  • This study was conducted with male/female teenagers to examine the interaction between their attachment to social media and their self-identity in both real space and cyberspace. Among the subjects, male teenagers tended to use social media more than female teenagers. Also, the more friends/followers they have, the more they would use the service itself. In the subordinate correlation of the subjects' self-identity in both cyberspace and real space, most areas showed positive correlation. And each subregion of the areas of real-space ego-identity and social media addiction showed positive correlation with them as well. On the other hand, in areas of social media addiction and cyberspace ego-identity, all areas showed negative correlation except the area of dominance. Through this experiment, it was proven apparent that there needs to be proper management of teenagers that are overusing and are addicted to social media, and that programs should be developed to mediate the subjects in regards to each subregion of real space and cyberspace ego-identity.

  • The purposes of this study were to examine how the nested social systems affect the identity development of the local university students, and to explore how they integrate externally imposed identities and internally defined ideas of ego. From the protocol writings and personal face-to-face interviews with 87 local university students, the present study found that the participants tended to identify themselves as a university student rather than a 'local' university student. They were aware of the social prejudices against local university students. Some participants resisted the stereotypes imposed by the media, which they perceived as overly simplistic and biased labeling, while others accepted those with feelings of frustration, inferiority, and sadness. However, they kept making efforts to overcome social prejudices by means of their affection for the local community. The study highlighted that individual identities were constructed in the systems which the individuals belonged to.

  • This study aims to compare ego-centered journal citation identities among four domestic journals in library and information science. Ego-centered citation identity refers to the set of authors that an author frequently cites. The target journals for this study are Journal of the Korean Society for Library and Information Science (KSLIS), Journal of the Korean Biblia Society for Library and Information Science (KBIBLIA), Journal of Korean Library and Information Science Society (KLISS), and Journal of the Korean Society for Information Management (KOSIM). As a result of citation/citee ratio (CCR), self-citing rates (SCR), and journal co-cited analysis, the journal citation identities of four journals contained the other three journals besides the ego journal and JASIST. Furthermore, KOSIM had the most diverse range of journal citation identity and the four journals mattered the intra-journal information. KLISS showed the most unique cited journal network structure among the four journals.
