  • This study presents an effect of number of passes in wire-cut electric discharge machining on fine blanking dies and products. Three part fine blanking dies were produced by the difference of numbers of passes discharge machining. Brake pad was produced, through the die produced like that, the objective of this study is the improvement in surface roughness of die block and punch, life extension of die block, the decrease of second fracture dimensions, the rise of productive.

Comparative Study on Electrical Discharge and Operational Characteristics of Needle and Wire-Cylinder Corona Chargers

  • The electrical discharge and operational characteristics of needle and wire-cylinder corona charger based on current measurements for positive and negative coronas were evaluated and compared. A semi-empirical method was used to determine the ion concentrations in the charging zone and at the outlet of both chargers. Results from experimental investigation revealed that magnitudes of the charging current from the wire-cylinder charger were approximately 3.5 and 2 times smaller than those from the needle charger for the positive and negative coronas, respectively. The ion number concentrations at the outlet for positive corona of both chargers were higher than fur negative corona at the same voltage. Flow and electric fields in the charging zone of both chargers were also analyzed via numerical computation. Strong electric field strength zone was identified and led to high charging and particle deposition. Effect of particle deposition on the evolution of discharge current was presented. It was shown that ions loss inside the wire-cylinder charger was higher than the needle charger The particle deposited on the corona electrodes and on the grounded cylinder caused a great reduction in charging efficiency of both chargers.

  • Surface corona discharge characteristics of a ac corona charged ferroelectric pellet barrier have been investigated experimentally. Electric charged stored on the surfaces of the ferroelectric pellets by a at corona discharge provide partial electric fields on the surfaces of the ferroelectric pellets, which could generate surface corona discharges on the ferroelectric pellets. This system utilizes both the surface discharges on the ferroelectric pellet barrier and the corona discharge between wire electrodes. As a result, in the case of the corona discharge with the ferroelectric pellet barrier, the mean corona current and ozone generation increase greatly, and the surface discharges on the ferroelectric pellets can be generated efficiently. It is also found that, the ferroelectric pellet barrier discharge reactor had better discharge characteristics for plasma generation than the wire-to-wire discharge reactor without pellets.

  • Drawing process of Al-1%Si bonding wire considering fine Si particle is analyzed in this study using FE-simulation. Al-1%Si boding wire requires electric conductivity because Al-1%Si bonding wire is used for interconnection in semiconductor device. About 1% of Si is added to Al wire for dispersion-strengthening. Distribution and shape of fine Si particle have strongly influence on the wire drawing process. In this study, therefore, the finite-element model based on the observation of wire by continuous casting is used to analyze the effect of various parameters, such as the reduction in area, the semi-die angle, the aspect ratio, the inter-particle spacing and orientation angle of the fine Si particle on wire drawing processes. The effect of each parameter on the wire drawing process is investigated from the aspect of ductility and defects of wire. From the results of the analysis, it is possible to obtain the important basic data which can be guaranteed in the fracture prevention of Al-1 %Si wire.

Numerical Analysis for Conductance Probes, for the Measurement of Liquid Film Thickness in Two-Phase Flow

  • A three-dimensional numerical tool is developed to calculate the potential distribution, electric field, and conductance for any types of conductance probes immersed in the wavy liquid film with various shapes of its free surface. The tool is validated against various analytical solutions. It is applied to find out the characteristics of the wire-wire probe, the flush-wire probe and the flush-flush probe in terms of resolution, linearity, and sensitivity. The wire-wire probe shows high resolution and excellent linearity for various film thickness, but comparably low sensitivity for low film thickness fixed. The flush-wire probe shows good linearity and high sensitivity for varying film thickness, but resolution degrading with an increase in film thickness. In order to check the applicability of the three types of probes in the real situation, the Korteweg-de Vries(KdV) two-dimensional solitary wave is simulated. The wire-wire probe is strongly affected by the installation direction of the two wires; when the wires are installed perpendicularly to the flow direction, the wire-wire probe shows large distortion of the solitary wave. In order to measure the transverse profile of waves, the wire-wire probes and the flush-wire probes are required to be separately installed 2mm and 2mm, respectively.

  • Since Korea has a small land area, it is expected to construct the conductor return type with neutral wire in the case of ${\pm}500kV$ HVDC double bipole transmission line. Therefore, in order to apply ${\pm}500kV$ HVDC double bipole transmission line with neutral wire in Korea, it is necessary to develop technology for insulation and environmental designs. In this study, radio interference, audible noise, electric field and ion current density according to the polarity arrangement were compared and assessed in the ${\pm}500kV$ HVDC double bipole transmission line with the conductor return method. And the optimum configuration of HVDC double bipole transmission line was determined from the viewpoint of electrical environment.

  • The characteristics of Bi2212 round wire was systematically studied depending on different heat treatment conditions. Initial wire was drawn after routine PIT (Powder In Tube) process. The wire was divided into 3 pieces with 10 cm in length and 2.5 mm in diameter. 3 wires were pre-heat treated separately by different heat treatment schedules, heated in air and nitrogen atmosphere and centrifugally melted. Pre-heated wires were annealed at $845^{\circ}C$ for 40 hours in oxygen atmosphere. SEM results indicate that all pre-heated wires showed highly oriented microstructure. However the wire by centrifugally melted process showed higher density and better electric properties as compared with 2 other wires pre-heated in air and nitrogen atmosphere. The critical current of a centrifugally melted wire was about 18 A in 77 K.

  • 본 논문에서는 이론적, 실험적 분석의 경험을 토대로 가공지선과 중성선을 겸용하는 실증 배전선로를 구성하고자 한다. 이를 위해 가공지선과 중성선을 겸용하는 선로를 제안하고 실증적 규모에서 가공지선과 중성선을 겸용하는 선로의 효율성을 입증하기 위해 실증 배전선로를 구성하여 운영하였으며, 선로 구조에 따른 낙뢰영향 및 중성선의 설치 위치 변경에 따른 효과를 비교 분석한다. 이에 충북 청원군 형동리 일대에 가공지선과 중성선을 겸용하는 실증 배전선로를 구성하여 운영하였으며 낙뢰카운터기를 설치하여 운영기간 동안 낙뢰 차폐효과를 분석하였다.

  • The Full-Off Fitting of Movable Bracket using conventional line have received a dynamic contact impact between contact wire and pantograph of electric rolling stock, so this impact cause a rapid vibration of foreword and back near the supporting point of movable bracket. The Full-Off Fitting on Movable Bracket in conventional line differs from that in high speed line. Now conventional line have required a speed up for new electric locomotive and electric car. In speed-up track and big impact place, the Full-Off Fitting and the dropper often get demage. We have done a study of buffering function to solve that problem in conventional line. We have find a need adopting buffer fitting. It is decrease a dynamic impact between contact wire and pantograph of electric rolling stock.
