학령기 아동의 일반적 특성에 따른 학교생활적응정도 예측요인 - 5개 초등학교를 중심으로 - (The Estimated Factors for School Adaptation on School Aged Children by General Characteristics - 5 Elementary Schools -)

  • Purpose: This study was to examine estimation variables and predicted probability for school-aged children's school adaptation. Methods: The subjects of this study consisted of 614 children. Data were analyzed by logistic regression using SPSS Windows 11.0. Results: 1. Girls adjusted themselves 1.65 times easier than boys, and 5th-and 6th-graders adjusted themselves slightly easier than 4th-graders. Children with monthly pocket money lower than 10,000 won adjust adjusted 2.92 times easier than those with a larger amount of pocket money, unhealthy children adjusted themselves 2.44 times easier than healthy ones, and children with low academic achievement adjusted themselves 2.68 times easier than those with high academic achievements. 2. As for family economic status, children who thought the economic condition of their family poor adjusted themselves 2.41 times easier than those who thought the economic condition of their family fine. As for conversation with people, children conversing with families and relatives adjusted themselves 2.69 times easier and those conversing with friends and others adjusted themselves 2.71 times easier than those conversing with none. Children from normal families adjusted themselves 3.44 times easier than those from deficiency families. 4. The overall prediction rate was 73.9%. Conclusions: It is concluded that nurses, teachers and parents are important in improving school-aged children's adaptation to school life.

아동화의 치수 적합성 향상을 위한 학령기 남아의 발 관련 치수 정보 분석 (Analysis of Elementary School Boy's Feet Measurements for Improvements in the Suitability of Children's Shoes)

  • For children with most outdoor activities, wearing appropriate shoes is important to their growth and health. The purpose of this study is to identify characteristics regarding children's feet and to provide beneficial information for an appropriate sizing system of children's shoes. The data of the study were 3D measurements of feet from school boys aged 7-12 of the 6th Anthropometry of Size Korea. This study revealed that the two factors related to the size and height of the feet represent the characteristics of children's feet, unlike adults. As a result of applying the data of this study to the current KS sizing system of the children's shoes, only the foot lengths were within the sizing system. Consequently, the current sizing system requires revisions and supplements to the foot-width and foot-circumference sections.

저소득가정 아동의 자아개념: 성별 비교를 중심으로 (A Study of the Self-Concept in Children of Low-Income Families : Focusing on the Comparison of Gender)

  • This research focuses on the self-concept in children of low-income families. A questionnaire was given to elementary school-aged children(grades 3-6). 454 children from low-income families were surveyed. The major findings were as follows: first, the variables that affected the self-concept among the low-income families children were relatively different. For boys, the major influential individual variables were in the following order: grade, stress, and the father's affective attitude. For girls, the major influential individual variables were in the following order: stress, support from friend, father's affective attitude, and grade. Second, through this comparison, this study examined the relative influence of variables that affected children's self-concept. This study proposes interventions to improve their self-concept mechanisms.

CASE 프로그램에 의한 초등학생들의 인지가속 효과 (Effects of a Cognitive Acceleration Program on Primary School Students)

  • 과학교과 내용이 요구하는 인지수준과 학생들의 인지수준이 맞지 않아 생기는 문제점을 극복하는 적극적인 대처 방안으로 학생들의 인지발달을 촉진시켜 과학교과 내용의 이해를 도모하기 위해 구안된CASE 프로그램의 효과를 조사했다. 초등학교 5학년(11세) 420명의 학생들이 연구에 참가하였으며, 같은 분량의 시간동안 실험반에서는 교육과정에 따른 과학교과 수업과 '생각하는 과학' 활동을 병행하였고, 통제반에서는 과학교과 수업만을 수행하였다. 연구 초기에 논리적 사고력 검사(SRT ll)를 이용하여 집단의 동질성을 비교하고, 2년 동안 실험반에 CASE 프로그램을 처치한 후 처치별, 성별, 인지수준별 인지가속 효과를 조사했다 2년간 지도한 결과 CASE 프로그램이 인지가속에 매우 효과적인 것(MS=16.883, F=10.360, p=.001; ES=0.40)으로 확인되었다. 특히 초기 1년 동안 인지가속에 매우 효과적인 것(MS=10.491, F=9.302, p=.002; ES=0.41)으로 나타났다 학생들의 성별에 따라 CASE 프로그램의 효과를 비교한 결과 남학생들 보다 여학생들이(ES 남:여=0.27:0.59) 좀 더 나은 효과를 보였다. 학생들의 사전 인지수준에 따른 CASE 프로그램의 효과를 분석한 결과, 전기 구체적 조작기(2A) 학생들은 중간검사에서 인지발달이 있는 것(ES=0.23)으로 나타났으며, 이러한 효과가 꾸준히 증가하여 사후검사에서는 인지발달이 아주 현저하게(ES=0.70) 나타났다 중기 구체적 조작기(2A/2B)와 후기 구체적 조작기(2B) 학생들에게서도 인지가속 효과가(ES=0.30,0.23) 나타났으나, 과도기(2B/3A)와 전조작기((2A) 학생들에게는 CASE 프로그램의 효과가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 학생들의 사후 인지수준이 형식적 조작기(3A 이상)로 상향 변화된 비율이 실험반(21.8%)이 통제반(8.6%)보다 2.5배나 높았다. 이와 같은 인지가속은 초기, 중기, 그리고 후기 구체적 조작기 학생들에게서 명백하게 나타났다. 우리나라 과학 교과내용이 요구하는 인지수준과 생들의 실제 인지수준과의 격차로 인해 생기는 과학교육의 문제점을 좀 더 적극적으로 대처하는데 CASE 프로그램과 관련된 여러 가지 자료가 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

초등학교 저학년 아동의 체온조절반응 -일본아동과 한국아동의 비교- (Thermo-physiological Responses of the Lower Grade Elementary School Children -A Comparison Between Japanese and Korean Children-)

  • 본 연구는 아동의 체온조절반응의 특징에 성장환경이 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 명확히 하기 위해, 한국아동(K group)과 일본아동(J group)의 체온조절반응을 검토하였다. 팬츠 착용의 피험자는 중립환경 $(28.5^{\circ}C)$에서 1시간, 추운환경$(22^{\circ}C)$ 또는 더운환경$(37^{\circ}C)$으로 옮겨져 1시간 동안의 체온조절반응이 검토되었다. 그 결과, 직장온은 환경온이 높아짐에 따라 약간 높아졌으며, K group의 직장온이 J group보다 약간 높았다. 추운환경에서의 손과 발의 피부온은 현저히 저하되었으며, J group보다 K group에서 더 현저히 나타났다. 그리고, 두 group의 절대 국소 증발량은 환경온 $22^{\circ}C$$28.5^{\circ}C$에서 비슷한 분포를 나타내는 반면, 환경온 $37^{\circ}C$에서는 J group은 몸 전체에서 발한을 나타냈으나 K group은 사지보다 몸통부위의 발한량이 많았다. 맥박은 환경온의 상승에 따라 높아졌으며, J group의 맥박이 K group보다 더 높았다.

학령 후기 아동의 또래관계 및 자아존중감이 주관적 안녕감에 영향을 미치는 경로 (Pathways from Peer Relationships to Subjective Well-Being through Self-Esteem in Late Childhood)

  • This study examined the various pathways from peer relationships to subjective well-being through self-esteem in late childhood. A total of 354 fifth and sixth grade students in elementary school (189 boys and 165 girls) participated in the study. Peer relationships were assessed using the peer rating scale, and self-esteem and subjective well-being were measured using the self-rating scales. The data were analyzed by means of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Children's peer relationships affected their subjective well-being directly, as well as indirectly through their self-esteem. Positive relations with peers enabled children to improve their subjective well-being. In addition, those children who possessed good relationships with peers were more likely to perceive themselves as worthy, which led to higher overall levels of happiness and satisfaction in their lives. The study emphasizes the crucial influence of self-esteem on school-aged children's subjective well-being.

초등학생의 비만도와 영양소섭취상태가 혈청 IGF-1과 Serotonin 농도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Obesity and Nutrient intake on Serum IGF-1 and Serotonin Levels in School Children)

  • To evaluate the role of obesity and nutrient intake on serum IGF-1 and serotonin levels in 80 elementary school children (aged 10. 8 yr, 47 boys, 33 girls), we investigated the anthropometric data and the nutrient intake by questionnaries including food daily record, and measured serum IGF-1 and serotonin using RIA and HPLC F-1050 respectively. We obtained the following results by obesity index (underweight-, normal-, obese group). The protein intake of normal group was higher than the others (p < 0.05). The underweight and obese groups had snacks more often than the normal group. The obese group preferred‘cookies’and‘fries’more than the other groups. The serum serotonin levels showed weak correlation with fat (r = 0.315, p < 0.01), fiber (${\gamma}$ = 0.280, p < 0.05) and energy intake (r = 0.242, p < 0.05), but no differences in anthropometric data by obesity index. The serum IGF-1 level was significantly correlated height (r = 0.649, p < 0.001), weight (r = 0.437, p < 0.001) and hip (r = 0.417, p < 0.001), but showed weak correlation with energy intake (r = 0.232, p < 0.05) and carbohydrate intake (r = 0.244, p < 0.05). In this study, we could see only partly correlation among the serum IGF-1 and serotonin and obesity and nutrient intake. Forker research is required into consideration of the essential role of these hormones during a growth period.

대구지역(大邱地域) 일부(一部) 국민학교(國民學校) 아동(兒童)의 비만도별(肥滿度別) 체지방(體脂肪) 비율(比率)과 혈청지질치(血淸脂質値) (Body Fat Percent and Serum Lipid Level of School Children by Obesity Index)

  • This study was conducted to identify the relationship between body fat percent/serum lipid level and obesity index among school children. The study subjects were 277 boys and 266 girls aged between 10 and 11 years old in a selected elementary school in Taegu City. The survey was conducted for the period of two months from May 1 to June 30, 1993. A $R{\ddot{o}}hrer$index(weight/height3) was calculated for each individual as a measure of obesity. Three groups were classified as underweight($R{\ddot{o}}hrer$ index < 109), normal($109{\leq}$ $R{\ddot{o}}hrer$ index < 140), and overweight ($R{\ddot{o}}hrer$ index ${\geq}140$). As for the body fat percent, fat weight, lean body mass were measured by impedance fat, meter(Model SIF-891). Serum total cholesterol. high-density lipoprotein, and triglyceride were measured by automated clinical chemistry analyzer(Astra system). Obesity was found 18.1% in boys and 14.7% in girls. Body weight, fat percent, fat weight, and lean body mass were significantly different among three groups classified by $R{\ddot{o}}hrer$ index in both sexes. Serum total cholesterol, triglyceride, atherogenic index and T-CHO/HDL ratio were also significantly different among three groups in both sexes. Serum total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, trigylceride, atherogenic index of boys were positively correlated with height, weight. $R{\ddot{o}}hrer$ index, fat weight, lean body mass, and triglyceride. The negative correlation was found in high-density lipoprotein against height, weight, Rohrer index, fat percent, fat weight, lean body mass. Triglyceride and atherogenic index of the girls were positively correlated with height, weight, $R{\ddot{o}}hrer$ index, fat percent, fat weight, lean body mass. The negative correlation was found in high-density lipoprotein against height, weight, $R{\ddot{o}}hrer$ index, fat percent, fat weight, lean body mass. These findings suggest that the prevention of obesity and hyperlipidemia among school children is very important. Thus adoption of healthy life-style is strongly recommended in school health programs in order to prevent the obesity and hyperlipidemia.

비만에 이환된 아동청소년에서 보이는 정신건강문제 (Mental Health Problems in Child and Adolescent Obesity)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate mental health problems in obese child and adolescent patients. We assess the frequency of mental health problems and their differences according to sex, school grade and severity of obesity. Methods: The sample consisted of 106 children and adolescents aged 8-16 years (61 boys with mean age $10.98{\pm}2.26$, 45 girls with mean age $9.74{\pm}1.96$, p=.004) who were diagnosed with obesity and recruited at the Department of Pediatrics of Jeju National University Hospital. The participants completed the Korean-Child Behavior Checklist (K-CBCL), Children's Depression Inventory (CDI), Korean version of the Eating Attitude Test-26 (KEAT-26), and somatotype drawings. Results: The percentage of participants having a T-score in clinical range on one or more CBCL subscale was 37.7%. The percentage of participants in the high risk group for depression (CDI score above 17) was 20.8% and that in the high risk group for eating disorder (EAT-26 score above 20) was 6%. The girls showed significantly lower CBCL T-scores in social competence ($48.39{\pm}15.66$ vs. $38.91{\pm}22.04$, p=.011), adjustment function ($49.51{\pm}17.35$ vs. $40.38{\pm}22.58$, p=.020) and school competence ($53.34{\pm}10.47$ vs. $48.22{\pm}15.11$, p=.042) than the boys, but the percentages of boys and girls in clinical range were not significantly different. The middle school students showed (significantly) higher CBCL T-scores in somatic symptoms ($60.86{\pm}9.44$ vs. $55.74{\pm}6.76$, p=.005), aggressive behavior ($58.81{\pm}6.74$ vs. $54.68{\pm}6.22$, p=.009), total problems ($59.86{\pm}9.91$ vs. $54.88{\pm}9.76$, p=.039) and externalizing problems ($57.90{\pm}10.57$ vs. $52.44{\pm}9.38$, p=.022) than the elementary school students. The severe obesity group showed significantly higher CBCL T-scores in attention problems ($59.18{\pm}9.45$ vs. $54.15{\pm}5.34$, p=.001), social problems ($59.25{\pm}8.59$ vs. $55.96{\pm}6.50$, p=.038), delinquent behavior ($58.07{\pm}6.97$ vs. $54.73{\pm}6.00$, p=.017) and total problems ($59.21{\pm}11.65$ vs. $54.67{\pm}9.03$, p=.037) than the mild to moderate obesity group. Conclusion: Significant proportions of obese children and adolescents suffer from mental health problems. Clinicians need to pay attention to the mental health risk, especially in obese adolescents and severely obese children and adolescents.

학동기 소아에서 반복성 복통과 우울 성향과의 관계 (The Relationship between Recurrent Abdominal Pain and Depressive Trends in School-Aged Children)

  • 정도에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 증상으로, 정확한 원인을 발견할 수 없는 경우가 많다. 또한 반복성 복통이 학동기 아동에 있어 사회적, 정신적 발달에 장애를 초래할 수 있다. 이에 저자들은 반복성 복통과 정서적인 문제중 하나인 우울성향과의 연관성을 알아보고자 본 연구를 시행하였다. 방 법: 광주시내 2개 초등학교 4, 5, 6학년 학생 1,181명, 남아 566명, 여아 615명을 대상으로 반복성 복통의 유형을 평가하였으며, 우울의 정도는 한국판 Kovacs & Beck의 Children's Depression Inventory (CDI) 설문지를 이용하여 비교 분석하였다. 결 과: 1) 반복성 복통의 빈도는 총 265명(22.4%)이며 남아 107명(18.9%), 여아 158명(25.7%)으로 여아에서 의미 있게 높았고,연령별로 9세 19.8%, 10세 21.2%, 11세 26.1%, 12세 19.1%였다. 2) 반복성 복통군에서 평균 우울점수가 대조군에서 높았다. 3) 반복성 복통군에서 복통이 자주 있을수록, 다른 증상을 동반한 경우 우울점수가 유의하게 높았다. 4) 복통은 배꼽주위가 가장 많았고, 복통 양상이 쥐어 짜는 듯한, 화끈거리는 통증이 있는 경우에 우울점수가 의의 있게 높았다. 5) 반복성 복통군에서 아이의 성격이 혼자 놀기를 좋아하거나, 학교가기를 싫어하거나, 친구가 적은 경우의 우울점수가 성격이 활발하거나, 친구가 많거나, 꼼꼼한 경우보다 의미 있게 높았다. 6) 반복성 복통군에서 복통의 지속시간, 하루 중 복통의 발현시기 및 요일 사이에는 유의한 차이는 없었다. 결 론: 초등학교 아동에서 반복성 복통은 높은 유병율을 보이며, 우울점수가 대조군보다 높아 우울증과 연관성이 있음을 시사하였다 그러므로 학동기의 반복성 복통의 적절한 진단과 신속한 치료가 필요하며 치료시 정서적, 심리적 지지요법을 고려하는 것이 좋을 것으로 생각된다.
