Preliminary hydrodynamic assessments of a new hybrid wind wave energy conversion concept

  • Decarbonization and energy transition can be considered as a main concern even for the oil industry. One of the initiatives to reduce emissions under studies considers the use of renewable energy as a complimentary supply of electric energy of the production platforms. Wind energy has a higher TRL (Technology Readiness Level) than other types of energy converters and has been considered in these studies. However, other types of renewable energy have potential to be used and hybrid concepts considering wind platforms can help to push the technological development of other types of energy converters and improve their efficiency. In this article, a preliminary hydrodynamic assessment of a new concept of hybrid wind and wave energy conversion platform was performed, in order to evaluate the potential of wave power extraction. A multiple OWCs (Oscillating Water Column) WEC (Wave Energy Converter) design was adopted for the analysis and some simplifications were adopted to permit using a frequency domain approach to evaluate the mean wave power estimation for the location. Other strategies were used in the OWC design to create resonance in the sea energy range to try to maximize the potential power to be extracted, with good results.

  • In this paper, electromagnetic scattering problems by a resistive strip grating with tapered resistivity on a grounded dielectric plane according to strip width and spacing, relative permittivity and thickness of dielectric layers, and incident angles of a electric wave are analyzed by applying the Fourier-Galerkin Moment Method known as a numerical procedure. The boundary conditions are applied to obtain the unknown field coefficients and the resistive boundary condition is used for the relationship between the tangential electric field and the electric current density on the strip. The resistivity of resistive strips in this paper varies from zeroes at one edge to infinite at the other edge, then the induced surface current density on the resistive strip is expanded in a series of Jacobi polynomials of the order ${\alpha}=0.2,\;{\beta}=-0.2$ as a orthogonal polynomials. The numerical results of the geometrically normalized reflected power in this paper are compared with those for the existing perfectly conducting strip. The numerical results of the normalized reflected power for conductive strips case with zero resistivity in this paper show in good agreement with those of existing papers.

전력용변압기에서 UHF 부분방전 신호의 전파 특성 (Propagation Characteristics of Ultra High Frequency Partial Discharge Signals in Power Transformer)

  • This paper describes the characteristics of electromagnetic wave propagation in power transformer. A transformer which is similar to 154 kV single phase on-site transformer unit was provided for the purpose of the experiment. The 12 dielectric windows on the transformer enclosure to install UHF (ultra high frequency) sensors and the full scale mock ups of winding and the core were also equipped in the transformer. Every sensors to be installed to the transformer was tested and verified whether they show same characteristics or not before the experiment. A discharge gap which was used as a PD (partial discharge) source moved to several necessary locations in the transformer to simulate dielectric defects. Propagation times of electromagnetic wave signal from PD source to sensors decided by the routes of both reflection phenomenon and diffraction phenomenon were compared each other. The experimental results showed propagation route of the PD signal makes an effect on the frequency spectrum of front part of the signal and the magnitude of the signal and propagation time of the signal when the signal is captured on the sensor.

SiO$_2$의 전기 광학 효과를 이용한 고전계 측정 (Measurement of High Electric Field Using Linear Electric-Optic Effect of Crystalline SiO$_2$)

  • 본 논문에서는 광파이버 센서로써 고전계(고전압)측정의 어려움을 해결하기 위하여 지금까지 알려진 다른 전기광학 소자보다 반파장 전압이 매우 높은 SiO2를 사용하여 고전계을 계측하기 위한 새로운 방법을 제시 하였다. SiO2를 비롯한 광학소자로 구성된 센서내부, 즉 전광자 및 편광자에서의 광변조식을 Stokes Parameter와 Mueller 행렬로 유도 하였고 이를 복굴절 결정에서의 전기광학 효과를 이론적으로 해석하고 위상지연과 반파장 전압을 계산하였다. 설계 제작한 광전압 센서에 , 분압없이 최대전압 20KV까지 공급 했을때의 출력신호를 검출한 결과 오차는 3%미만으로서 매우 우수한 직선성을 얻었다. SiO2의 온도변화(-20~60$^{\circ}$C)에 따른 출력전압 변화를 실험한 결과 최대 7.5%까지 변동율이 발생하였으나 열처리 한후로는 1.0% 이내로 개선된 특성을 보였다.

  • 화석 연료의 고갈로 인해 신재생 에너지에 관한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 특히, 예측가능성이 높고 이용 가능한 양이 풍부한 파력에너지 (Wave Power Energy)에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에 사용된 동축 가속형 파력 발전장치 (Coaxial Accelerator Type Wave Power Generator)는 양방향 선형 운동을 회전력으로 변환함으로써 발전 효율을 향상시킬 수 있도록 설계되었다. 본 연구에서는 해양공학수조에서 파를 생성 한 후, 파주기 및 파고에 따른 케이스 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 연구의 결과는 주파수 응답과 관련된 이론적인 방법을 통해 검증하였으며, 전반적인 경향이 일치하는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 제작 전 설계 단계에서 파력 발전기의 전력을 예측하고 파력에너지의 효율을 개선하기 위한 매개 변수를 연구하는데 유용할 것으로 예상된다. 또한 제조업체는 본 연구의 결과를 통해 파력 발전기의 파력 에너지 효율을 예측하여 시행착오방지를 통해 개발 시간과 비용을 절감할 수 있을 것으로 기대할 수 있다.

  • Physical chemistry states that electric potential is due to Gibb's free energy from chemical reaction of the electric cell. However we have not the electromagnetic meaning of Gibb's free energy. the free energy is discovered to be a kinetic energy part of the rotating electromagnetic wave ($\pi$-ray), which is different from conventional Coulomb attraction energy and can anticipate that there is a current difference between before and after the electric load. This paper manipulates the relationship between $\pi$-rays (Gibb's free energy) and electrolysis, cell reaction and brown gas reaction.

  • Quantum graph of Sierpinski gasket type with attached leads in an electric eld is considered. We study the dependence of the transmission coecient via the wave number of the quantum particle. It has strongly resonance character. The in uence of the amplitude and the orientation of the electric eld on the coecient is investigated.

Design of the dual-buoy wave energy converter based on actual wave data of East Sea

  • A new conceptual dual-buoy Wave Energy Converter (WEC) for the enhancement of energy extraction efficiency is suggested. Based on actual wave data, the design process for the suggested WEC is conducted in such a way as to ensure that it is suitable in real sea. Actual wave data measured in Korea's East Sea (position: $36.404N^{\circ}$ and $129.274E^{\circ}$) from May 1, 2002 to March 29, 2005 were used as the input wave spectrum for the performance estimation of the dual-buoy WEC. The suggested WEC, a point absorber type, consists of two concentric floating circular cylinders (an inner and a hollow outer buoy). Multiple resonant frequencies in proposed WEC affect the Power Ttake-off (PTO) performance of the WEC. Based on the numerical results, several design strategies are proposed to further enhance the extraction efficiency, including intentional mismatching among the heave natural frequencies of dual buoys, the natural frequency of the internal fluid, and the peak frequency of the input wave spectrum.

  • 가속된 전자가 전자파의 원이다. 전자가 가속운동을 하면 그 전자에 의한 전장도 가속운동을 한다. 이 변하는 전장은 변하는 자장을 만들고 변하는 자장은 변하는 전장을 만드는 이 과정이 스스로 영구 반복된다. 이렇게 서로 연관되어 생성된 B와 E의 선들은 폐쇄된 loop들을 형성하면서 그 파원으로부터 속력 c로 멀어져 가는데 이 전장 및 자장을 전자파라 한다. 전자파의 모든 성질은 Maxwell의 식에서 수학적으로 추론된다.
