  • In this paper, we have the investigated the Influence of Filler Shape on Dielectric & Electric Charge-Discharge Properties of Filled Epoxy Resin. In the low frequency range from 50Hz to a few kHz, the magnitude of tan$\delta$ become larger in the order, NON, RAS, SAS, SCS. The electrical Discharge of RAS measured for 60 min, decreased after 10$^2$∼10$^3$.

  • A fully coupled finite element analysis (FEA) technique was developed for analyzing the discharge phenomena and dielectric liquid flow while considering surface charge density effects in dielectric flow guidance. In addition, the simulated speed of surface charge propagation was compared and verified with the experimental results shown in the literature. Recently, electrohydrodynamics (EHD) techniques have been widely applied to enhance the cooling performance of electromagnetic systems by utilizing gaseous or liquid media. The main advantage of EHD techniques is the non-contact and low-noise nature of smart control using an electric field. In some cases, flow can be achieved using only a main electric field source. The driving sources in EHD flow are ionization in the breakdown region and ionic dissociation in the sub-breakdown region. Dielectric guidance can be used to enhance the speed of discharge propagation and fluidic flow along the direction of the electric field. To analyze this EHD phenomenon, in this study, the fully coupled FEA was composed of Poisson's equation for an electric field, charge continuity equations in the form of the Nernst-Planck equation for ions, and the Navier-Stokes equation for an incompressible fluidic flow. To develop a generalized numerical technique for various EHD phenomena that considers fluidic flow effects including dielectric flow guidance, we examined the surface charge accumulation on a dielectric surface and ionization, dissociation, and recombination effects.

  • While the reliability of bulk insulation has become important particularly in multilayer boards and embedded boards, electronics are to be used under various environments such as at high temperature and in high humidity. We observed internal space charge behavior for two types of epoxy composites under dc electric fields to investigate the influence of water at high temperature. In the case of glass/epoxy specimen, homocharge is observed at water-treated specimen, and spatial oscillations become clearer in the water-treated specimens. Electric field in the vicinity of the electrodes shows the injection of homocharge. In aramid/epoxy specimens, heterocharge is observed at water-treated specimens, i.e. negative charge accumulates near the anode, while positive charge accumulates near the cathode. Electric field is enhanced just before each electrode. In order to further examine the mechanism of space charge formation, we have developed a new system that allows in situ space charge observation during ion migration tests at high temperature and high humidity. Development of Charge Indicator Inspection System for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV용 Charge Indicator 시험기 개발)

  • In this work, we have developed a test system to examine whether the charge indicator of the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) works properly or not. In PHEV, the driver should charge the necessary electricity by plugging in manually and be able to know the charging status through the charge indicator conveniently located for the charging individual. Our system used the CAN bus to transmit the same commands from ECU to the indicator to test the proper operation of the indicator lights. It measured the electric current values during operation and analyzed to determine the quality of the indicators. The inspection items included the proper packaging, the electrical shorts, the LED lighting during charging, the LED lighting for charging failure, and the LED lighting when errors occur. We developed the system for the operators in the factory allowing them to approve the test results at the site. We developed the hardware, the control software, and the software to store the test results and the history of the products in the database. Serial numbers were given to the good quality products and the bar code labels were printed to trace the products afterwards. Through this work, we developed a system to inspect the electric parts in real time upon fabrication. We are planning to further improve our system to inspect the brightness of the indicator by adding the vision inspection in future.

  • In this paper, We examine that characteristics of formative electret with polymer film and electric charge storage using grid corona discharge. compound polymer of fluorine resin used for material in electret because of high electric charge accumulation, excellent electrical and physical characteristic. All experiments were carried out with circular samples of $Teflon^(R)FEP$ film, 12.5[${\mu}m$] thick. As experiment variables, we used voltage, electrode thickness, discharge electrode gap, and discharge time. According to this variables, we studied on characteristics of formative electret and electric charge storage. Additionally we make a comparative study of the result between the grid corona discharge and needle electrode discharge.

  • In-plane piezoelectric charge constant of Electro-Active paper (EAPap) was investigated based on direct and converse piezoelectric effects. EAPap samples were made with cellulose film with very thin gold electrode coated on both sides of the film. To characterize direct piezoelectricity of EAPap, induced charge was measured when mechanical stress was applied to EAPap. In-plane piezoelectric charge constant was extracted from the relation between induced charge and applied in-plane normal stress. To investigate converse piezoelectricity, induced in-plane strain was measured when electric field was applied to EAPap. Piezoelectric charge constant was also extracted from the relation of induced in-plane strain and applied electric field. Piezoelectric charge constants obtained from direct and converse piezoelectricity are 31 pC/N and 178 x 10-12m/V for 45 degree sample, respectively. Measured piezoelectric charge constants of EAPap provide promising potential as a piezoelectric material.

  • This paper describes methodologies to charge for power transmission network use. These methodologies are normally divided into two categories such as marginal cost method and embedded cost allocation method. This paper, first, discusses the possible problems that can occur when the marginal cost method is applied to pricing the transmission services. Next, the paper proposes a method to apply the electricity tracing method to the transmission network charge. The result of the electricity tracing method is then used in MW-mile method to charge individual loads for the use of transmission network. Effectiveness of the algorithm is verified by computer simulations and it is estimated that the results can be used to compute the cost of electric power transmission under deregulated environment in electric power industries.

  • Industrial electrostatic precipitation is a very complex process, which involves multiple-way interaction between the electric field, the fluid flow, and the particulate motion. This paper describes a strongly coupled calculation procedure for the rigorous computation of particle dynamics during electrostatic precipitation. The turbulent gas flow and the particle motion under electrostatic forces are calculated by using the commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) package FLUENT linked to a finite-volume solver for the electric field and ion charge. Particle charge is determined from both local electrical conditions and the cell residence time which the particle has experienced through its path. Particle charge density and the particle velocity are averaged in a control volume to use Lagrangian information of the particle motion in calculating the gas and electric fields. The turbulent particulate transport and the effects of particulate space charge on the electrical current flow are investigated. The calculated results for poly-dispersed particles are compared with those for mono-dispersed particles, and significant differences are demonstrated.

  • This paper deals with a surface charge simulation method of calculating three-dimensional electric fields and capacitance. The principle is to divide the electrode surface into rectangular or triangular elements of which charge density is the linear function of the electrode coordinate and to formulate a linear equation for the coefficients of charge density function and to determine those coefficients by boundary conditions. It has been shown that the method can give satisfactory results for thin rectangular plates where the other methods is difficult to be applied.

  • Fundamental Electric vehicle charge system is urgently needed for commercialization of electric vehicles. Car parking building is equipped with PV system for providing electricity to charge electric vehicles, because it must be charged at least for 30 minutes. In parking lots abroad, electric car charging stations are installed to charge electric cars by the electricity gained from PV systems which are also installed. Also, charge infrastructure construction plans and electric car charging facility support standards are being set and proposed, but there are no cases like abroad of electric car charging stations using PV systems and only electric car charging stations using ordinary electricity are being proposed. Therefore, this paper prepares establishment of domestic electric car charging networks. By researching inside outside solar parking lots and cases of abroad PV system electric car charging stations, and by analysis and comparative analysis of structural systems, structural material, and etc., many cantilever structure and small-size types were installed in PV system electric car charging stations.
