The purposes of this study are to compare and analyze the evaluation indicators for selection of journal suggested by scholars and organizations and to prepare theoretical background for the ideal model to meet opposing paradigms of collection management in academic libraries. A web survey method was employed to investigate applications of various selection criteria (27 for printed and 37 for electronic academic Journal) from the top 40 academic libraries in Korea. In addition, data were analysed statistically using factor analysis, t-test, Analysis of Variance(ANOVA), and Spearman's Rank Oder Correlation. The mean ranking for 9 evaluation indicators for printed were as follows: subscribing volumes per departments, degree of use, selection authority, electronic/print bundle, ISI impact factor, Internationality and reputation, costs for subscription, ILL ＆ DDS, space considerations for printed materials. But, 11 evaluation indicators for electronic were as follows : costs for subscription, accessibility, electronic/print bundle, consortia, selection authority, access expandability, subscribing volumes per departments, scholarly features of the university, ISI impact factor, ILL ＆ DDS, internationality and reputations.

The aim of this study is to collect and analyze clinical studies on acupuncture therapies of Post-stroke depression, and to suggest a method on study about acupuncture therapies. In this thesis, electronic searches were performed. Also, 6 major journals associated with oriental medicine in Korea were searched manually. Through searching, 27 studies were selected and analyzed. There were 24 controlled studies and 3 non-controlled studies. Treatment methods were acupuncture, electronic-acupuncture, eye-acupuncture, abdominal-acupuncture and pharmaco-puncture. The percentages of these treatment method were 59.2%, 29.6%, 3.7%, 3.7% and 3.7%, respectively. Acupuncture points such as GV20, PC6, ST36, SP6, LV3, GV24, GV26, LI14, LI11, H7, ST40, GB20, GB34 and LI15 were used. In comparison of results before and after acupuncture treatment, there were statistically significant improvement in 26 studies. Based on the results from above, the studies on acupuncture for Post-stroke depression needs to be standardized and more appropriate high-quality study models should be introduced.

Rising publication costs and declining financial resources have resulted in renewed interest among librarians in resource sharing. Although the idea of sharing resources is not new, there is a sense of urgency not seen in the past. Driven by rising publication costs and static and often shrinking budgets, librarians are embracing resource sharing as an idea whose time may finally have come. Resource sharing in electronic environments is creating a shift in the concept of the library as a warehouse of print-based collection to the idea of the library as the point of access to need information. Much of the library's material will be delivered in electronic form, or printed. In this new paradigm libraries can not be expected to su n.0, pport research from their own collections. These changes, along with improved communications, computerization of administrative functions, fax and digital delivery of articles, advancement of data storage technologies, are improving the procedures and means for delivering needed information to library users. In short, for resource sharing to be truly effective and efficient, however, automation and data communication are essential. The possibility of using full-text online databases as a su n.0, pplement to interlibrary loan for document delivery is examined. At this point, this article presents possibility of using full-text online databases as a means to interlibrary loan for document delivery. The findings of the study can be summarized as follows : First, turn-around time and the cost of getting a hard copy of a journal article from online full-text databases was comparable to the other document delivery services. Second, the use of full-text online databases should be considered as a method for promoting interlibrary loan services, as it is more cost-effective and labour saving. Third, for full-text databases to work as a document delivery system the databases must contain as many periodicals as possible and be loaded on as many systems as possible. Forth, to contain many scholarly research journals on full-text databases, we need guidelines to cover electronic document delivery, electronic reserves. Fifth, to be a full full-text database, more advanced information technologies are really needed.

Recently Usage statistics are widely available from online content providers. However. the statistics are not yet available in a consistent data container and the administrative cost of individual provider-by-provider downloads is high. The Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI) is developing an automated request and response protocol for moving Project COUNTER (Counting Online Usage of Networked Electronic Resources) Code of Practice usage statistics from providers to library electronic repositories. SUSHI will help libraries make better decisions by reducing the administrative overhead of using Project COUNTER statistics. Publishers in the recording and exchange of usage statistics for electronic resources, initially journals and databases. By following COUNTER's Code of Practice, vendors can provide library customers with Excel or CSV (comma delimited) files of usage data using COUNTER's standardized formats and data elements. The result is a consistent, credible, and compatible set of usage data from multiple content providers. On this study, We propose the acquisition model of usage data based on SUSHI for KESLI that is overseas electronic journal consortium in korea.

This case study analyzed how electronic journal subscription had an effect on special library management including budget, information behavior, library operations, facilities, space et al. in KIST. This study suggests the followings; 1) Since electronic journals has an effect on overall operations of special libraries, draw big pictures not by functions. 2) Though the most method for subscription is consortium, it is necessary to build cooperation network for information sharing and vary cost architecture of information use. 3) Through job analysis, redesign jobs. 4) Reconstruct stacks and facilities. 5) It is necessary paradigm shift that it is more important to use than preserve materials in the special libraries.

Electronic information, especially e-journals took their position as core resources in current scholarly communication. However, the publishing and pricing structure of e-journal licensing process have not yet succeeded to be reorganized in accord with newly changed electronic scholarly communication environment. That resulted in a lot of challenges scholarly communication now faced. This study aimed to analyze key issues regarding big deal, pricing, licensing, archiving, copyright and public access by conducting comprehensive literature review and examining movements of world wide scholarly institutes and alliances. And then this study eventually purposed to draw some strategies which domestic libraries and consortia should take in order to lead current changes in scholarly communication.

Korean academic societies in science and technology are trying to improve the prestige and quality of their journals by enlisting them in international citation databases. In order to be enlisted in international citation databases, a journal should be managed and maintained according to the policies of organizations operating citation databases. In particular, a journal should have an effective on-line publishing process including fair and transparent peer-review. KISTI studied the systematical necessary element so that the domestic journal could receive the evaluation for the international index DB record. Based on this, KISTI designed the Article Contribution Management System(ACOMS) Ver. 4.0 including the academic journal homepage and completed the english ACOMS development in 2010. Presently the english ACOMS promotes the continued facility improvement in 2012 in order to be reborn as the international journal manuscript submission/review and electronic publishing system. And it is managed about the academic journal of 49 kinds including JICCE academic journal. Therefore, this paper suggests utilizing english ACOMS as a way for JICCE journal to enlist their journals in international citation database.

Despite the growing interest among researchers in the field of second language (L2) phonological acquisition and its apparent contribution to linguistic and acquisition theories, there have been concerns about the lack of pedagogical application of the research findings in L2 classrooms (Levis, 1999, Derwing & Munro, 2005). Based on the belief that meeting an existing pedagogic need is something that should receive primary attention in SLA, this study attempts to bridge the gap between L2 pronunciation research and pronunciation pedagogy. In so doing, this study provides a narrative literature review of papers on L2 pronunciation published from 1994 to 2008 in Korea. The articles for review were retrieved from five database search engines. In addition, six journals where relevant articles most frequently appeared were selected and electronic searches of these six journals were conducted. A total of 117 articles which met the selection criteria were collected, and were reviewed to answer the following three research questions: a) What are the current research trends in L2 pronunciation in Korea? b) Do the research trends reflect a shift of focus on L2 pronunciation teaching? and c) What is the range of research practices in L2 pronunciation? The review of the papers indicates that the number of studies on L2 pronunciation increased sharply from 1999 to 2003. Some changes in research topics were also noticed. Research on segmental features of English was dominant from 1994 to 1998, but became more balanced with research on suprasegmentals from 2004 to 2008. This review also discusses the range of research practices in L2 pronunciation and makes suggestions for future directions in L2 pronunciation research.

Although academic library budgets have been decreasing, the rates of print and electronic journal subscription price have consistently increased. In response to this, as part of efforts to ensure access to foreign academic materials, the Ministry of Education and Korea Education & Research Information Service (KERIS) have initiated and operated Foreign Research Information Center (FRIC) since 2006, pursuing shared acquisition and sharing of foreign print journals. This study investigates the roles/values, issues raised by stakeholders, improvements in services, and new service elements of FRIC through the in-depth interviews with librarians in charge of FRIC in addition to examining its current state. The findings show that FRIC has contributed to sharing of academic materials and to promoting research. However, it was also found that the five types of stakeholders (i.e., the Ministry of Education/KERIS, universities/libraries, users, FRICs, and publishers/agencies) have diverse issues and problems with FRIC. Therefore, this study makes some suggestions to address the issues in terms of policy, system, management, and service.

In this study, we investigated the problems of existing e-journal subscriptions caused by open access of e-journals faced by university libraries. To solve these problems, we proposed an operational model for open access based subscription. The proposed operational model, which adapts the four concepts of subscription model, system, policy, and operation interpreted according to reality, applies open access on the premise of rational subscription of electronic journals. The proposed operational model was constructed based on national support, comprehensive operation, open access based model, and cooperation system. In particular, it emphasized the need for stable and continuous access to scholarly information through national support policy. The proposed operational model can be used as a basic data for the realization and research of open access in the domestic environment.
