  • This paper proposes a new magnetic resonant wireless power transfer system. Two transmitters are arranged to secure a range wider than the existing one-to-one resonance, thereby enhancing the practicality of the system. Two identical transmission units are arranged to strengthen the magnetic field and to subsequently increase the magnitude and distance of the power transmitted to the reception unit. A constant power can be maintained in a wide range through the phase control of different output powers according to the positions of the transmitting and receiving coils. A constant power can also be obtained by transmitting to the receiver. The experiment results show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional method.

  • Electrolytic power capacitors today form essential components for virtually any power electronic system such as DC/DC converter or UPS. Frequently, electrolytic capacitors for DC link voltage smoothing are the key components which determine the life cycle of the whole unit and often are responsible for converter breakdown failures. In this paper, ethernet-based remote diagnosis system for DC voltage smoothing capacitor using DSP control board is developed. To estimate the status of the capacitor, the equivalent series resistor(ESR) of the component has to be determined. The ESR detection scheme is based on the determination of the capacitor ripple power losses calculated from DC link voltage/current measurement. Experimental results show the veridity and reliability of the proposed ethernet-based remote on-line capacitor diagnosis system.

  • As a main management unit of MSC, PMU controls the MSC payload operation by issuing commands to other subunit and PMU internal modules. One of these main control functions is to drive the APS(Antenna Pointing System) when APS motion is required. For this purpose, SBC(Single Board Computer) for calculating motor commands and APDE for driving APM(Antenna Pointing Mechanism) by PWM signal operate inside PUM. In this paper, details on APDE design shall be described such as electronic board architecture, primary and redundant design concept, Cross-Strap, FPGA contents and latch-up immune concept, etc., which shall show good practices of electronic board design for space program.

  • In this paper, we develop and implement a high integrity GNC(Guidance, Navigation, and Control) system, based on the combined use of the Global Positioning System (GPS) and an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), for autonomous land vehicle applications. This paper highlights guidance for the predetermined trajectory and navigation with detection of possible faults during the fusion process in order to enhance the integrity of the navigation loop. The implementation of the GNC system to the autonomous land vehicle presented with fault detection methodology considers high frequency faults from the GPS receiver caused by shadowing and multipath error The implementation, based on a low-cost, strapdown INS aided by standard GPS technology, is described. The results of the field test in the urban environment are presented and showed effectiveness of the GNC system.

  • The wavelet transform chip is implemented with Daubechies' 4 tap filter. It works at 20MHz in Field Programmable Gate array (FPGA) implementation of Quadrature Mirror Filter(QMF) Lattice Structure. In this paper, the structure contains taro-channel quadrature mirror filter, data format converter(DFC), delay control unit(DCU), and three 20$\times$8 bits real multiplier. The structures for the DFC and DCU need to he regular and scalable, require minimum number of regular, and thereby lead to an efficient and scalable architecture for the Discrete Wavelet Transform(DWT). These results present the possibility that it can be used in Digital Signal Processing(DSP) application faster than Fourier transform at small area with lour cost.

High Performance MPPT Based on Variable Speed Generator Driven by Wind Power Generation in Battery Applications

  • A wind generator (WG) maximum power point tracking (MPPT) system is presented here. It comprises of a variable-speed wind generator, a high-efficiency boost-type dc/dc converter and a control unit. The advantages of the aimed system are that it does not call for the knowledge of the wind speed or the optimal power characteristics and that it operates at a variable speed, thus providing high efficiency. The WG operates at variable speed and thus suffers lower stress on the shafts and gears compared to constant-speed systems. It results in a better exploitation of the available wind energy, especially in the low wind-speed range of 2.5-4.5 m/s. It does not depend on the WG wind and rotor-speed ratings or the dc/dc converter power rating. Higher reliability, lower complexity and cost, and less mechanical stress of the WG. It can be applied to battery-charging applications.

  • Photovoltaic energy and wind energy are highly dependent on the season, time and extremely intermittent energy sources. Because of these reasons, in view of the reliability the photovoltaic and the wind power generation system have many problems(energy conversion, energy storage, load control etc.) comparing with conventional power plant. In order to solve these existing problems, hybrid generation system composed of photovoltaic(500W) and wind power system(400W) was suggested But, hybrid generation system cannot always generate stable output due to the varying weather condition So, the auxiliary power compensation unit that uses elastic energy of spiral spring was added to hybrid generation system for the present study. It was partly confirmed that hybrid generation system was generated a stable outputs by spiral spring was continuously provided to load.

Modified Circulant Feedback Delay Networks (MCFDN's) for Artificial Reverberator Using a General Recursive Filter and CFDN's

  • Circulant Feedback Delay Networks (CFDN's), whose feedback matrix is circulant to control the stability of system and time-frequency response easier than unitary one, were recently proposed. However, the drawback of this structure is that the flatness of the frequency response of CFDN's is not enough and it is difficult to adjust the placement of zeros to decrease this problem. Therefore, we propose Modified CFDN's (MCFDN's) consisted of a general recursive filter and CFDN's to maintain maximally the impulse response of CFDN's and improve the flatness of frequency response without adjusting the placement of zeros. The delay unit of a general recursive filter's feedback loop is replaced by CFDN's, are omitted the direct path. We represent the usefulness of MCFDN's to build artificial reverberators and the main parameter to determine characteristics of MCFDN's in this paper.

  • In this paper, a floating-point processor which satisfied the subset of the proposed IEEE standard has been designed and realized by TTL chips. This processor consists of a floating-point arithmetic unit and a control sequencer. AHPL has been used in the design of sequencer. The execution times for the arithmetic operations were measured and compared with other microprocessor. The results had shown faster operations compared to the Z-80 processor. Though this processor was built by TTL chips, it could be fabricated as a one-chip processor.
