A Study on Driving Mechanism of Robot Hand Driven by SMA based on Segmented Binary Control (구간분할 바이너리 제어기반 SMA 구동에 의한 로봇핸드의 운동 메커니즘에 관한 연구)

  • In recent year, as the robot technology is developed, the researches on the artificial muscle actuator that enables robot to move dexterously like biological organ become active. Actuators are key technologies underpinning robotics. Breakthroughs in actuator technology, particular in terms of power-to-weight ratio, or energy-density, will have significant impacts upon the design and control of robotic system. In this paper, a new approach to design and control of shape memory alloy(SMA) actuator is presented to drive the robot hand. SMA wire is divided into many segments and their thermal states of the SMA are controlled individually in a binary manner. This control manner will reduce the hysteresis that the SMA material has and it becomes the fundamental technology to develop the anthropomorphic robot hand. In this paper, the mechanism In the digital step motor of the shape memory alloy that is driven by the segmented binary control, which is a new control technique, is studied. This SMA digital step actuator applies for the robot hand and the driving mechanism of the robot hand is investigated.

An Development of Leakage Current Sensing Module of the System on Chip Type Under Consideration of Electromagnetic Interface in Power Trunk Line (전력간선에서의 전자파 장애를 고려한 원칩형 누설전류 원격 검출단말기의 개발)

  • In this paper, leakage current sensing module of SoC(System on Chip)type and real time monitoring system under consideration of electromagnetic interface in power trunk line are developed. The first, leakage current sensing module of SoC type under consideration of electromagnetic interface is developed, and the developed sensing module of SoC type is composed of leakage sensing part, power supply part, interface part, communication part, AD(Alternating current to Direct current)convert part and amplification part. And also the electromagnetic compatibility is evaluated by conduction and radiation of EMI(Electromagnetic Interference) for developed sensing module. The developed system can have confidence, stability and do energy saving under mixed electric circumstance of the low voltage communication device and high voltage equipment. The second, the real time remote monitoring system is developed using designed wire and wireless communication module with leakage current sensing module of SoC type. The developed real time remote monitoring system can monitor sensing state, occurrence state of leakage current and alarm for each step etc.. And the device configuration, PCB layout for leakage current sensing module of system on chip type and the experiment configuration in consideration of EMI are presented. Also the measurement results of conduction and radiation for EMI are presented.

COMBUSTION CHARACTERISTICS OF INHOMOGENEOUS METHANE-AIR MIXTURE IN A CONSTANT VOLUME COMBUSTION CHAMBER

  • A cylindrical constant-volume combustion chamber was used to investigate the flow characteristics at the spark electrode gap and the combustion characteristics of an inhomogeneous charge methane-air mixture under several parameters such as stratified pattern, initial charge pressure, ignition time and the excess air ratio of the initial charge mixture. Flow characteristics including mean velocity and turbulence intensity were analyzed by a hot-wire anemometer. The combustion pressure development, measured by a piezo-electric pressure transducer, was used to investigate the effect of initial charge pressure, excess air ratio and ignition times on combustion pressure and combustion duration. It was found that the mean velocity and turbulence intensity had the maximum value around 200-300 ms and then decreased gradually to near-zero value at 3000 ms. For the stratified patterns, the combustion rate under the rich injection (RI) condition was the fastest. Under the initial charge conditions, the second mixture was accompanied by an increase in the combustion rate, and that the higher the mass which is added in the second stage injection, the faster the combustion rate.

  • W-EDM is generally used to manufacture punches and die plates from among press mold parts. Before W-EDM was used, however, punches and die plates manufactured via mechanical processing were used to manufacture products, with the die life of the mold expiring after 2,000,000~2,300,000 products have been manufactured. When the mold manufactured through W-EDM was used, however, its service life expired only after 700,000~800,000 products have been manufactured. Since this was attributed to the deformed layer formed after using W-EDM, the surfaces before and after W-EDM was used were scanned using SEM to verify the occurrence of such layer. This study sought to come up with a method of eliminating such phenomenon.

  • Fine dust containing iron compounds is of current interests in metro subway as well as large scale industries including iron manufacturing and smelting works. This work attempts to find a new design of magnetic filter module for iron dust capture. It simulated the vertical rectangular duct with metal mesh which might promote electric fields in the duct space. A lab test using coal fly ash composed of 8.66% Fe with the most form of $Fe_3O_4$ and $Fe_2O_3$ showed capability of magnetic collection. It showed the capture efficiency with 80~93% for $PM_{2.5}$ depending on magnetic intensity. Ferromagnetic wire mesh contributed up to 50% of collection increment.

  • AC traction power supply system has adopted autotransformer (AT) feeding method. This system has an advantage as long feeding distance. However, the countermeasure for voltage drop should be considered, because load capacity grows larger and headway grows shorter in recent electric railway system. This paper proposes the improved system configuration to enhance voltage drop in ac railway system without additional power electronic device. That is to increase turn ratio between contact wire and rail of AT. By modifying turn ratio of AT at SSP or SP, collecting voltage on train will be enhanced.

  • A new single solution source MOCVD technique for the deposition of YBCO film has been developed, using a ultrasonic atomizer to feed the precursors into an evaporation zone. This method being investigated as a basis for future long wire fabrication, for example the electric power use, the magnatic applications, etc.. YBCO films were prepared on MgO(100) substrate, using mixture of Y, Ba, and Cu ${\beta}$ -diketonate chelate was dissolve in tetrahydrofuran as a solution sources. X-ray diffraction measurement indicated that the thin film grew epitaxially with the c-axis orientation perpandicular to the surface of the surface.

  • In the tungsten industry as light source material, tungsten filament which used as light source material could form after molybdenumwire which used as the center supporter for coil shape tungsten wire was removed.   • Superduplex stainless steels are important materials to the oil and gas industry, especially for off-shore production. TIG welding of super duplex stainless steels to obtain the optimal phase balance between austenite and ferrite is mainly achieved by controlling the cooling rate and the weld chemistry. The latter depends on the filler wire chosen and the shielding gas used. If TIG welding of superduplex stainless steels is performed with argon shielding gas only, then nitrogen gets lost from the weld pool, which can result in a ferrite-rich weld metal, with an inferior corrosion resistance than parent metal. In the present study, nitrogen permeation model from the shield gas which gets into the weld metal in DCEN-TIG welding has suggested. This plasma stream model shows characteristics of permeation of nitrogen ions into the molten metal due to the strong physical effect of plasma stream which formed by the arc pressure rather than the permeation of nitrogen ions caused by electric effect.

  • The Korean electric railway is growing rapidly such as speed of 300km/h in high speed section and 230km/h in the conventional railway section. But, power supply failure occurs because of loss of contact, defective catenary system and high speed vehicle. Therefore preventive maintenance way based reliability has been applied. Typical example is the facility inspection method using trolley inspection system. But it is required differentiated inspection method to prevent problem such as inspection errors. In this paper, a study on the trolley sliding condition inspection system using monitoring techniques is performed for performance enhancement of inspection system. It proposed the efficient maintenance method through monitoring the deviation and height of contact wire after installing inspection system on the top of train which operates in the metropolitan area. Inspection errors were decreased by virtually monitoring the video of faulty facilities. Also those facilities were identified through the impact sound analysis and tests at the main catenary section.
