Analysis of the Power Supply System of a Maglev Train (자기부상열차의 급전시스템 검토)

  • This paper presents the comparison and analysis of the power supply system of a Maglev train and conventional electric railway. Even though all Maglev trains have batteries on their vehicles, electric power supply from the ground side is necessary for levitation, propulsion, on-board electrical equipment, battery recharging, and so on. At low speeds up to $100{\sim}150(km/h)$, the Maglev train, generally, uses a mechanical contact, a current collector as same as conventional electric railway. However, at high speeds, the Maglev train can no longer obtain power from the ground side by using a mechanical contact. Therefore, high speed Maglev trains use their own way to deliver the power to the vehicle from the ground. In this paper, the power supply systems of the german, japanese, and korean low- and high-speed Maglev trains have been reviewed.

  • In general, the braking system of high speed train has an important role for the safety of the train. To stop safely the train at its pre-decided position, it is necessary to combine properly the various brakes. Korean high speed train (HSR 350x) has adopted a combined electric and mechanic (friction) braking system. Electric brakes are consist of rheostatic brake, regenerative brake and eddy current brake and mechanical brakes are composed of disc brake, wheel disc brake and tread brake. In this paper, the measuring method that can take a measurement of the braking forces for disc brake and wheel disc brake has been suggested and we have verified that this method is valid through on-line test of HSR 350x.

Static equilibrium and linear vibration analysis of a high speed electric train system (고속전철 시스템의 정적평형 및 선형진동 해석)

  • A formulation to perform static equilibrium and linear vibration analysis is presented in this paper. The formulation employs minimum number of equations of motion which are derived by using a partial velocity matrix. The static equilibrium analysis is performed first, then the linear vibration analysis is performed at the static equilibrium position. By using the formulation presented in this paper, static equilibrium and linear vibration analysis of a high speed electric train system are performed. A single bogie system, a power car vehicle, and a train system which consists of five vehicles are analyzed, respectively. Natural frequencies and a few lowest mode shapes of the two are identified in this paper.

  • In line with the expansion of electric railway, reducing carbon emission and optimal train operation are required by economical, eco-friendly and efficient management. Most of the energy consumption in electric railway is consumed by train operation. So it is important that minimize the energy consumption in train operation. An analysis of the operation performance of the new model vehicle which in South Korea, Korail introduced shows that the energy consumption is different in line with the skill level of the engine driver. In this study, the know-how of train operation of a skilled engine driver is systematized by using artificial intelligence, and the technique which supports engine drivers with train operation was offered. As a result of applying in South Korea, the Gyeongbu line by using simulation, it confirmed that the maximum 20% can reduce the energy consumption in comparison with unskilled engine drivers in case of applying the Expert System.

  • This paper considers the problem of revising train departure time to reduce electric power consumption of mass rapid transit (MRT) railways. The motion of a train running between stations is divided into three phases: traction, coasting, and deceleration phases. The traction phase requires high electric power to operate MRT railways. In the coasting phase, the train moves stably by consuming little or no power. The deceleration phase is a braking mode and produces some electric power called regenerated brake power owing to inertia force for the train generated In the traction and coasting phases. The regenerative energy can be used by other accelerating trains within a specific range from the train and thereby the power consumptions of train can be reduced. We developed a mixed integer programming model to solve the problem. To validate the suggested model, a computational experiment was conducted using real data from Korea Metropolitan Subway.

  • There are operated the six thousand train in the interior of a country. 95% of them are possible usage of resuscitation. Especially, Among them VVVF-Inverter vehicle has a merit of the highest recycle rate. but we don't use a apt recycled energy. Although the existing recycle energy used inverter method supply with electric power, it is decided in accordance with the state of sources. So efficiency of recycled electric power is of poor quality and catenary-voltage-fluctuation be generate because of recycled electric power. and it is able to affect system of safety train service. We'll research the method of supply according to wire condition after storing recycle energy made during train's stopping relation to Advanced EMU Research. Those methods are divided SMES, Fly-Wheel and Supercapacitor, and Considering the both economical efficiency and system application, we'll develop recycle energy storage system suitable our country condition.

  • Electric locomotive is adapted to high speed driving and mass transportation due to obtaining high traction force. The electric locomotive is operated by motor blocks and traction motors. Train speed is controlled by suppling power from motor blocks to traction motors according to reference speed. Speed control of the electric locomotive is efficient by spending energy between motor blocks and traction motors. Currently, switched reluctance motors have been studied because the efficient is higher than induction motors. In this paper, model of the switched reluctance motor is presented and the PID controller is applied to the model for the speed control by using Simulink. Asymmetry converter is used for real-time control and system performance is demonstrated by simulating the speed of switched reluctance motor including PID controller.

  • An electric railway system is composed of high-tech subsystems, among which main electric equipments such as transformers, converter and traction motors are critical components determining the performance of rolling stock. We developed a measurement system for on-line test and evaluation of performances of Korean High Speed Train. The measurement system is composed of software part and hardware part. Perfect interface between multi-users is possible. A new method to measure temperature was applied to the measurement system. By using the system, measurement and evaluation for the performance of electric equipments in Korean High Speed Train was conducted during test running.

  • The neutral section was installed in order to prevent conflict with different phase angle source in electric railway catenary system. The speed of electric train reduced due to coasting operation by notch off when it passed the neutral section. And, the catenary wire was damaged and the accident might be happened because of the arc generation when the electric train passed the neutral section with notch on condition. This project has a goal to develop the automatic changeover system using by noncontactless semiconductor device in neutral section of catenary system so that the train pass as notch-on condition. In this first year, we obtain as following results such as domestic and international systems applications and completion requirements, development and analysis of stability for automatic changeover system, design of static switching device on automatic changeover system in neutral section and drawing up interface design and specifications according to equipment.

Development of Reducer for Generating Facility of Electric Power for Low Noise/vibration (소음/진동을 고려한 발전설비용 감속기 개발)

  • A dynamic model of reducer for generating facility of electric pourer having bevel gear pair and planetary gear train is developed by lumped method. The model accounts for the shaft and bearing flexibilities, gyroscopic effects and the force couplings among the transverse and torsion motions due to gearing. Vibration/noise analysis as well as strength of bevel gear pair and planetary gear train are considered. Exciting forces of high reducer for generating facility of electric power areconsidered as the mass unbalance of the rotors, misalignment and a function of gear transmission error. A Campbell diagram, in which the excitation sources caused by the mass unbalance of the rotors, misalignment and the transmitted errors of the gearing are considered, shows that, at the operating speed, there are not critical speed.
