  • Digital image and video libraries require new algorithms for the automated extraction and indexing of salient image features. Eigen values of an image provide one important cue for the discrimination of image content. In this paper we propose a new approach for automated content extraction that allows efficient database searching using eigen values. The algorithm automatically extracts eigen values from the image matrix represented by the covariance matrix for the image. We demonstrate that the eigen values representing shape information and the skewness of its distribution representing complexity provide good performance in image query response time while providing effective discriminability. We present the eigen value extraction and indexing techniques. We test the proposed algorithm of searching by eigen value and its skewness on a database of 100 images.

  • In the present work, a microelogated thermoelastic model based on Lord-Shulman (1967) and Green-Lindsay (1972) theories of thermoelasticity has been constructed. The governing equations for the simulated model are converted into two-dimensional case and made dimensionless for further simplification. Laplace and Hankel transforms followed by eigen value approach has been employed to solve the problem. The use of eigen value approach hasthe advantage of finding the solution of governing equationsin matrix form notations. This approach is straight forward and convenient for numerical computation and avoids the complicate nature of the problem. The components of displacement, stress and temperature distribution are obtained in the transformed domain. Numerical inversion techniques have been used to invert the resulting quantities in the physical domain. Graphical representation of the resulting quantities for describing the effect of microelongation are presented. A special case is also deduced from the present investigation. The problem find application in many engineering problems like thick-walled pressure vesselsuch as a nuclear containment vessel, a cylindricalroller etc.

  • The effect of relaxation times is studied on plane waves propagating through semiconductor half-space medium by using the eigen value approach. The bounding surface of the half-space is subjected to a heat flux with an exponentially decaying pulse and taken to be traction free. Solution of the field variables are obtained in the form of series for a general semiconductor medium. For numerical values, Silicon is considered as a semiconducting material. The results are represented graphically to assess the influences of the thermal relaxations times on the plasma, thermal, and elastic waves.

  • The quantification analysis problem is that how the m entities that have n characteristics can be linked to p-dimension space to reflect the similarity of each entity In this paper, the optimization approach for the quantification analysis problem using neural networks is suggested, and the performance is analyzed The computation of average variation volume by mean field theory that is analytical approximated mobility of a molecule system and the annealed mean field neural network approach are applied in this paper for solving the quantification analysis problem. As a result, the suggested approach by a mean field annealing neural network can obtain more optimal solution than the eigen value analysis approach in processing costs.

  • This paper presents the induced mathematical modeling equations for evaluating the operation stability with automatic transmission of heavy duty vehicle. This theoretical approach indicates that linearized governing equations of system can be converted into eigen-value problems. if the eigen-value has positive number, we can predict the engine operating point locates an unstable operating region. To be a stable state, the unstable operating point diverges toward a stable point which is able to maintain uniform velocity. Based on the previous theoretical analysis, we carry out dynamic simulation to show the behavior of engine operating point and torque converter in transient state. As a result of the dynamic simulation, the suggested theoretical method is found to be reasonable for evaluating the operation stability of a torque converter. In addition, the numerical results explain the engine stops and fluctuating phenomenon in reality.

  • This paper is devoted to two new techniques for free vibration analysis of concrete arch dam-reservoir systems. The proposed schemes are quadratic ideal-coupled eigen-problems, which can solve the originally non-symmetric eigen-problem of the system. To find the natural frequencies and mode shapes, a new special-purpose eigen-value solution routine is developed. Moreover, the accuracy of the proposed approach is thoroughly assessed, and it is confirmed that the new scheme is very accurate under all practical conditions. It is also concluded that both decoupled and ideal-coupled strategy proposed in the previous works can be considered as special cases of the current more general procedure.

  • This paper is to introduce an application of face recognition algorithm in parallel. We have experiments of 25 images with different motions and simulated the image recognitions; grouping of the image vectors, image normalization, calculating average image vectors, etc. We also discuss an analysis of the related eigen-image vectors and a parallel algorithm. To develop the parallel algorithm, we propose a new type of initial matrices for eigenvalue problem. If A is a symmetric matrix, initial matrices for eigen value problem are investigated: the "optimal" one, which minimize ${\parallel}C-A{\parallel}_F$ and the "super optimal", which minimize ${\parallel}I-C^{-1}A{\parallel}_F$. In this paper, we present a general new approach to the design of an initial matrices to solving eigenvalue problem based on the new optimal investigating C with preserving the characteristic of the given matrix A. Fast all resulting can be inverted via fast transform algorithms with O(N log N) operations.

  • In present study, the nonlocal Flügge shell model based is utilized to investigate the vibration characteristics of armchair and chiral single-walled carbon nanotubes with impact of small-scale effect subjected to two boundary supports. The wave propagation approach is employed to determine eigen frequencies for armchair and chiral tubes. The fundamental frequencies scrutinized with assorted aspect ratios by varying the bending rigidity. The raised in value of nonlocal parameter reduces the corresponding fundamental frequency. It is investigated with higher aspect ratio, the boundary conditions have a momentous influence on vibration of CNT. It is concluded that frequencies would increase by increasing of the bending rigidity. Solutions of the frequency equation have determined by writing in MATLAB coding.

  • This research deals with the study of vibrational behavior of armchair and zigzag single-walled carbon nanotubes invoking extended Love shell theory. The effects of different physical and material parameters on the fundamental frequencies are investigated. By using volume fraction for power law index, the fundamental natural frequency spectra for two forms of single-walled carbon nanotubes are calculated. The influence of frequencies against length-to-diameter ratios with varying power law index are investigated in detail for these tubes. To discretize the governing equation in eigen-value form, wave propagation approach is developed. Complex exponential functions have been used and the axial model depends on boundary condition that has been described at the edges of carbon nanotubes to calculate the axial modal dependence. Computer software MATLAB is utilized for the frequencies of single-walled carbon nanotubes and current results shows a good stability with comparison of other studies.

  • In this paper, frequency vibrations of double-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) has been investigated based upon nonlocal elastic theory. The inference of small scale is being perceived by establishing nonlocal Love shell model. The wave propagation approach has been operated to frame the governing equations as eigen value system. An innovational nonlocal model to examine the scale effect on vibrational behavior of armchair, zigzag and chiral of double-walled CNTs. An appropriate selection of material properties and nonlocal parameter has been considered. The influence of dimensionless nonlocal parameter has been studied in detail. The dominance of end condition via nonlocal parameter is explained graphically. The results generated furnish the evidence regarding applicability of nonlocal shell model and also verified by earlier published literature.
