  • In this paper, we developed a fuzzy identification system to evaluate sensation of equilibrium objectively and quantitatively. By using caloric test. we estimated ECG(electro-cardiogram) and EOG(electro-oculogram), which were biomedical signals related to sensation of equilibrium, and used them as inputs of fuzzy identification system input. Fuzzy identification system analyzed the relationality between biomedical signals and sensation of equilibrium automatically, and evaluated it taking the co-relation between these signals into consideration.

  • In order to reduce costs of electricity energy at periods of peak demand, there has been an exponential interest in Demand Response (DR). This paper discusses the effect on the participants' behavior in response to DR. Under the assumption of perfect competition, the equilibrium point of the electricity market with DR is derived by modeling a DR curve, which is suitable for microeconomic analysis. Cournot model is used to analyze the electricity market of imperfect competition that includes strategic behavior of the generation companies. Strategic behavior with DR makes it harder to compute equilibrium point due to the non-differential function of payoff distribution. This paper presents a solution method for achieving the equilibrium point using the best response function of the strategic players. The effect of DR on the electricity market is illustrated using a test system.

  • Linear carbon chains (LCCs) encapsulated inside the hollow cores of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been experimentally synthesized and structurally characterized by Raman spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. However, in terms of electronic conductivity, their transportation mechanism has not been investigated theoretically or experimentally. In this study, the density of states and quantum conductance spectra were simulated through density functional theory combined with the non-equilibrium Green function method. The encapsulated LCCs inside (5,5), (6,4), and (9,0) single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) exhibited a drastic change from metallic to semiconducting or from semiconducting to metallic due to the strong charge transfer between them. On the other hand, the electronic change in the conductance value of LCCs encapsulated inside the (7,4) SWCNT were in good agreement with the superposition of the individual SWCNTs and the isolated LCCs owing to the weak charge transfer.

  • Data fusion is an attractive technology because it allows various trade-offs related to performance metrics, e.g., energy, latency, accuracy, fault-tolerance and security in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Under a complicated environment, each sensor node must be equipped with more than one type of sensor module to monitor multi-targets, so that the complexity for the fusion process is increased due to the existence of various physical attributes. In this paper, we first investigate the process and performance of multi-attribute fusion in data gathering of WSNs, and then propose a self-adaptive threshold method to balance the different change rates of each attributive data. Furthermore, we present a method to measure the energy-conservation efficiency of multi-attribute fusion. Based on our proposed methods, we design a novel energy equilibrium routing method for WSNs, viz., multi-attribute fusion tree (MAFT). Simulation results demonstrate that MAFT achieves very good performance in terms of the network lifetime.

  • When high energy photon beam is incident upon an air cavity interface the effect of ionization build-up observed. This phenomenon is resulting from the surface layers of the lesions are significant deficiency of electrons reaching the layers because of the replacement of solid scattering material by the air cavity, that is lack of electronic equilibrium. Measurement have been made in an acrylic phantom with a parallel plate chamber and high energy Photon beams, CO-60, 4MV, 6MV and 10MV X-rays have been investigated. The result of our study show that a significant effect was measured and was determined to be very dependent on field size, air cavity dimension and photon energy. The reductions were much larger for 10MV beam, underdosage at the interface was 12, 12.2, 16.9 and 20.6% for the CO-60, 4 MV, 6MV and 10MV, respectively. It was found that this non-equilibrium effect at the interface is more severe for the higher energy beams than that of lower energy beams and the larger cavity dimensions it is, the larger beam reductions we have. This problem is of clinical concern when lesions such as carcinoma beyond air cavities are irradiated, such as larynx, glottic and the patients with maxillectomy and ethmoidectomy and so forth.

  • This article investigates the use of the Gaussian-channel doping profile for the control of the short-channel effects in the double-gate MOSFET whereby a two-dimensional (2D) quantum simulation was used. The simulations were completed through a self-consistent solving of the 2D Poisson equation and the Schrodinger equation within the non-equilibrium Green’s function (NEGF) formalism. The impacts of the p-type-channel Gaussian-doping profile parameters such as the peak doping concentration and the straggle parameter were studied in terms of the drain current, on-current, off-current, sub-threshold swing (SS), and drain-induced barrier lowering (DIBL). The simulation results show that the short-channel effects were improved in correspondence with incremental changes of the straggle parameter and the peak doping concentration.

  • As the size of semiconductor devices shrinks in the horizontal as well as vertical dimension it is difficult to estimate the transport-velocity of electron because they drift in non-equilibrium with a few scattering. In this paper HYbrid Monte Carlo simulator which employs the drift-diffusion model for hole-transport and Monte Carlo model for electron-transport in order to reduce the simulation time and increase the accuracy as well has been developed and applied to analyze the electron-transport in InAlAs/InGaAs HBT which is attractive for an ultra high speed active device in high speed optical fiber transmission systems in terms of the velocity and energy distribution as well as cutoff frequency.

  • In this paper, we explore the electrical properties and high-frequency performance of carbon nanotube field-effect transistors (CNTFETs), based on the non-equilibrium Green's functions (NEGF) solved self - consistently with Poisson's equations. The calculated results show that CNTFETs exhibit superior performance compared with graphene nanoribbon field-effect transistors (GNRFETs), such as better control ability of the gate on the channel, higher drive current with lower subthreshold leakage current, and lower subthreshold-swing (SS). Due to larger band-structure-limited velocity in CNTFETs, ballistic CNTFETs present better high-frequency performance limit than that of Si MOSFETs. The parameter effects of CNTFETs are also investigated. In addition, to enhance the immunity against short - channel effects (SCE), hetero - material - gate CNTFETs (HMG-CNTFETs) have been proposed, and we present a detailed numerical simulation to analyze the performances of scaling down, and conclude that HMG-CNTFETs can meet the ITRS'10 requirements better than CNTs.

  • Adsorption and desorption experiments were carried out on rough rice and brown rice (Nampyung) at 5, 15, 25, 35, $45^{\circ}C$ for moisture contents between 8.7 and $25\%$ (db). The method employed was to measure the equilibrium relative humidity (ERH) of air in contact with the grain under static conditions, using an electronic hygrometer The effects of temperature and moisture contents were investigated, and the measured values were fitted to the modified Henderson, the modified Chung-Pfost, the modified Halsey and the modified Oswin model. The ERHs of rough rice and brown rice decreased with an decrease in moisture content and temperature, and the effects of temperature was no significant at moisture content of $25\%$ (db). Equilibrium moisture content (EMC) of brown rice was higher than rough rice at same temperature and relative humidity. Desorption EMC is higher than the adsorption, but there is no significant difference between desorption and adsorption EMC in moisture content near $25\%$ (db) at rough rice and near 9, 21 and $25\%$ (db) at brown rice. The modified Oswin model was the best in describing the adsorption EMC and the modified Chung-Pfost model was the best in describing the adsorption ERH of rough rice. The modified Oswin model was the best in describing the adsorption EMC/ERH of brown rice. The modified Chung-Pfost model was the best in describing the desorption EMC/ERH of rough rice and brown rice.

  • Nano composite sample were irradiated and annealed to study irradiation induced phase transformation behavior by nano indention technique. The specimens with 3mm in diameter were irradiatied. Polycrystalline nano filaments were broken their shape and tended to be equilibrium shape like facted sphere. The hardness of irradiatied nanocomposites was decreased by annealing which resulted from the grooving of silver filaments.
