다. POE(25)octyldodecyl ether는 물 용매에서의 미셀 형성과는 달리 비수용매에서는 용해되었다. 글리세린과 같은 용매에서는 POE(25)octyldodecyl ether의 용해력은 약했으며 표면으로 이동되었다. 표면에서 포화된 후 POE(25)octyldodecyl ether는 석출 현상을 보였다. 최종 에멀젼의 평균입자 크기는 230nm 이었으며 한달 동안의 0, 25, 40, $50^{\circ}C$ 및 순환시험에 안정하였으나 일반적인 에멀젼은 불안정하였다. 따라서 적절한 용매의 조합에 의해 계면활성제의 흡착 효율을 증가시킬 수 있었다.

  • 최근 국내 터널현장에서 기계식 장전장비를 활용한 벌크에멀전 (bulk emulsion) 폭약의 수요가 증가되면서 국내 암반 및 주변여건에 적합한 발파의 합리적인 설계기준이 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 현재까지 국내에서 기계식 장전장비를 활용한 벌크에멀젼 폭약을 적용하여 시공한 사례 중 굴진효율 및 여굴량이 양호한 발파결과를 근거로 암반등급별 최적 비장약량과 영역별 적정 장약량을 검토하였다. 또한, 조건을 만족하는 발파결과를 분석하여 RMR 암반분류와 벌크에멀젼 폭약의 최적 비장약량과의 상관식 $({\Upsilon}= 0.669 + (0.0154{\times}RMR),\;r=0.81)$을 얻었고, 영역별로 천공장 변화에 따른 적정 장약량 범위를 산출하였다.

  • 비수유화법을 이용하여 안정하고 미세한 O/W유화물을 제조하였다. 유화제는 Polyoxyethylene(25)octyldodecyl ether, 오일은 유동파라핀, 비수용매는 프로필렌글리콜, 글리세린, PEG400을 사용하였다. 제조된 최종 O/W에멀젼의 안정성은 입자크기분석기를 통하여 각 보관 조건에 따른 경시별 평균 유화입자크기 변화를 측정하였다. 0도씨, 25도씨, 40도씨, cycle, freeze & thaw 모두 1달 이상 230nm의 평균 유화입자크기를 보여 주었다. 인공광, 자연광 노출에 따른 광안정성 실험에서도 모두 입자 크기 변화 없이 안정했다. 또한 비수 용매에서의 계면활성제 거동을 알아보고자 각 용매에 따른 표면장력, 계면장력 및 탁도를 측정한 결과 계면활성제가 물에서 미셀을 형성하는 것과는 달리 비수용매에서는 폴리올의 종류에 따라 용해와 석출 현상이 나타났고 이러한 용해와 석출 현상이 계면활성제의 계면 흡착 효율성에 큰 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다.

Orthokinetic Stability of $\beta$-Lactoglubulin-Stabilized Emulsions : Effects of Protein Heat Treatment and Surfactant Addition

  • Effects of protein heat treatment and surfactant additionoo the orthokindetic stability of $\beta$-lactoglobulin-stabilized emulsions have been investigated under turbulent flow conditions. In studies on protein-stabilized emulsions, samples which had been subjected to heat treatment(i.e. the protein solution orthe emulsion) have been found to be more prone to orthokinetic coalescene than the untreated ones. The emulsions stabilized with protein heated above the denaturation temperature(i.e. 7$0^{\circ}C$) showed the bigger initial average droplet size, which resulted in an increased orthokinetic coalescenece rate. The storage of the protein-stabilized emulsion at high temperature prior to the shearing experiment also made the emulsion less stable in the shear field. Interestingly. the addition of DATEM has been found to produce a substantial increase in orthokinetic stability of the heat-denatured protein-stabilized emulsion system, although Tween 20 is the opposite case.

  • A cationic lipid emulsion (o/w) containing lipiodol and 1, 2-dioleoyl-sn- glycero-3-trimethylammonium-propane (DOTAP) has been prepared as a gene delivery system. In order to increase the transfection efficiency of the lipiodol emulsion, 1 2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-ethanolamine (DOPE) and polyoxyethylene sorbitan monooleate (Tween 80) were incorporated as additional lipids. By including DOPE and Tween 80, the cationic emulsion became a more potent gene carrier under in vitro condition in the presence of serum, and under in vivo condition. (omitted)

Antioxidative Effects of Mushroom Flammulina velutipes Extract on Polyunsaturated Oils in Oil-in-water Emulsion

  • The antioxidative activities of the water solution of crude extract from edible mushroom enokitake Flammulina velutipes were compared with those of ascorbic acid and ascorbic acid 6-palmitate in oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions of cod liver oil. Oxidation of the emulsions was carried out at 40 and $50^{\circ}C$ in the dark. The antioxidant activities were measured by in vitro assay against oxygen uptake, 2-thiobarbituric acid value, hydroperoxide formation of the oils. Also, residual docosahexaenoic acid content was measured as indices of lipid oxidation. The cod liver oil in O/W emulsions with added enokitake crude extract (ECE) was significantly more stable against lipid oxidation than the control emulsions without the extract in terms of any oxidation indices used. Moreover, ECE provided remarkable antioxidative properties to eicosapentaenoic acid ethyl ester in emulsion system. These observations demonstrate that F. velutipes can be used as a natural antioxidant, which effectively prevents oxidation of polyunsaturated oils in emulsion system.

  • Natural rubber(NR)-polyacrylamide(PAAm) graft copolymers(GP)(toluene soluble GP : TSGP, water dispersible GP : WDGP) have been synthesized as coupling agents by pre-emulsification methods based on "inverse emulsion graft polymerization" technique. The polymerization was carried out at $65^{\circ}C$ using Azobisisobytyro nitrile(AIBN) as an initiator in the inverse emulsion system formed by inxing NR toluene solution with inverse emulsion of awueous AAm solution emulsified with $Tween^{\#}$ 80 in toluene. The mechanism of inverse emulsion graft copolymerization was studied on AAm conversion, % grafting, grafting efficiency, NR conversion, production ratio of TSGP and amount of GP(sum of TSGP and WDGP). The reaction has been confirmed through use of optical microscope to proceed via adsorption of emulsifier colloid particles onto the stretched NR molecule. From the analysis of the effects of various polymerization conditions on the grafting, it has also been found that the present rection system can easily yield high(over 90%) grafting efficiency and AAm conversion and relatively high(over 80%) NR conversion.onversion.

O/W 유제의 물리적 안정성에 대한 PVP의 영향 (Effect of PVP on the Physical Stability of O/W Emulsion)

  • To make a stable o/w emulsion, the effects of egg lecithin as an emulsifier and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as an auxiliary emulsifier on the physical stability of emulsion were investigated. The oil-in-water emulsion system was manufactured by microfluidizer and evaluated the physical stability. Average particle size and size distribution of emulsion was measured by dynamic light scattering analyzer and interfacial tension was measured. From the interfacial tension tested, critical micelle concentration of the egg lecithin was 0.1 %w/v and optimal concentration for the preparation of emulsion was 1.0 %w/v. The mean particle size was about $0.2\;{\mu}m$ which was suitable for injections. The short-term accelerated stability studies were conducted by centrifugation, freeze-thaw method and shaking of the emulsion samples. The addition of PVP was caused the reduction in the particle size and improved the physical stability of emulsion. These results suggested that a mixed interfacial film comprising the egg lecithin and PVP was formed at the o/w interface and it was effective in preventing phase separation under thermic or mechanical stress. We used antineoplaston A10 (A10) as a model drug which is peptide and amino acid derivative having a action to the living organism against the development of neoplastic growth by a nonimmunological progress. It has a poor solubility in water and there may be a difficulty in formulation of A10. Emulsion formulation study about A10 was performed. Solubility of A10 in emulsion was about five times as high as that in water. From the results of solubility and partition coefficient, almost A10 molecules in o/w emulsion exist in the interface between oil and water.

EVA 에멀젼의 내수성 및 기계적 특성에 미치는 금속 이온 가교제의 효과 (Effect of Metal Ionic Crosslinking Agents on the Water Resistance and Mechancial Properties of EVA Emulsion)

  • 본 연구에서는 EVA 에멀젼에 내수성 및 기계적 특성을 향상시키기 위하여 금속 이온 가교제인 calcium hydroxide 및 magnesium carbonate를 사용하여 이온성 가교결합을 도입하였다. EVA 에멀젼 필름의 가교밀도, 열적특성, 표면자유에너지 그리고 인장강도, 파단신율 및 인열강도 특성을 고찰하였다. 금속 이온 가교제 양이 증가함에 따라 EVA 에멀젼의 가교밀도는 증가하였고, 이에 내수성과 $T_g$ 값도 증가하였다. 그러나 EVA 에멀젼 필름의 표면에너지 및 기계적 특성들은 다소 다른 거동을 보였다. Calcium hydroxide 0.4% 그리고 magnesium carbonate 0.5%를 첨가한 경우가 EVA 에멀젼에 강한 이온성 가교결합이 형성되어 가장 높은 표면 자유에너지 값과 인장강도 및 인열강도를 보였다. 그러므로 본 연구에서 calcium hydroxide 및 magnesium carbonate와 같은 금속 이온 가교제가 EVA 에멀젼의 내수성과 기계적 물성을 향상시킴을 확인하였다.

Effects of pH-Shift Processing and Microbial Transglutaminase on the Gel and Emulsion Characteristics of Porcine Myofibrillar System

  • This study investigated the effects of microbial transglutaminase (MTGase) and pH-shift processing on the functional properties of porcine myofibrillar proteins (MP). The pH-shift processing was carried out by decreasing the pH of MP suspension to 3.0, followed by re-adjustment to pH 6.2. The native (CM) and pH-shifted MP (PM) was reacted with and without MTGase, and the gelling and emulsion characteristics were compared. To compare the pH-shifted MTGase-treated MP (PT), deamidation (DM) was conducted by reacting MTGase with MP at pH 3.0. Rigid thermal gel was produced by MTGase-treated native MP (CT) and PT. PM and DM showed the lowest storage modulus (G') at the end of thermal scanning. Both MTGase and pH-shifting produced harder MP gel, and the highest gel strength was obtained in PT. All treatments yielded lower than CM, and CT showed significantly higher yield than PM and DM treatments. For emulsion characteristics, pH-shifting improved the emulsifying ability of MP-stabilized emulsion, while the treatments had lower emulsion stability. PM-stabilized emulsion exhibited the lowest creaming stability among all treatments. The emulsion stability could be improved by the usage of MTGase. The results indicated that pH-shifting combined with MTGase had a potential application to modify or improve functional properties of MP in manufacturing of meat products.
