Although pretty methods have been proposed to reduce torque ripple, they generally suffer from the decreased torque density. This paper will investigate the spoke-type interior permanent magnet (IPM) machine with shaping methods, including the sinusoidal (SIN), the inverse cosine (ICS), the sinusoidal with third harmonic (SIN+3rd), and the inverse cosine with third harmonic (ICS+3rd). In order to obtain low torque ripple and high torque density, the shaping method applied in rotor and stator at the same time, termed as the dual-shaping method, is proposed. This method is analytically derived and further confirmed by finite element method (FEM). It turns out that the ICS and ICS+3rd shaping methods are more suitable for outer rotors, while the SIN and the SIN+3rd shaping method should be used in inner stators. The original machine, the singular shaped machines and the dual-shaped machines on electromagnetic performances are compared for evaluation. The results verify that the dual-shaping method can improve torque density, whilst reducing torque ripple.

About the orthogonal Hadamard matrix announced by Hadamard in France in 1893, Professor Moon Ho Lee newly defined it as Center Weight Hadamard in 1989 and announced it, and discovered the Jacket matrix in 1998. The Jacket matrix is a generalization of the Hadamard matrix. In this paper, we propose a method of obtaining the Symmetric Jacket matrix, analyzing important properties and patterns, and obtaining the Jacket matrix's determinant and Eigenvalue, and proved it using Eigen decomposition. These calculations are useful for signal processing and orthogonal code design. To analyze the matrix system, compare it with DFT, DCT, Hadamard, and Jacket matrix. In the symmetric matrix of Galois Field, the element-wise inverse relationship of the Jacket matrix was mathematically proved and the orthogonal property AB=I relationship was derived.
It is very difficult to form a desired complex sound field at a designated region precisely as an application of acoustic arrays, which is one of important objects of array systems. To solve the problem, a filter design method was suggested, which employed the concept of an inverse method using the acoustical holography based on the boundary element method. In the acoustical holography used for the source identification, the measured field data are employed to reconstruct the vibro-acoustic parameters on the source surface. In the analogous problem of source array design, the desired field data at some specific points in the sound field was set as constraints and the volume velocity at the surface points of the source plane became the source signal to satisfy the desired sound field. In the filter design, the constraints for the desired sound field are set, first. The array source and given space are modelled by the boundary elements. Then, the desired source parameters are inversely calculated in a way similar to the holographic source identification method. As a test example, a target field comprised of a quiet region and a plane wave propagation region was simultaneously realized by using the array with 16 loudspeakers.
In this study, the performance of a thermo siphon type radiator made of copper for LED lighting system was evaluated by using an inverse heat transfer method. Heating experiments and finite element heat transfer analysis were conducted for three different cases. The data obtained from experiments were compared with the analysis results. Based on the data obtained from experiments, the inverse heat transfer method was used in order to evaluate the heat transfer coefficient. First, the heat transfer analysis was conducted for non-vacuum state, without the refrigerant. The evaluated heat transfer coefficient on the radiator surface was 40W/$m^2^{\circ}C$. Second, the heat transfer analysis was conducted for non-vacuum state, with the refrigerant, resulting in the heat transfer coefficient of 95W/$m^2^{\circ}C$. Third, the heat transfer analysis was conducted for vacuum state, with refrigerant. For the third case, the evaluated heat transfer coefficients were 140W/$m^2^{\circ}C$. Third, the heat transfer analysis was conducted for vacuum state, with refrigerant. For the third case, the evaluated heat transfer coefficients were 140W/$m^2^{\circ}C$ for the radiator body, 5W/$m^2^{\circ}C$. Third, the heat transfer analysis was conducted for vacuum state, with refrigerant for the rising position of radiator pipe, 35W/$m^2^{\circ}C$. Third, the heat transfer analysis was conducted for vacuum state, with refrigerant. For the highest position of radiator pipe, and 120W/$m^2^{\circ}C$ for the downturn position of radiator pipe. As a result of inverse heat transfer analysis, it was confirmed that the thermal performance of the current radiator was best in the case of the vacuum state using the refrigerant.
In this paper, crack detection method using eigen value analysis is presented. Three methods are used: theoretical analysis, finite element method with the cracked beam elements and finite element method with three dimensional continuum elements. Finite element formulation of the cracked beam element is introduced. Additional term about stress intensity factor based on fracture mechanics theory is added to flexibility matrix of original beam to model the crack. As using calculated stiffness matrix of cracked beam element and mass matrix, natural frequencies are calculated by eigen value analysis. In the case of using continuum elements, the natural frequencies could be calculated by using EDISON CASAD solver. Several cases of crack are simulated to obtain natural frequencies corresponding the crack. The surface of natural frequency is plotted as changing with crack location and depth. Inverse analysis method is used to find crack location and depth from the natural frequencies of experimental data, which are referred by another papers. Predicted results are similar with the true crack location and depth.

It is well known that a crack has an important effect on the dynamic behavior of a structure. This effect depends mainly on the location and depth of the crack. To identify the location and depth of a crack in a structure, a classical optimization technique was adopted by previous researchers. That technique overcame the difficulty of finding the intersection point of the superposed contours that correspond to the eigenfrequency caused by the crack presence. However, it is hard to select a trial solution initially for optimization because the defined objective function is heavily multimodal. A method is presented in this paper, which uses continuous evolutionary algorithms(CEAs). CEAs are effective for solving inverse problems and implemented on PC clusters to shorten calculation time. With finite element model of the structure to calculate eigenfrequencies, it is possible to formulate the inverse problem in optimization format. CEAs are used to identify the crack location and depth minimizing the difference from the measured frequencies. We have tried this new idea on a simple beam structure and the results are promising with high parallel efficiency over about 94%.
Let consider the following problem: find an element u(t) in a Banach space U from the equation $$ x'(t) = Ax(t) + f(t,x(t)) + \Phi_0 u(t), 0 \leq t \leq T $$ with initial and terminal conditions $$ x(0) = 0, x(T) = \phi $$ in a Banach space X where $\phi \in D(A)$. This problem is a kind of control engineering inverse problem and contains nonlinear term, so that it is difficult and interesting. Thee proof main result in this paper is based on the Fredholm property of [1] in section 3. Similar considerations of linear system have been dealt with in many references. Among these literatures, Suzuki[5] introduced this problem for heat equation with unknown spatially-varing conductivity. Nakagiri and Yamamoto[2] considered the identifiability problem, which A is a unknown operator to be identified, where the system is described by a linear retarded functional differential equation. We can also apply to determining the magnitude of the control set for approximate controllability if X is a reflexive space, i.e., we can consider whether a dense subset of X is covered by reachable set in section 4.

In electrical impedance tomography(EIT), various image reconstruction algorithms have been used in order to compute the internal resistivity distribution of the unknown object with its electric potential data at the boundary. Mathematically the EIT image reconstruction algorithm is a nonlinear ill-posed inverse problem. This paper presents a new combined method based on genetic algorithm(GA) and modified Newton-Raphson(mNR) algorithm via two-step approach for the solution of the static EIT inverse problem. In the first step, each mesh is classified into three mesh groups: target, background, and temporary groups. The mNR algorithm can be used to determine the region of group. In the second step, the values of these resistivities are determined using genetic algorithm. Computer simulations with the 32 channels synthetic data show that the spatial resolution of reconstructed images by the proposed scheme is improved compared to that of the mNR algorithm at the expense of increased computational burden.

Most of mechanical structures are composed of many substructures connected to one another by various types of mechanical joints. In automotive engineering, it is important to study these connected structures under various dynamic forces for the evaluations of fatigue life and stress concentration exactly. In this study, the dynamic response of vehicle structure to external forces is classified an inverse problem involving strains from the experiment and the analysis. The practical dynamic forces are determined by the combination of the analytical and experimental method with analyzed strain by quasi-static finite element analysis under unit force and with measured strain by a strain gage under driving load, respectively. In a stressed body, inter-molecular chemical bonds are failed beyond the certain magnitude. The failure of molecular structure in material is considered as a time process of which rate is determined by mechanical stress. That is, the failure of inter-molecular chemical bonds is the fatigue lift of material. This kinetic concept is expressed as lethargy coefficient. And S-N curve is obtained with the lethargy coefficient from quasi-static tensile test. Equivalent practical dynamic force is obtained from the identification of practical dynamic force for one loading point. Using the practical dynamic force and S-N curve, fatigue life of a window pillar is analyzed with FEM under the identified force by the procedure of above mentioned.

Foundation of a building is damaged under service loads during construction. First visit shows that the foundation has been punched at the 6 column's foot region led to building rotation. Foundation shear punching occurring has made some stresses and deflections in construction. In this study, progressing of damage caused by foundation shear punching and inverse loading in order to resolve the building rotation has been evaluated in the foundation and frame of building by finite element modeling in ABAQUS software. The stress values of bars in punched regions of foundation has been deeply exceeded from steel yielding strength and experienced large displacement based on software's results. On the other hand, the values of created stresses in the frame are not too big to make serious damage. In the beams and columns of ground floor, some partial cracks has been occurred and in other floors, the values of stresses are in the elastic zone of materials. Finally, by inverse loading to the frame, the horizontal displacement of floors has been resolved and the values of stresses in frame has been significantly reduced.
