  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the performance of M-ary PSK communication system according to the types of electromagnetic interference in an impulsive noise environment. We have introduced Gaussian, sinusoidal and rectangular waves as a electromagnetic interference. Using the derived equations, we evaluated the error performance of the BPSK and QPSK system in the presence of electromagnetic interference and impulsive noise. From results, we have obtained that the Gaussian wave produced the most significant performance degradation and that sinusoidal wave produced more performance degradation than rectangular wave. Therefore, without knowing the types of electromagnetic interference, it is best to regard it as Gaussian wave when designing a communication system. In addition, we could found out that the error performance degrades as impulsive noise becomes strong and the error performance can not be improved significantly even the electromagnetic interference becomes weak. Therefore, this describes that the impulsive noise affects dominantly to the performance degradation.

  • With the recent introduction of 5G, electromagnetic radiation sources are spreading throughout life, so it is necessary to establish a citizen-centered electromagnetic safety management system. In particular, the beamforming method of the 5G antenna increases the power density measurement of electromagnetic waves by more than 10 times when the wireless base station is installed, so it is unreasonable to determine the safety by physical measurement. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the presence or absence of electromagnetic wave safety in daily life through a predictive method by calculation through systematic model analysis. In this paper, in order to check the possibility of a 5G wireless base station using an electromagnetic wave numerical analysis tool as a way to solve this problem, we compared the measured values of the actual base stations and the predicted values through the prediction model to compare the reliability. A method of constructing a real-time base station electromagnetic wave strength prediction evaluation system combined with software was also proposed.

  • The radiation impedance of a magnetostatic surface wave excited in a microstrip line haying ferrite film and its dependence on the width of the microstrip line and the height of the ferrite film are calculated by the full-wave moment analysis. The radiation resistance calculated by the full-wave analysis closely agrees with the measured radiation resistance, while that by the magnetostatic approximation greatly differs from the measured result in the higher-frequency region.

  • In this paper, a free-space material measurement technique is discussed in W-band(75~110 GHz). For the accurate measurement of S-parameters of an MUT(Material Under Test) in free space, a W-band quasi-optical free-space material measurement system, less affected by the measurement environments, is discussed, and GRL(Gated Reflect Line) method for calibrating the measurement system is described. Proposed technique is verified for 'Air' and measurement results for arystal plates of thickness 1.1 mm, 2 mm, 2.75 mm and 5 mm are also shown.

  • This paper deals with research for development of electromagnetic wave absorbers in sheet type for mobile phones. By controlling the sendust ratio, the $Al(OH)_3$ coating, the thickness, the kind of binders, and the milling time, electromagnetic wave absorbers were prepared and examined. Central frequency shills toward lower 2.2 GHz, 1.29 GHz, 842 MHz with increasing thickness 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm of the absorber, and absorption ability controlled each 2.2 GHz to 1.91 GHz, 1.29 GHz to 801 MHz, 842 MH2 to 801 MHz adjust sendust amount from 80 wt% to 85 wt%. The absorption band of the electromagnetic wave absorber coated with $Al(OH)_3$ becomes larger than that of non-coated one. Sendust composite microwave absorbers mixed with CPE were prepared at $70^{\circ}C$ in temperature. The fabricated electromagnetic wave absorbers show a reflection coefficient 5.76 dB at 1.8 GHz in thickness of 0.85 mm.

  • Recently, GFRP is well known as a structural material for the radome of aircraft. In this paper, we have observed the reflectivity of electromagnetic waves on GFRP reinforced with $\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3$ woven fabric. The result of the experiment has revealed that the reflectivity of $\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3$/GFRP composites is remarkably reduced compared with that of GFRP. And it also shows that the electromagnetic wave reflections are greatly influenced by the number of $\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3$ plies in a specific frequency band. These results are expected to be utilized for the technique of manufacturing a low-reflectivity composite structure.

  • The goal of this research is to get a measuring system for absorption characteristics of electromagnetic wave absorbers in fernite type which are flat, grid-type and special type, etc. It is, however, very difficult to measure the absorption characteristics in as low frequency as 30 MHz. To solve the problem, therefore, we propose a standing wave method and a measurement method in time domain using paralledl striplines, construct the measuring system, and measure the charac- teristics of ferrite microwave absorbers in grid type using the proposed measuring system.

  • The present study formulates the theory of spontaneously emitted electromagnetic fluctuations in magnetized plasmas containing particles with an anisotropic suparthermal (bi-Kappa) velocity distribution function. The formalism is general applying for an arbitrary wave vector orientation and wave polarization, and for any wave-frequency range. As specific applications, the high-frequency electromagnetic fluctuations emitted in the upper-hybrid and multiple harmonic electron cyclotron frequency range are evaluated. The fluctuations for low-frequency are also applied, which include the kinetic $Alfv\acute{e}n$, fast magnetosonic/whistler, kinetic slow mode, ion Bernstein cyclotron modes, and higher-order modes. The model predictions are confirmed by a comparison with particle-in-cell simulations. The study describes how energetic particles described by kappa velocity distribution functions influence the spectrum of high and low frequency fluctuations in magnetized plasmas. The new formalism provides quantitative analysis of naturally occurring electromagnetic fluctuations, and contribute to an understanding of the electromagnetic fluctuations observed in space plasmas, where kappa-distributed particles are ubiquitous.

  • Based on graphene oxide and multi-walled carbon nanotube layers, a wireless bi-layer actuator that can be remotely controlled with an electromagnetic induction system has been developed. The graphene-based bi-layer actuator exhibits a large one-way bending deformation under eddy current stimuli due to asymmetrical responses originating from the temperature difference of the two different carbon layers. In order to validate one-way bending actuation, the coefficients of thermal expansion of carbon nanotube and graphene oxide are mathematically formulated in this study based on the atomic bonding energy related to the bonding length. The newly designed graphene-based bi-layer actuator is highly sensitive to electromagnetic wave irradiation thus it can trigger a new actuation mode for the realization of remotely controllable actuators and is expected to have potential applications in various wireless systems.

  • When the energy of the nanoseconds high voltage pulse with hundreds picoseconds of the pulse rise time is emitted into the free space via an antenna, an ultra wide band electromagnetic wave is generated. This electromagnetic wave is expected to be used in transmitting vast amount of informations to far distance, high performance radars, post-packaging pasteurization of food, the detection of underground buried objects, searching of underground water veins or caves, the treatment of waste water or polluted gases and so forth. Additionally, this technology can be used in EMI(electromagnetic interference) evaluation of measuring instruments or printed circuit boards.
