재래시장 상가에서 과전류 및 직렬아크의 전류 신호에 대한 분석 (Analysis of Current Signals for Overcurrent and Series Arc in Traditional Market Shops)

  • This paper is aimed to analysis of electrical fire risk by overcurrent and series arc signals in traditional market shops Firstly, the field state investigation was conducted for shops at the traditional market (30 shops). At each shop in the traditional market, load characteristics were investigated and thermal characteristics in Panel were analyzed. Thermal characteristics in Panel is an indicator that can determine the impact of overcurrent. Results of the field state investigation found out four shops which showed abnormal thermal characteristics in Panel. Electrical load characteristics of these 4 shops were simulated by experimental setup consists of generator, motor and heater. In order to verify the electrical fire risk by electrical loads of 4 shops, arc and overcurrent experiments were conducted. The waveshapes of arc and overcurrent are investigated in both the time and frequency domains to find signal characteristics. The results obtained in this paper will be very helpful for the prevention of electrical fires occurred at the shops in the traditional market.

반도체 공정 칠러 장비의 히터 접속부 전기배선에 대한 열적 특성 분석 (Analysis of Thermal Characteristic for Wiring at Heater Connector of Semiconductor Chiller Equipment)

  • With the technological development of the semiconductor industry, the roles of electrical and thermal energy supply and control of semiconductor equipment in ultrafine processes have become very important. However, instances of electrical fires in the chiller heater, which is used for cooling in the semiconductor manufacturing process, are increasing. A fire occurs in combustibles due to high heat at the connection part of the chiller heater, that is, when the number of electrical wires in the connection part is reduced or when the wires are completely disconnected. In this study, the temperature characteristics were compared and analyzed through experiments and 3D simulations. The number of electrical wires, which is the connection part of the chiller heater, was reduced by 90%, 50%, 30%, 10%, and 5%, and the wires were completely disconnected. When the number of electrical wires was reduced by 5%, heat of up to 80℃ was generated, which is a relatively high temperature but insufficient to cause a fire in combustibles. Complete disconnection occurred due to the vibration of the motor and other components, and sparks and arcs were generated, resulting in a rapid increase in temperature to up to 680℃. When completely disconnected, the temperature increase was sufficient to cause a fire in the combustibles covering the terminal block. Therefore, in this study, the causes of electrical fires in chiller heaters were investigated and preventive measures were proposed by analyzing abnormal signals and thermal characteristics caused by the electrical wiring being reduced and completely disconnected.

배선에서의 반단선 및 접촉불량에 대한 열적 전조 DB구축 (Development of Thermal Precursor DB for Partial Disconnection and Poor Contact on Electrical Wire)

  • This paper aims at the precursor analysis and DB development of electrical fires based on thermal and current signals for partial disconnection and poor contact on electric wires through experiments and simulations. Also, DB system required for developing the precursor DB with these data was studied and designed. Firstly, in case of partial disconnection, characteristics were derived and analyzed by experiment and electrical-thermal finite element method(Flux 3D) on the model wires which consist of VCTF and IV electric wires. Based on the characteristics, About 351 partial disconnection precursor patterns were generated by the thermal analysis for electric wire according to deterioration time under normal state and 200% overload state of rated current. Secondly, in order to develop poor contact precursor patterns, temperature value and the current signal were considered. In simulating the poor contact situation on connector area of MCCB, connection torque was changed. Through the experimental analysis, about 251 poor contact precursor patterns were generated. Finally, Using thermal precursor patterns obtained by partial disconnection and poor contact, electrical fire thermal precursor DB was developed.

Investigations on PD Characteristics of Thermal aged Palm and Corn Oil for Power Transformer Insulation Applications

  • Partial discharge (PD) detection plays a major role in the life time assessment of liquid insulation in power transformers. Many research works are being carried out to replace conventional mineral oil insulation in transformers by vegetable oils. It is necessary to understand the PD characteristics of vegetable oils before recommending them as an alternate for mineral oil. In this paper, the breakdown strength and PD characteristics of palm and corn oil were investigated in both unaged and thermally aged conditions. Laboratory experiments were performed as per IEC test procedures. PD signals were measured using wide band detection system. Phase resolved PD pattern of vegetable oils and mineral oil were compared. Effect of increase in voltage stress on the PD pattern of palm and corn oil were studied. Time and frequency domain analysis of PD pulses at needle-plane electrode configuration was carried out. Statistical analysis of PD pattern i.e. skewness and shape parameter variations with respect to applied thermal stress were also carried out. From the results, it is observed that palm and corn oils have better breakdown strength and PD characteristics even under long-term thermal stress and hence they can be used for power transformer applications.

  • Reduction in pollution performance of polymeric insulators, aged due to water absorption stress and thermal stress, is a major threat to the reliable operation of power transmission and distribution system. Formation of partial discharges on the surface of wet polluted insulator plays a major role in determining the life time and pollution performance of outdoor polymeric insulators. However, reports on partial discharge characteristics of water absorption stress aged and thermal aged polymeric insulators are scanty. This paper discusses the pollution performance characteristics of accelerated aged polymeric insulators using the advanced ultra wide band PD signal measurement and analysis. Laboratory experiments on accelerated aged polymeric insulators were carried out as per IEC 60507 under AC voltage, at different humidity and contamination levels using NaCl as a contaminant. PRPD pattern and Time-Frequency map analysis of PD signals were carried out. From the results, it can be speculated that PD analysis is a well suited technique to understand the pollution performance of aged polymeric insulators.

  • This paper explains the design and fabrication of an inverter for LCD backlight using a multilayer piezoelectric transformer. That inverter is operated by the burst dimming method whose dimming signal is controlled by the duty ratio of rectangular switching signal to a PWM controller. The brightness of CCFL's are investigated according to the various dimming signals, and when those CCFL's are turned on, the temperature distributions on the piezoelectric transformer and circuit components of the inverter are also investigated by a thermo-camera.

  • High voltage induction motors are widely used in industrial factory because have many benefits. But the insulated materials of induction motor are aged by using time, electrical, thermal, circumstantial stresses and so on. Motor failures are occurred by these deterioration phenomena and give rise economic problems to user. In many motor failures, insulated material problems of stator winding happen frequently and occupy high percentages in the failure source. In this paper, the testing specimen(motorette) is manufactured by modeling of stator winding of high voltage induction motor and accelerating test is carried out. Partial discharge signals detected by RF sensor are used to analyze deterioration condition of stator windings. According to aging time, the 3D ( ${\Phi}$-Q-N) distribution and skewness of partial discharge signals are changed.

  • Power capacitors are highly reliable equipment due to their completely enclosed configuration. Aging diagnosis system using partial discharge(PD) and acoustic emission(AE) is being highlighted as a research area for degradation of power capacitors. Their dielectric strength can be however reduced due to some stresses such as over-voltage or thermal degradation of the insulation material during their long period of operation. In this paper, it has been developed to express the AE of the EVENT(average amplitude) and HIT(pulse count) according to the source location. And real time measurement of PD signals for aging diagnosis of power capacitors.

  • This paper is about research of scintillator layer, which is used for Hybrid method to increase electric signals in a-Se, the material of Direct method. In case of the thermal evaporation, CsI has column structure which is an disadvantage as scintillator. But it decreases scattering of incident X-ray, has better Light output intensity than other scintillation materials. CsI was made by Thermal evaporation. The Doping material, Na, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7g were added in each sample. Analysis of absorbed wavelength, PL(Photoluminescence), Light output intensity, SEM, and XRD analysis were performed to analyze optical characteristics. Doping rate of CsI:Na to use as scintillation layer in a-Se based detector could be optimized.

  • In this study, $Ge_8Se_{(2+x)}Te_{(6-x)}$ thin film amorphous-to-crystalline phase-change rate was evaluated in using a nano-pulse scanner. The focused laser beam with a diameter <10 ${\mu}m$ was illuminated in the power (P) and pulse duration (t) ranges of 1-31 mW and 10-460 ns, respectively, with subsequent detection of the responsive signals reflected from the film surface. We also evaluated the material characteristics, such as optical absorption and energy gap, crystalline phases, and sheet resistance of as-deposited and annealed films. The result of experiments showed that the thermal stability of the Ge-Se-Te film is largely improved by adding Se.
