Adsorption Characteristic and Elution Behavior of Rare Earth Metals by Cryptand 22 Synthetic Resin (Cryptand 22 합성수지에 의한 희토류 금속들의 흡착특성과 용리행동)

  • Resins with cryptand 22 macrocyclic ligand attached to chloromethylated styrene-1,4-divinylbenzene by substitution reaction were prepared and the effect of pH, metal concentration and cross-linkage of the matrix on the adsorption for $UO_2^{2+}$, $Cd^{2+}$ and $Sm^{3+}$ was investigated. The metal ion was not adsorbed on the resins pH range below 3 but above pH 4 fast adsorption behavior was showed. The resin selectivity determined in ethanol matrix was in increasing order $UO_2^{2+}{\;}>Cd^{2+}{\;}Sm^{3+}$. In addition, these metal ion could be separated on the column packed with 1% crosslinked resin by pH 2.5 $HNO_3$ as an eluent.

  • A high-performance liquid chromatographic method for the determination of ${\beta}$-sitosterol in the unsaponifiable fraction of Zea mays L. and its related drug preparations using a cholesterol as an internal standard was investigated. They were saponified with 20% methanolic KOH solution. Phytosterols in the reaction mixture were extracted with diethyl ether and separated on silica gel TLC plate with n-hexane-diethyl ether(40:60) as the solvent and then were scraped off. They were separated by reversed phase high perfomance liquid chromatography on Inertsil ODS-2 column with detection at 205nm. Cholesterol and ${\beta}$-sitosterol were resolved from interferences by adjusting the acetonitrile content in the MeOH-tetrahydrofuran-$H_2O$ eluent. The detection limit of ${\beta$-sitosterol was 0.43${\mu}$g.

  • An alternative to the well known reversed-phase separations on chemically-boned phases has been developed. The approach is based on a dynamic modification of bare silica with long chain quaternary ammonium ions. The influence of the concentration and type of quaternary ammonium ion, the pH value and the ionic strength of the eluent on the selectivity towards test solutes has been investigated. The large number of parameters that can be attained. Once established, a high degree of reproducibility of the selectivity between solutes is obtained even when using different brands of silica; this is in contrast to the situation when using chemically-bonded phases, such as for example, different brands of octadecylsilyl-bonded silica materials. Examples of the use of system in pharmaceutical analysis and drug metabolism studies are given.

  • Benomyl, topsin-M and thiram been known as one of the seed disinfectant. For these studies benomyl, topsin-M and thiram simultaneously had been analyzed by high performance liquid chromatographic method using ODS cartridge, benomyl, topsin-M and thiram was chromatographed using an ODS column and eluent 40% Acetonitrile at a flow rate of 1ml/min.   • In boiling aqueous solution, D-amygdalin usually begins to convert into neoamygdalin in 3 min and more than 30% of the initial D-amygdalin is found as neoamygdalin after 30 min. In this report, we establish methods for simple HPLC analysis and the inhibition of D-amygdalin conversion. D-Amygdalin and its conversion product, neoamygdalin, were clearly separated on reverse-phase column chromatography by an optimized eluent of 10mM sodium phosphate buffer (pH 3.8) containing 6% acetonitrile.   • The elution behaviors of stannous ion by PSA(phenol sulfonic acid) as an eluent on chelating resin, Amberlite IRC-718 have been investigated. When 0.10 M stannous solution was adsorbed on the resin and eluted with various concentrations of PSA, the two peaks of stannous ion were appeared in the elution curve. These two peak areas were changed according to the PSA concentration. Using these results, the stability constant of the complex formation between Sn2+ and PSA was calculated. This value is 2.0 ${\times}$ 10-1.

  • Many studies on the analysis of cations in blood have been reported. However, no suitable method for the pretreatment of blood for the determination of cations by Ion Chromotography. As a result, pretreatment method that the membrane filtration of plasma a diluted 1 to 100 fold acidified pH 3.5 was found to be the most suitable. The recoveris of monovalent cations in blood were yield 101%(Na$^{+}$). 102%(NH$^{+}_{4}$) and 101%(K$^{+}$) Determinations of divalent cations(Mg and Ca ions) in blood by Ion chromatography were summarized as followed conditions Separator Column : CS$_{3}$. Suppressor Column : CMMS. Eluent conen : 25m M-HCl/2mM-Histidine. Regenerant conen: 40mM-Ba(OH)$_{2}$.

  • Melampyrum roseum Max. is an annual herb in Scrophulariaceae plants. The materials were collected in Kyeongi-Do in 1980. The BuOH extract was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was column chromatographed over silica gel with benzene-MeOH (8 : 1) as an eluent and it gave the amorphus powder. Compound I has a molecular formula $C_{17}H_{26}O_{10}$ and it was identified as mussaenoside by chemical data, UV, IR, NMR spectra and compared with the authentic sample of mussaenoside tetraacetate.

  • The cation exchange chromatographic method for the analysis of Babbitt metal has been studied. The quantitative separation of the mixture of Sb, Cu, Pb, and Sn ions has been obtained by elution, through 5cm column of resin, Rexyn 101 (Na form, 100~200 mesh), using 0.1 M NaCl solution for Sb, pH 4.5 and pH 7 solution of 0.01 M Na-Citrate + 0.1 M $NaNO_3$ for Cu and Pb, and 2NHCl solution for Sn as eluent.

  • A coupled achiral-chiral high-performance liquid chromatographic system has been developed for the determination of the enantiomers of salmeterol, S-(+)-salmeterol and R-(-)-salmeterol in urine. THe salmeterol was separated from the interfering components in urine and quantified on the silica column, and the enantiomeric composition was determined on a Sumichiral OA-4700 chiral stationary phase. The two columns were connected by a switching valve equipped with a silica precolumn. The two columns wer connected by a switching valve equipped with a silica precolumn. The precolumn was used to concentrate the salmeterol in the eluent from the achiral column before backflushing onto the chiral phase. The coupled system was validated.
