Development and Application of Robot Task using Tangible Programming Tool for Elementary Students (텐지블 프로그래밍 도구를 활용한 논리적 사고력기반의 초등 로봇 과제 개발 및 적용)

  • Recently, programming education is being actively performed in education field with development of educational programming language and teaching and learning methods for elementary students. However, programming education have limit to apply to the overall computer science curriculum, because it is performed by more than 5th grade and focused on the utilization of programming tools than problem-solving process. It is necessary to expand the range of students and educational content considered with problem-solving process for encouraging programming education in computer science. In this study, we suggest the easy-to-use programming tool for lower grade(1st grade) and robot programming task based on improvement of student's thinking ability. We use Tangible User Interface(TUI) for elementary student's(1st grade) convenience of programming and developed the robot programming task for improvement of logical thinking. As a result of this experiment, tangible programming tool can be used easily in elementary students(1st grade) and developed robot programming task is effective in improvement of logical thinking.

Analysis of Error Types occurring on Elementary School Student's Programming Learning (초등학생들이 프로그래밍 학습 시 발생하는 오류유형 분석)

  • Higher grade elementary school students who have superior cognitive abilities need education of basic principles of computer or programming rather than computer in education. In this study, all the errors occurring while elementary school students wrote and executed programs were collected. in the method of predicting and dealing with possible-to-occur problems on programming education of the higher grades (4th, 5th and 6th grades) during their optional special activities or during talent aptitude activities after school, classified by type and analyzed. If the errors analyzed are put to practical use, optimal programming curriculums could be written and such curriculums could be a great contribution to induction of learning effect and interest on teaching learning. It was found by analyzing the errors collected for this study that the most of elementary school students during programming felt difficulties in simple errors by poor use of software and in simple coding by poor use of reserved words in English. In the next, students occurred errors by difficulties in understanding grammar. It was exposed that these error types were the opposite phenomena to those analyzed by commercial software developing companies, however, it is predicted that if teaching learning is setting improved, the same phenomena could be found desirably.

Analysis on Fitness of Contents Selected for Data Structure Education in Elementary School Curriculum (초등교육과정에서 자료구조 교육을 위한 내용 선정의 적합성 조사 분석)

  • This study conducted a comparative analysis on domestic and foreign computer science curriculum, in order to introduce the data structure education as a core foundation of computer science. The findings show that the scope and level of data structure contents included in elementary school software education are poorer than those in U.S.A and England. To resolve such a problem, it selected some data structure education factors and a Delphi survey about the importance of contents and the fitness of education periods were administered to experts. Although they responded that 'text information', 'array', 'stack' and 'queue' for linear structures', and 'tree' for non-linear structures are important, their opinions were different in education periods by its factors. The generalization of the findings may be limited, given that the analysis was based on the survey of some experts, but this study has an implication, in that it provides important information for improving elementary school software curriculum for the introduction of data structures.

  • Since learner-centered, participatory, real-situation education is stressed today, we need a new creative method for teaching computers to elementary school students. Nevertheless, there is scant research in this area. Therefore, in my study, I have analyzed the state of the methods of teaching computer literacy in the elementary schools. My aim is to develop a method of computer teaching in the real situation of elementary schools which will greatly improve the learning process. Creative teaching method gives students the initiation. And lead for then to join the activities for using the student's reciprocity. It is the students centered method. As a result of this study offering the educational teaching method of the creative teaching method for the improvement of computer literacy and learning attitude in the school society which has no knowledge brings the practical effects of computer attainments. Some limitation of the subject and theme of this investigation. Then requires the continual study for the of development creative teaching method with the extension experimental groups and educational subjects.

VDT Syndrome according to the Types of Computer Use Among Elementary Students (초등학생의 컴퓨터 사용행태에 따른 VDT증후군)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for prevention of VDT syndrome by confirming VDT syndrome according to the type of computer use. The subjects recruited for the research were 518 students who were in the 4, 5, 6 grades from 5 schools in Seoul. The data were collected during the period from October 8 through October 18, 2004. The results were as follows; 1. The mean value of the VDT syndrome was 1.55 (SD=.52) for the 5th graders. 2. The degrees of VDT syndrome according to the characteristics of the subjects shows higher scores for the 5th and 6th graders, boys, students with more than 4 online friends, students with a low degree of school life satisfaction, and for students with parents who had a negative attitude for their children. 3. The degree of VDT syndrome according to the type of computer use showed higher scores when the students used computers for game more than for study, more than 11 hours in a week, more than 2 hours at one time, not having any rest, in dark places, with the monitor less than 40 an distance from the eyes, sitting with their legs crossed and when the keyboard was in a higher position than their elbows. The internet absorbed group showed higher scores than the unabsorbed group. 4. There was positive correlation between the hours of computer use and VDT syndrome. Also, internet addiction and VDT syndrome had positive correlation. Therefore, each home and society needs to pay consistent attention to correct computer use by their students. Especially, schools will have to educate about computer utilization and VDT syndrome.

  • 본 논문에서는 2015 개정 교육과정에서 강조하고 있는 SW 교육의 교육용 프로그래밍 언어(EPL)에 대한 현직 초등 교사들의 실태와 요구를 분석하였다. 현직 초등 교사들이 대부분 이수한 교대의 교육과정에는 교육용 프로그래밍 언어 교육에 관한 내용은 대다수 없는 것으로 파악되었다. 또한 현장에서 실시되고 있는 교육용 프로그래밍 언어에 관한 연수는 양적으로도 연수의 수가 부족할 뿐만 아니라 질적으로도 개선이 필요한 것으로 분석되었다. 교육용 프로그래밍 언어에 대한 현직 교사의 사례들에서도 교육용 프로그래밍 언어에 대한 교사교육에 관한 다양한 요구가 분석되었다. 이를 통하여 교육용 프로그래밍 언어에 대한 초등 교사교육의 필요성과 방향에 대하여 제언하였다.

A study of computer aided teaching for statistics (통계학 교육용 한극 소프트웨어 개발 연구)

  • A software, the CATS (Computer Aided Teaching for Statistics), which is specially designed for teaching elementary statistics using the personal computer is developed. This software helps the novice to understand the complicated statistical theories, for example the central limit theorem, which are not easy to teach in classroom. The software is also designed for practicing the elementary statistical techniques using the small amount of data as the other statistical packages.

A Study on Correlation Analysis between Emotional Intelligence and Programming Ability

  • Programming ability becomes an essential ability for elementary and secondary school students as well as computer science major students in modern information society. Thus, improving programming ability has long been a research project for computer scientists and teachers in IT areas. There have been many research works for improving programming ability in various ways. At first glance, emotional intelligence is generally known as humanistic intelligence, and nothing to do with computer areas. In the recent works, emotional intelligence has a correlation with various subjects. The purpose of this paper is to analyze correlation between emotional intelligence and programing ability. For this purpose, extensive survey works are carried out and statistical results are analyzed. Based on statistical analysis, it is concluded that there is a correlation between emotional intelligence and programming ability.

  • 이 연구는 초등 교사를 대상으로 한 효율적인 연수 프로그램 구성의 출발점 자료를 확보하고자, 초등 교사 200명을 대상으로 SW 교육 영역(SW 문화, SW 창의, SW활용)의 소양 정도를 파악하고 영역 간의 관계를 분석하였다. 연구의 결과, SW 문화소양의 충족, 특히 SW 윤리 소양의 충족이 SW 창의교육 영역(컴퓨팅 사고력과 SW 제작 소양)에 큰 기여를 하는 것으로 확인되었다. 따라서 SW 교사 연수 효율성 제고를 위해 SW 윤리 영역이 컴퓨팅 사고력 영역 및 SW 제작 영역에 관한 교육 내용과 연계성 있는 배치와 시간 운영이 필요하겠다.

  • 2015개정 교육과정은 소프트웨어 교육을 강조하고 있으며, 초등에서도 정보 교육이 실시될 예정이다. 이에 따라 초등 교사의 정보 교수 역량 정도를 살펴보거나 연수 후 연수 효과를 살펴보기 위한 검사도구가 필요한 시점이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기 개발된 초등교사의 정보 교수 역량을 측정할 수 있는 정보 교수효능감 검사도구 개정의 네 가지 방향성을 제시하였다.
