  • The Extra-high voltage XLPE cable is characterized by low transmission loss, large capacity, and high reliability. Conventionally, for XLPE cables of l54kV and above, aluminium sheath was used to be moisture barrier (thus preventing water tree deterioration of the insulation) and to protect cable core from physical stresses. However, as transmission capacity of the cable increases, so does the cable diameter and the corresponding aluminium sheath outer diameter and thickness. As a result, eddy-current loss in the sheath is increased, limiting the maximum current capacity of the cable itself. As an alternative to aluminium sheath, we have adopted stainless steel sheath with non-magnetic properties and a large resistivity, The new XLPE cable with stainless-steel sheath (CSZV cable) has drastically reduced eddy-current loss in the sheath.

  • In recent years, fiberoptic technology is becoming indispensable in establishing communication networks due to its low loss, high capacity and non-inductive properties. In the power industry as well, the technology is being required to cable and facility monitering, and control system. But, duct in the manhole and space in the culvert are required to fiberoptic cable that is separated from power cable. Therefore, some cable makers and R&D has been studying the composite fiber/power cables. This report introduces the outline of ABF system, construction and properties of optical composite power cable that used ABF technology.

  • When an accident is happen due to using a bad Wire Compressor, some public resentments are caused and It cause lawsuit for we. In case, we will undergo a colossal financial loss. in addition to, Guide to improve quality of operation by using the number of times of pressing and pressing pressure with cooperative private enterprise. And because of needs for Thermal, Electrical and Chemical factor analysis of connection point of sleeve, expect to try improving problems of wire presser whole our company. We expect that reduce fault and save cost by this process. Consequently, we will prevent power losing and black out due to line faults by expulsion of inferiority equipment and prevent heating and line fault. This is possible using Alarming and Auto Locking Wire Compressor that is improve on this study.

  • This paper describes the effect of an overhead ground wire in Power distribution lines of electric railways due to direct lightning strokes. Using the EMTP, the effects of an overhead ground wire and a s-horn are analyzed quantitatively. Also, the influences of the structure of electric railways and of peak value and time-to-half value of a stroke currents are evaluated. The analysis show that in installation of in overhead ground wire into a existing railway system, the induced voltage in power distribution lines of electric railways in suppressed.

  • Because the Nuclear power plant needs for the specific high stability and the confidence, it is required that cable shall be flame retardant at fire and endure to be exposed by radiation, chemical fluid, steam and high temperature at sudden accident condition and be maintained its capability on nomal operation up to 40 years as same as it's service life for Nuclear Power Plant. Consequently, In this report, we describe the terms of Environmental Qualification Test for cable and properties required for cable which developed for Nuclear Power Plant.

  • The purpose of this study was to present the method to choose the optimum machining condition for the wire EDM. This was completed by examining the ever-changing quality of the material and by improving the function of the wire electric discharge machine. Precision metal mold products and the unmanned wire electric discharge machining system were used and then applied in industrial fields. This experiment uses the wire electric discharge machine with brass wire electrode of 0.25mm. To measure the precision of the machining surface, average values are obtained from 3 samples of measures of center-line average roughness by using a third dimension gauge and a stylus surface roughness gauge.

  • Contact lines are necessary to supply electric locomotives with electric power. As most railways are gradually electrified with modernized electric cars, the demand for catenary wires and their facilities are also increased. Catenary wires made by metallic materials are generally used in the open air. They are exposed to the marine area with air-borne salt or severely polluted industrial area with much corrosive emission gases depending on the railway locations. In urban area, acid rain may cause a degradation of catenary wire system. Corrosion of catenary wires can make their actual lifetime shorter than that originally designed. Thus, the messenger wires, a kind of catenary wire system, were investigated with respect to corrosion, which include new and the used one collected at the field. They are also vibrated with some amplitude everytime the train passes through the railway. The frequent cyclic load on the wire any result in a fatigue damage, Surface damage by corrosion can make fatigue crack initiate with ease. In the present study, the fatigue life of the used wire was measured 40 to 50% shorter than that of new one in average.

  • Due to increasing demands for environment-friendly railway system, bronze wires with cadmium, which is a potential environmental hazard, have been no longer permitted as messenger wire for electric railway system. One of materials being considered as the replacements is copper-clad steel conductor(CCSC), which is currently used as contact wire for high speed operation in the Japanese shinkansen. However, there have been few studies for the application as messenger wire by the CCSC. This study deals with requirements and performances of the messenger wire stranded by the CCSC, especially for high speed electric railway. And the tentative evaluation items and methods to be specified as the Korean railway standard(KRS) are proposed.

  • Piping systems of the power generating stations have been generally protected by hydraulic and mechanical snubbers which can allow large displacements arising from temperature change while those can reduce or absorb stresses due to vibrations. However these snubbers require amounts of budget for maintenance or replacement because of the leakage, lubrication and finally short life cycle. Recently the snubbers consisted of wire rope have been proved to reduce vibrations of piping systems. While the wire rope snubbers are free of maintenance such as leakage and lubrication imported price are so high. Now it is necessary to design. manufacture and certificate these wire rope snubbers.

  • Power line communication, using 25[kV] high voltage of railway catenary, is to provide information which is real-time safety information for train operations and train workers in driving. Lots of noise were occupied in the contact wire by electrical and communication equipments. A signal attenuation was caused characteristics of the contact wire and messenger wire. For relaying communications to transmit information using the contact wire, catenary the noise and signal attenuation were investigated. And the final goal of the study was realized to transmit video information by power line communication on electric railway.
