하이브리드/전기 자동차 배터리 냉각 시스템의 냉각수 유동 특성이 냉각 성능에 미치는 영향에 대한 해석적 연구 (Effect of Coolant Flow Characteristics in Cooling Plates on the Performance of HEV/EV Battery Cooling Systems)

  • Average temperature and temperature uniformity in a battery cell are the important criteria of the thermal management of the battery pack for hybrid electric vehicles and electric vehicles (HEVs and EVs) because high power with large size cell is used for the battery pack. Thus, liquid cooling system is generally applied for the HEV/EV battery pack. The liquid cooling system is made of multiple cooling plates with coolant flow paths. The cooling plates are inserted between the battery cells to reject the heat from batteries to coolant. In this study, the cooling plate with U-shaped coolant flow paths is considered to evaluate the effects of coolant flow condition on the cooling performance of the system. The counter flow and parallel flow set up is compared and the effect of flow rate is evaluated using CFD tool (FLUENT). The number of counter-flows and flow rate are changed and the effect on the cooling performance including average temperature, differential temperature, and standard deviation of temperature are investigated. The results show that the parallel flow has better cooling performance compared with counter flow and it is also found that the coolant flow rate should be chosen with the consideration of trade-off between the cooling performance and pressure drop.

평판형 ER-Valve의 성능실험에 관한 연구 (Study on Performance Test of Plate Type ER-Valves)

  • Hydraulic valve control the pressure and the How of fluid by the hydraulic oil transfered from pump but the ER fluid consists of solid particles of micrometer in size and insulating oil so in the general hydraulic valve. We invented ER-Valve using ER fluid as working fluid. The ER fluid, working fluid of ER-Valve is a functional fluid to represent the feature of fluid according to strength of electric field. In this research we made our own 4 types of plate type ER-Valve which has same surface but different width and length and then we conducted performance test. We measured flow rate and pressure drop of fluid which is flowing in the ER-Valve according to the electric field strength to conduct this test. We modeling ER-Valve relating to ER-Valve system and yield shear stress according to the strength of electric field. We used the pressure drop according to the strength of electric field by differential pressure gauge in the our own made ER-Valve. This test reviewed experimental the special changes of ER-Fluid in the steady flow condition.

Prepyrolysis Structural Relaxation of Coal Studied by Differential Scanning Calorimetry and Solvent Swelling

  • Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and solvent swelling technique have been applied for identifying physical transition temperatures in the macromolecular structure of coals. The transition processes seem to be associated with physical relaxation of the coal structure and are irreversible processes. In Pittsburgh No. 8 high volatile bituminous (hvb) coat one physical transition was noted at 250-30$0^{\circ}C$ (at 8$^{\circ}C$/min) without any significant accompanying weight loss. Coals of higher rank than high volatile bituminous, i.e., Upper Freeport medium volatile bituminous (mvb) and Pocahontas No.3 low volatile bituminous (lvb) coals, exhibit structural relaxation just before the major thermal decomposition process and a sharp increase in solvent swellability accompanies this relaxation. In the case of both the Pittsburgh No.8 and the Upper Freeport coat structural relaxations at around 36$0^{\circ}C$ seem to coincide with release of "guest molecules".les".uot;.

열경화성수지 복합재료의 경화정도의 측정에 관한 연구 (Measurement of the Degree of Cure of Thermosetting Resin Matrix Composite Materials)

  • In this study, a dielectric cure monitoring system which consists of an electric circuit, a sensor and a personal computer was developed to on-line monitor the dielectric properties of carbon fiber epoxy composite materials. Also, the kinetic model of carbon fiber epoxy composite materials was developed by curve fitting of differential scanning calorimetry data. The start and end points of cure and the relationship between the dissipation factor and the degree of cure were obtained by comparing the dissipation factor from the dielectric properties with the degree of cure from the DSC data. The relationship between the dissipation factor and the degree of cure was tested under various temperature profiles.

전기철도차량 경제운전 모형 개발 (Development of Economical Run Model for Electric Railway Vehicle)

  • The Optimization has been performed to search an economical running pattern in the view point of trip time and energy consumption. Fuzzy control model have been applied to build the meta-model. To identify the structure and its parameters of a fuzzy model, fuzzy c-means clustering method and differential evolutionary scheme are utilized, respectively. As a result, two meta-models for trip time and energy consumption were constructed. The optimization to search an economical running pattern was achieved by differential evolutionary scheme. The result shows that the proposed methodology is very efficient and conveniently applicable to the operation of railway system.

전기장을 이용한 물체의 거리 측정 연구 (Estimating Distance of a Target Object from the Background Objects with Electric Image)

  • 전기장은 수중에서의 주변 환경 인지, 물체 확인 과정에 사용 될 수 있다. 약한 전기장을 발생시키는 전기물고기는 전기장을 발생시켜 그 왜곡을 감지함으로써 주위 상황을 인지하고 먹이를 찾는 "능동 센싱"에 특화되어 있다. 이러한 "능동 센싱"과정은 전기물고기가 어두운 바다 속에서 시각적인 정보 없이도 먹이를 찾고 주변 환경을 탐지할 수 있게 해준다. 전기물고기는 몸 전체에 전기수용기를 가지고 있다. 수많은 전기수용기를 통해 읽어지는 센서 값은 '전기장 이미지', 즉 시각적인 이미지가 아닌 전기장의 변화를 반영하는 물리적 이미지로 표현된다. 많은 사람들이 전기물고기가 시각 정보 없이도 전기장 이미지를 통해 어떻게 상황을 인지할 수 있는지 연구해 왔다. 많은 연구를 통해 전기장 이미지의 최대값, 기울기, 넓이, 피크의 위치 등이 목표 물체를 찾기 위한 단서로 사용될 수 있다는 사실이 이미 알려져 있다. 이 논문에서는 전기물고기의 전기장 이미지를 바탕으로 목표 물체 이외에 배경으로 생각할 수 있는 다른 물체가 있는 좀 더 복잡한 환경에서, 전기장 센서를 통해 목표 물체를 배경으로부터 분리하고 인지할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 이러한 복잡한 상황에서의 물체 인지 과정은 수중로봇의 물체인식에 활용될 수 있다.

휠 모터 구동 전기 버스의 차량 안정성 및 주행 성능을 고려한 통합 제어 로직 개발 (Development of Integrated Control Logic of Wheel Motor Drive Electric Bus considering Stability and Driving Performance)

  • Recently, many types of electric vehicles including a heavy duty vehicle have been developed and released because of the better fuel economy and less gas products. In this study, research about an electric bus which utilizes the wheel motor drive system was conducted. The wheel motor is a motor connected to the wheel directly only with a simple gear so that the developer can utilize the space efficiently and the whole system efficiency will be better because of simple structure. However, because it is different from former types of vehicles which use the differential gear, the development of the integrated control logic is required in order to meet the vehicle stability and driving performance. The developed control logic is composed with direct yaw moment control, regenerative braking control and slip control logics. It is compared to the control logics which does not consist of direct yaw moment control and slip control when the vehicle is exposed in tough situations. For the unification of the control logic, a few maps were developed and applied to determine the output torque of each motor according to the driving status. As a result, it is shown that the developed control logic is more safe and well follow the target speed than the other control logic applied simulations.

전지자동차용 전자식 차동 시스템의 신경망 모델 (A Neural Network Model of Electric Differential System for Electric Vehicle)

  • 본 연구에서는 전기자동차에 사용되는 전자식 차동 시스템의 신경망 모델을 제안한다. 차량이 곡선도로를 따라 주행할 경우 내측 바퀴와 외측 바퀴의 회전속도가 서로 달라야 진동이나 뒤틀림 없이 완만한 선회 주행을 할 수 있다. 전기자동차는 그 구조적 특성상 각각의 바퀴가 독립된 구동원을 갖는다. 이 때문에 일반 엔진 차량의 기어식 차동장치를 대신할 전자식 차동장치가 요구된다. 이러한 차동장치는 차량의 구조뿐만 아니라 차량의 주요 파라미터인 조향각 및 속도에 따라서 비선형적인 관계를 가지고 있어서 해석하기가 쉽지 않다. 따라서 이와 같은 비선형적인 관계 모델을 학습 능력을 가진 신경망에 의하여 모델링 함으로써 제어에 적용할 수 있다. 이를 실현하기 위해 제작한 전기자동차로 곡선도로를 주행하여 다양한 곡률과 주행속도에 따른 내측 외측 바퀴의 회전속도 데이터를 획득하고, 데이터의 비선형 특성을 고려한 차동 속도 제어기의 구조를 설계한다. 이 제어기에 적합한 모델은 신경망을 이용하여 실측 데이터를 학습시킴으로써 차동기능을 수행할 수 있는 제어기를 구현한다.

  • A Walsh function method is proposed in this report for the analysis and optimal control of linear time-delay systems, which is based on the Picard's iterative approximation and fast Walsh transformation. In this research, the following results are obtained: 1) The differential and integral equation can be solved by transforming into a simple algebraic equation as it was possible with the usual orthogonal function method: 2) General orthogonal function methods require usage of Walsh operational matrices for delay or advance and many calculations of inverse matrices, which are not necessary in this method. Thus, the control problems of linear time-delay systems can be solved much faster and readily.

75 kW 용융탄산염 연료전지 (MCFC) 스택 내 압력 손실 해석 (Pressure Loss Analysis of the 75 kW MCFC Stack with Internal Manifold Separator)

  • To obtain the data of the pressure loss and differential pressure at the inside of the stack that was composed of 126 cells with 7,500 cm2 electrode area, 75kW molten carbonate fuel cell system has been operated. Computational fluid dynamics was applied to estimate reactions and thermal fluid behavior inside of the stack that was adopted with internal manifold type separator. The pressure loss coefficient K showed 72.29 to 84.01 in anode and 6.34 to 8.75 in cathode at low part of cells at the inside of 75 kW MCFC stack respectively. Meanwhile, the pressure loss coefficient of the higher part of cells at the interior of the stack showed 15.36 and 56.44 in anode and cathode respectively. These results mean that there is no big total pressure difference between anode and cathode at the inner part of 75 kW MCFC stack. This result will be reflected in 250kW MCFC system design.
