The control of the power conversion system (PCS) in a battery energy storage system has a challenge due to the existence of grid impedance. This paper studies an impedance model of an LCL-based PCS in the d-q domain. The feature of a PCS connected to a weak grid is unveiled by use of an impedance model and a generalized Nyquist criterion. It is shown that the interaction between grid impedance and the PCS destabilizes the cascaded system in certain cases. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel control method that adopts virtual resistors to overcome this issue. The improvement in the control loop leads the PCS to a more stable condition than the conventional method. Impedance measurement is implemented to verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis. Experimental results obtained from a down-scaled prototype indicate that the proposed control method can improve the performance of the PCS under a weak grid.
Various defects are found in FPD (Flat Panel Display) manufacturing process. So detecting these defects early and reprocessing them is an important factor that reduces the cost of production. In this paper, the bare glass inspection system for the FPD which is the early process inspection system in the FPD manufacturing process is designed and implemented using the high performance and accuracy CCD line scan camera. For the preprocessing of the high speed line image data, the Image Processing Part (IPP) is designed and implemented using high performance DSP (Digital signal Processor), FIFO (First in First out), FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and the Data Management and System Control part are implemented using ARM (Advanced RISC Machine) processor to control many IPP and cameras and to provide remote users with processed data. For evaluating implemented system, experiment environment which has an area camera for reviewing and moving shelf is made.

This paper proposes a soft-remote-control (soft-remocon) system based on EMG signals for the Intelligent Sweet Home. The proposed system is applied to Intelligent Sweet Home which was developed to help the independence living of the elderly and physically handicapped individuals. The goal of proposed system is to control home-installed electronic devices such as TV, air-conditioner, curtain and lamp in Intelligent Sweet Home using EMG signals. Features such as VAR and DAMV having good separability performance are selected for pattern classification. FMMNN is adopted as a pattern classifier. Classification results are allowed to a developed remote control module and then corresponding infrared pulses can operate home-installed electronic devices. We concluded that EMG as an input interface for home-installed electronic devices in Intelligent Sweet Home.
This paper presents an adaptive neural dynamic surface control (DSC) approach with $H_{\infty}$ tracking performance for a full dynamics of a nonlinear flight system. It is assumed in this paper that model uncertainties such as structured and unstrutured uncertainties and external disturbances influence the nonlinear aircraft model. In our control system, self recurrent wavelet neural networks (SRWNNs) are used to compensate model uncertainties of the nonlinear flight system, and an adaptive DSC technique is extended for disturbance attenuation of the nonlinear flight system. From Lyapunov stability theorem, it is shown that $H_{\infty}$ performance from external disturbances can be obtained. Finally, we perform the simulation for the nonlinear six-degree-of-freedom F-16 aircraft model to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control system.
It's not easy to detect the high quality and functional compounds for control quality of food materials. The electronic nose was an instrument, which comprised of an array of electronic chemical sensors with partial specificity and an appropriate pattern recognition system, capable of recognizing simple or complex odors. It can conduct fast analysis and provide simple and straightforward results and is best suited for quality control and process monitoring in the field of functional foods. Numbers of applications of an electronic nose in the functional food industry include discrimination of habitats for medicinal food materials, monitoring storage process, lipid oxidation, and quality control of food and/or processing with principal component analysis, neural network analysis and the electronic nose based on GC-SAW sensor. The electronic nose would be possibly useful for a wide variety of quality control in the functional food and plant cultivation when correlating traditional analytical instrumental data with sensory evaluation results or electronic nose data.
A mathematical model and control laws for an Electronic-Vacuum Booster (EVB) for application to vehicle cruise control will be presented. Also this paper includes performance test result of EVB and vehicle cruise control experiments. The pressure difference between the vacuum chamber and the apply chamber is controlled by a PWM-solenoid-valve. Since the pressure at the vacuum chamber is identical to that of the engine intake manifold, the output of the electronic-vacuum booster Is sensitive to engine speed. The performance characteristics of the electronic-vacuum booster have been investigated via computer simulations and vehicle tests. The mathematical model of the electronic-vacuum booster developed in this study and a two-state dynamic engine model have been used in the simulations. It has been shown by simulations and vehicle tests that the EVB-cruise control system can provide a vehicle with good distance control performance in both high speed and low speed stop and go driving situations.
An electronic-hydraulic controlled line pressure system was suggested based on the mechanical controlled CVT base model. As a high level control strategy, a 3-D optimal line pressure map was obtained considering the driver's desire, driving conditions. Also, PID type low level controller was designed. Using the high level control strategy and the dynamic models of the base model CVT with electronic controlled line pressure system, performance simulations were carried out. It is seen from the simulation results that fuel economy of the electronic controlled strategy keeps the line pressure low, which results in the improved efficiency of the hydraulic system.
The new robust controller design method is proposed for the flight control systems with model uncertainties. The proposed control system is a combination of the adaptive dynamic surface control (DSC) technique and the self recurrent wavelet neural network (SRWNN). The adaptive DSC technique provides us with the ability to overcome the "explosion of complexity" problem of the backstepping controller. The SRWNNs are used to observe the arbitrary model uncertainties of flight systems and all their weights are trained on-line. From the Lyapunov stability analysis, their adaptation laws are induced and the uniformly ultimately boundedness of all signals in a closed-loop adaptive system is proved. Finally, simulation results for a high performance aircraft (F-16) are utilized to validate the good tracking performance and robustness of the proposed control system.
It is important to select a reliable electronic control system in power plants because a trip of a power plant caused by malfunction of the control system can lead to a great deal of economic and social loss. In this paper. environmental test specifications for evaluating the reliability of the electronic control system were developed in order to select a reliable one. Also, the electronic control systems made by domestic manufacturers were tested based on these developed environmental test specifications.
