An Array-Based Sensor for Seafood Freshness Assessment

  • This paper describes the development of an automated, hand-held sensor for the fast assessment of seafood freshness. The sensor developed here combined: an array-based chemical sensor, composed of incrementally different conducting polymer elements deposited on a small chip; a highly sensitive, custom-made electronics for the detection of very small signal changes; precise temperature control of the sensor chamber; and an on-board microcontroller for data collection, storage, automation, and analysis. The instrument was used to successfully test seafood samples with different degree of freshness and spoilage. A linear relationship between microbiological count and e-Nose signal for three different fish fillet was developed. Once the linear relationship is included into the hand-held unit software, the e-Nose signal can be used for assessment of seafood freshness without performing the microbiological count technique.

  • 본 논문은 자동차용 능동 전륜 조향 제어 시스템을 소개한다. 능동 전륜 조향 장치는 조향의 편의성과 안정성을 위하여 조향비를 가변하거나 유사시 능동적으로 전자 제어 유닛(Electronic Control Unit : ECU)이 액추에이터를 제어해 주는 시스템이다. 최근 전자 샤시 시스템의 개발 추세인 샤시 통합 제어 관점에서 능동 전륜 조향 장치의 역할을 설정하고 성능 만족을 위한 제어기 구조에 관하여 설명한다. 설계된 제어 시스템을 3,300cc급 대형 승용차에 적용하여 그 유용성을 검증하였다.

  • 사용 편의나 안전 서비스를 위해 자동차에 내장되는 전자장치(ECU: Electronic Control Unit)는 증가하고 분산 네트워크 구조에서 운영되도록 네트워크 기반 응용 SW는 더욱 복잡해진다. 복잡해지고 분산화되는 ECU에 적용 가능한 응용서비스 개발을 위해 운영체제에서부터 플랫폼 및 응용 SW에 이르기까지 다양한 분야의 산업 표준화가 진행되고 있다. 운영체제 분야에서는 OSEK/VDX, SW 플랫폼 및 응용서비스 분야에서는 AUTOSAR, 응용서비스의 안전과 신뢰성 검증을 위하여 IEC-61508등에 근거하는 FTA(Fault Tree Analysis) 및 FMEA(Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) 등을 SW 분야에서도 반영하는 추세이다. 본 논문에서는 자동차 전자장치에 사용되는 IT기술의 접목 분야별 표준화 동향과 각 국가 및 지역별 추진방향을 살펴본다.

  • Due to small and light mission payloads, subsystems and propulsion system, small sized UAVs come to be available for reconnaissance that have been performed by aircraft and huge UAVs. The objective of this study is to develop an efficient propulsion system for small reconnaissance UAVs. A glow engine was modified for an efficient and robust 4-stroke gasoline engine with carburetor, new electronic control unit and lubrication system. Engine modification technique and small engine performance test stand are capable of economical method for military UAVs.

  • HILS(Hardware In-the-Loop Simulation) is an effective tool for design, performance evaluation and test of developed vehicle subsystems such as ABS(Antilock Brake System), suspension, and steering systems. This paper describes a HILS model for an ABS/ASR application. Also the implementation of HILS system for performance test of the ABS ECU(Electronic Control Unit) for commercial vehicles is presented.

Multi-stack Technique for a Compact and Wideband EBG Structure in High-Speed Multilayer Printed Circuit Boards

  • We propose a novel multi-stack (MS) technique for a compact and wideband electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structure in high-speed multilayer printed circuit boards. The proposed MS technique efficiently converts planar EBG arrays into a vertical structure, thus substantially miniaturizing the EBG area and reducing the distance between the noise source and the victim. A dispersion method is presented to examine the effects of the MS technique on the stopband characteristics. Enhanced features of the proposed MS-EBG structure were experimentally verified using test vehicles. It was experimentally demonstrated that the proposed MS-EBG structure efficiently suppresses the power/ground noise over a wideband frequency range with a shorter port-to-port spacing than the unit-cell length, thus overcoming a limitation of previous EBG structures.

Fault Current Limitation by a Superconducting Coil with a Reversely Magnetized Core for a Fault Current Controller

  • This paper presents an experimental and numerical study on current limiting characteristics of a fault current controller (FCC). The FCC consists of an AC/DC power converter, a superconducting coil, and a control unit. Even though some previous researches proved that the FCC could adjust the fault current level, the current limiting characteristics by the superconducting coil should be investigated for design of the coil. In this paper, four kinds of model coils were tested; 1) air core, 2) iron core without any bias, 3) reversely magnetized core (RMC) using permanent magnets, and 4) RMC using an electromagnet. Based on a comparative study, it is confirmed that a RMC by an electromagnet (EM) could increase the effective inductance of the coil. In this paper, a numerical code to simulate the HTS coil with RMC was developed. This code can be applied to design the HTS coil with active reversely magnetized bias coil.

  • During the past decade, several specific hardwares for fast fuzzy inference have been developed. Most of them are dedicated to a specific inference method and thus cannot support other inference methods. In this paper, we present a hardware architecture called KAFA(KAist Fuzzy Accelerator) which provides various fuzzy inference methods and fuzzy set operators. The architecture has SIMD structure, which consists of two parts; system control/interface unit(Main Controller) and arithmetic units(FPEs). Using the parallel processing technology, the KAFA has the high performance for fuzzy information processing. The speed of the KAFA holds promise for the development of the new fuzzy application systems.

  • CRDI 시스템에서의 ECU는 센서의 정보를 분석하여 최적의 조건으로 엔진이 동작하도록 한다. 이러한 ECU의 프로그램 부분과 데이터 부분은 제작자에서만 변경할 수 있어 엔진을 진단하는 진단기의 경우 전문가가 아니면 사용하거나 내용을 이해하기가 쉽지 않다. 본 연구에서는 산업용 차량의 엔진 데이터 값을 OBD-II 표준을 사용하여 입력받아 사용자 중심의 진단기를 PC 및 모바일용으로 개발하였다. 본 연구의 진단기는 운전자 중심의 진단 서비스를 제공하며, 자동차 고장진단 신호 및 센서 출력 신호를 유선시스템과 무선 시스템인 블루투스 모듈을 이용하여 실시간 통신이 제공되도록 함으로써 엔진이상으로 인한 사고의 예방이 가능하고, 최적의 조건으로 엔진이 동작하므로 과도한 배기가스 배출이나 불완전 연소가스 배출과 같은 대기환경오염을 예방할 수 있어 최근 대두되고 있는 에코산업에도 이바지 할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 본 논문에서는 VeriStand 를 이용하여 차량 전자제어장치의 실시간 테스트 환경을 구축한다. 구축한 테스트 환경에서 테스트 케이스의 일괄 실행 및 결과 분석 보고서를 생성하는 테스트 클라이언트를 개발하고 이를 통해 구축한 테스트 환경의 유효성을 검증한다.
