  • The skin color of a human being is the important memory color influencing image quality for color display. Therefore, in this paper, the preferred skin color axis is defined on HSV color space by analyzing some previous research, and the preferred skin color reproduction algorithm is performed by rotating the center axis of skin distribution of an input image to the preferred skin color axis.

  • Electronic skin (or E-skin) is an artificial smart skin composed of one or more than two sensors. E-skins detect external stimuli and convert them into electrical signals. Various types of E-skin sensors exist, including mechanical, physical, and chemical, depending on the detection signals involved. For wearable E-skins with superior sensitivity and reliability, developing conductors that possess both good elasticity and sensitivity is essential. Typical electrical conductors used in these sensors show very high sensitivity, but they have drawbacks such as non-linearity, irreversibility, and a narrow sensing range. To address these issues, stretchable and lightweight ionic conductors have been actively used in E-skin applications. This study summarizes the recent progress on various types of ionic conductors and ionic-conductor-based E-skin sensors.

  • High adhesion and water resistance of the skin surface are required for wearable and skin-attachable electronic patches in various medical applications. In this study, we report a stretchable electronic patch that mimics the drainable structure pattern of the hexagonal channels of frog's pads and the sucker of an octopus based on carbon-based conductive polymer composite materials. The hexagonal channel structure that mimics the pads of frogs drains water and improves adhesion through crack arresting effect, and the suction structure that mimics an octopus sucker shows high adhesion on wet surfaces. In addition, the high-adhesive electronic patch has excellent adhesion to various surfaces such as silicone wafer (max. 4.06 N/cm2) and skin replica surface (max. 1.84 N/cm2) in dry and wet conditions. The high skin-adhesive electronic patch made of a polymer composite material based on a polymer matrix and carbon particles can reliably detect electrocardiogram (ECG) in dry and humid environments. The proposed electronic patch presents potential applications for wearable and skin-attachable electronic devices for detecting various biosignals.

  • Skin detection research is important role in the 3G of mobile phone for video telephony and security system by using face recognition. We propose skin detection algorithm as preprocessing to the face recognition, and use YCbCr color space. In existing skin detection algorithm using CbCr, skin colors that is brightened by camera flash or sunlight at outdoor in images doesn't acknowledged the skin region. In order to detect skin region accuracy into any circumstance, this paper proposes 3-channel skin detection algorithm.

  • A face detection in color images is important for many multimedia applications. It is first step for face recognition and can be used for classifying specific shorts. This paper describes a new method to detect faces in color images based on the skin color and hair color. This paper presents a fuzzy-based method for classifying skin color region in a complex background under varying illumination. The Fuzzy rule bases of the fuzzy system are generated using training method like a genetic algorithm(GA). We find the skin color region and hair color region using the fuzzy system and apply the convex-hull to each region and find the face from their intersection relationship. To validity the effectiveness of the proposed method, we make experiment with various cases.

  • A skin tissue system is considered, whose configuration is electrically modelled by a layer over the infinite half space. The problem is to estimate the layer\`s thickness and respective conductivity from the measured impedance between the electrodes placed on the skin surface. A simulation is taken place as the optimization problem which is to minimize the norm between the \"measured\" and the solution for the assumed parameters.arameters.

  • This paper proposes a new sensor circuit using a 32 nm carbon nanotube FET (CNFET) technology for artificial skin. For future robotic and prosthetic applications, it is essential to develop a robust and low power artificial skin for detecting the environment through touch. Therefore, a sensor circuit for the artificial skin also has to be developed to detect the sensor signals and convert them into digital bits. The artificial skin sensor is based on a mesh of sensors consisting of a nxn matrix using CNFET, and the sensor outputs are connected to a current monitoring circuit proposed as the sensor circuit. The proposed sensor provides pressure measurements and shape information about pressure distribution.

  • In conventional, skin detection methods using for skin color definitions is based on prior knowledge. By experimentation, the threshold value for dividing the background from the skin region is determined subjectively. A drawback of such techniques is that their performance is dependent on a threshold value which is estimated from repeated experiments. To overcome this, the present paper introduces a skin region detection method. This method uses a histogram approximation based on the mean shift algorithm. This proposed method applies the mean shift procedure to a histogram of a skin map of the input image. It is generated by comparing with the standard skin colors in the $C_bC_r$ color space. It divides the background from the skin region by selecting the maximum value according to the brightness level. As the histogram has the form of a discontinuous function. It is accumulated according to the brightness values of the pixels. It is then, approximated by a Gaussian mixture model (GMM) using the Bezier curve technique. Thus, the proposed method detects the skin region using the mean shift procedure to determine a maximum value. Rather than using a manually selected threshold value, as in existing techniques this becomes the dividing point. Experiments confirm that the new procedure effectively detects the skin region.

  • Skin color is a very important information for an automatic face recognition. In this paper, we proposed a skin region extraction method using color information and skin color model. We use the adaptive lighting compensation technique for improved performance of skin region extraction. Also, using an preprocessing filter, normally large areas of easily distinct non skin pixels, are eliminated from further processing. And we use the modified ST color space, where undesired effects are reduced and the skin color distribution fits better than others color space. Experimental results show that the proposed method has better performance than the conventional methods, and reduces processing time by $35{\sim}40%$ on average.

  • In this paper, we describe a millimeter-wave radiation system developed for stimulating acupuncture points, and an analyzing system developed for monitoring the change of physiological signals after the stimulation such as ECG, skin temperature, skin potential and skin resistance. The systems are to be used to investigate the treatment efficacy and biological effects of the millimeter-wave, and eventually, can be used to study the acupuncture meridian system theory in the traditional Korean medicine.
