Efficient Ultrasound Enhance Novel Series of 2-((E)-2,3-Dihydro-2-(4-(phenylthio)phenyl)benzo[b][1,4]thiazepin-4-yl)phenol as an Antimicrobial Agent

  • An efficient synthesis of 1,5-Benzothiazepines via Michael addition of corresponding (E)-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-3-(4-(phenylthio)phenyl)prop-2-en-1-one is described under ultrasound irradiation. A series of novel 2-((E)-2,3-dihydro-2-(4-(phenylthio)phenyl)benzo[b][1,4]thiazepin-4-yl)phenol derivatives was confirmed on the basis of $^1H$ NMR, Mass, IR spectral data and Elemental analysis. The synthesized compounds were evaluated for their antimicrobial activities. Most of the compounds were found to be comparable potent than the reference standard drugs. Utilization of ultrasound irradiation, simple reaction conditions, isolation, and purification makes this manipulation very interesting from an economic and environmental perspective.

  • Cr(III) and Co(III) complexes with acetylacetonate were anchored onto a mesoporous MCM-41 through Schiff condensation. The materials were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, BET, CHN and ICP techniques. Elemental analysis of samples revealed that one C=N bond was formed through Schiff condensation on MCM-41 surface. The catalysts were tested for the alcohol oxidations using t-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) and $H_2O_2$ as oxidant. The catalytic experiments were carried out at both room temperature and reflux condition. Various solvents such as dichloromethane, acetonitrile and water were examined in the oxidation of alcohols. Among the different solvents, catalytic activity is found more in acetonitrile. Further, the catalysts were recycled three times in the oxidation of alcohols and no major change in the conversion and selectivity is observed, which shows that the immobilized metal-acetylacetonate complexes are stable under the present reaction conditions.

  • Strobilurins are one of the most important classes of agricultural fungicides. To discover new strobilurin derivatives with high activity against resistant pathogens, a series of novel ${\beta}$-methoxyacrylate analogues were designed and synthesized by integrating substituted pyrimidine with a strobilurin pharmacophore. The compounds were confirmed and characterized by infrared, $^1H$ nuclear magnetic resonance, elemental analysis and mass spectroscopy. The bioassays indicated that most of the compounds (1a-1h) exhibited potent antifungal activities against Colletotrichum orbiculare, Botrytis cinerea Pers and Phytophthora capsici Leonian at the concentration of 50 ${\mu}g/mL$. Exhilaratingly, compound 1d (R=3-trifluoromethylphenyl) showed better antifungal activity against all the tested fungi than the commercial strobilurin fungicide azoxystrobin.

  • A simple and efficient synthesis of various $\alpha$-aminophosphonates (3a-l) by the reaction of substituted aromatic/heterocyclic aldehydes, 2-amino-6-methoxy-benzothiazole and dibutyl/diphenyl phosphites under microwave irradiation without catalyst was accomplished. The phosphonates were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, $^1H$, $^{13}C$- and $^{31}PNMR$ spectra. They showed promising antimicrobial, anti-oxidant activities depending on the nature of bioactive groups at the $\alpha$-carbon.

  • Two new polymeric complexes, [Zn(dpa)(pyz)0.5]n (1; dpa = diphenate and pyz = pyrazine) and [Mn3(bpdc)3(py)4]n (2; bpdc = biphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylate and py = pyridine) were successfully isolated by the hydro- and solvo-thermal technique, respectively. The complexes were characterized by elemental and thermal analysis, vibrational IR spectroscopy, and by single crystal x-ray structure determination. For 2, magnetic property was also investigated. Complex 1 is a two-dimensional layer structure consisting of a paddle-wheel building unit of Zn-dpa chains bridged by pyrazine. While, complex 2 consists of linear trimeric Mn3 cluster as building unit to form 3D network. In the complexes, dpa2− (1) and bpdc2−(2) ligands show a typical bis-monodendate bridging and two kinds of bridging modes; a typical bridging and chelating/bridging mode, respectively.

  • Octahedral Co(Ⅲ) complexes of the glycine methyl ester have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared, and NMR spectrum. Co(Ⅲ) glycine methyl ester complex has been isolated from the reaction of glycine and glycine methyl ester in aqueous solution by cation exchange resin, Dowex 50W-X8 (hydrogen form). It has been observed that the complexes have $C_1-cis(0-0), C_2-cis(0-0), trans(0-0)$ geometry.

Dyeing Performance of Disperse Dyes Based on 2-aminothiazole for Cellulose Triacetate and Nylon Fibers

  • A series of monoazo disperse dyes based on 2-amino-4-phenylthiazole was prepared using various N,N-dialkvlaniline derivatives as the coupling component. The dyes were characterized by IR spectral studies, visible absorption spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The dyeing performance of these dyes was assessed on cellulose triacetate and nylon fibers. These dyes were found to give a wide range of colour shades varying from bright red to royal blue with very good depth, brightness and levelness on fibers. The dyed fibers showed good to very good light fastness and very good to excellent fastness to washing, perspiration, rubbing and sublimation. The dyebath exhaustion and fixation on the fibers were found to be very good.

  • Dithiocarbamates containing polar groups which give very water soluble metal complexes were prepared from the reaction of carbon disulfide with diamines. The compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, and spectroscopic results. Dithiocarbamate and its complex were soluble in water. N, N-Dimethylammoniumpropylenedithiocarbamate(A) is clearly effective as inhibition of cis-platinum nephrotoxicity in rats. From the result of A rescue after cis-dichlorodiammineplatinum(II) treatment, it is suggested that dithiocarbamate removes platinum(II) coordinated to -SH groups bound to protein of kidney tubule cells by the reaction of platinum(II) with dithiocarbamate injected. A is effective as antidots for acute cadmium poisoning in Bacillus subtills. Growth of Bacillus subtills may be accelerated by A ligand dissociated from cadmium (II)-A complex.

  • 5.7-Dibromo-8-hydroxyquinolinyl-N-ethylcarbamate, one of the carbamate derivative which are generally used as insecticide, was newly synthesized. Its physical properities were determined and chemical structure was identified by means of I.R., nmr in addition to elemental analysis. The yield of addition, using triethylamine as catalyst, 5.7-dibromo-8-hydroxyquinoline and isocyanate was better than that of condensation of 5.7-dibromo-8-hydroxyquinoline with carbamoylchloride. The present organic synthesized compound showed the bacteriostatic action on salmonella typhi, escherichia coli and pseudomonas aeruginosa, but no otherwise effect of contraction of rabbit's ileum in the concentration of $100 \mu g/ml$.

  • White needle crystalline compound, mp.\;78{\sim}79$, was isolated from the petroleum ether fraction of the aerial parts of Chenopodium acuminatum. This compound was supposed to be cycloalkane by chemical properties, spectral data and elemental analysis. After extraction with petroleum ether, the methanolic extract of this plant found to contain aspartic acid, threonine, serine, glutamic acid, glycine, cystine, valine, isoleucine, tyrosine, and phenylalanine. Inorganic elements contained in this plant are as following: Mg 4.84%, Ca 9.602%, Zn 1.11%, K 29.104%, Mn 5.124%, Fe 27.039%, Co 0.31%, Pb 0.995%, Na 0.039% and Cu, 0.0076%.
