  • Psychiatric nursing is a specialty where nursing students experience many difficulties in applying what they have learned in theory to clinical practice. Therefore, a situation-oriented case-based strategy is required to help them overcome the limitations of psychiatric nursing clinical practice and reduce their burden. This study aimed to measure the effectiveness of a psychiatric nursing clinical practice program using situation-oriented case-based learning. Participants comprised 63 nursing students in psychiatric nursing classes. The students were asked to create a scenario of interaction between a nurse and patient based on a case study. Empathy, therapeutic communication ability, and attitudes toward mental illnesses were measured. We analyzed the effectiveness of the program by comparing changes in the nursing students' empathy, therapeutic communication ability, and attitude toward mental illness after the program. The participants showed significant increases in empathy and therapeutic communication abilities. However, there were no significant changes in attitudes toward mental illnesses. Based on the results of this study, it is expected that situation-based learning will be effective for students who have difficulties in certain aspects, such as COVID-19, or where there are limited clinical practice opportunities, such as psychiatric nursing.

Especially, due to the company's strategy.

The program has been developed based on five steps of the teaching-learning design model developed by Chung, In-Sung which is widely used in Web-Based Instruction(WBI). The objective of this study was to develop nursing education program on WEI and to evaluate its effectiveness. The subjects consisted of twenty-four senior nursing students taking the Nursing Management Practice course. Two sets of questionnaires were used for this study. They were asked to evaluate the program in terms of appropriateness of the teaching strategy, precision of the contents, easiness of use, easiness of approaching system, interface design, system management, enhancement of communication, and effectiveness of learning. The program was developed in five steps, analysis of the student, design of the contents, production of the system, implementation of the system, and evaluation of the effectiveness. It is concluded that this program was very useful in increasing the effectiveness of learning and motivation in the students. In addition to this, the web-based learning system would be one of the best qualified educational method for nursing students. Therefore, I would suggest that it can be used for other nursing courses which is available on the Web.

  • In this study, the effect of field practice on the career exploration of college students was analyzed and the effect of adjusting the psychological variable, enterprising, was tested. To this end, the survey was conducted on university students who participated in the field practice. An analysis of 193 data showed that the effectiveness of field practice and the suitability of field practice companies were factors that increased the ability of college students to explore their career path. In addition, individual initiative was analyzed as a parameter, which strengthens the effectiveness of the practice and the suitability of the practical company on the ability of the career exploration. Universities should find quality practice companies and maintain the right field practice, and need to come up with pre-education programs that can improve career-related psychological capabilities.

  • Many agile practices have been suggested for software development flexible enough to adapt to a rapidly changing environment. However, too many agile practices hinder computer engineers from deciding which agile practices are suitable for a given project. They need guidelines of the benefits an agile practice provides for a project, and how many of its benefits are effective. Therefore, this study investigates IT experts' perspectives on each agile practice's effectiveness in their projects using a repertory grid technique. Based on an analysis of data collected from 23 Korean IT experts about 33 agile projects, we elicit 361 cognitive effects categorized into 30 benefits using content analysis. Next, we identify agile practices that are primarily used and recognized as positive and further examine what benefits many agile practices usually bring. Finally, we evaluate the level of benefits overall that each agile practice provides.

  • The prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is increasing in Korea, and physicians, including surgeons, have been focusing on its treatment. Indeed, in Korea, medical treatment using a proton pump inhibitor is the mainstream treatment for GERD, while awareness of surgical treatment is limited. Accordingly, to promote the understanding of surgical treatment for GERD, the Korean Anti-Reflux Surgery Study Group published the Evidence-Based Practice Guideline for the Surgical Treatment of GERD. The guideline consists of 2 sections: fundamental information such as the definition, symptoms, and diagnostic tools of GERD and a recommendation statement about its surgical treatment. The recommendations presented 5 debates regarding fundoplication: 1) comparison of the effectiveness of medical and surgical treatments, 2) effectiveness of surgical treatment in cases of refractory GERD, 3) effectiveness of surgical treatment of extraesophageal symptoms, 4) comparison of effectiveness between total and partial fundoplication, and 5) effectiveness of fundoplication in cases of hiatal hernia. The present guideline is the first to demonstrate the efficacy of the surgical treatment GERD in Korea.

  • Today, quality management is appearing as a critical issue in the field of health care service, partly because of increasing cost of health care. And qualified health care is also accepted as the right of clients, and the responsibility of health professions. So nursing profession can survive and develop only through the quality management of nursing practice like other health professions. Recently, Consumers of nursing service require the effectiveness and the efficiency of nursing practice. Effectiveness and efficiency of nursing practice can be accomplished by outcome evaluation. The focus of outcome evaluation in nurisng practice is on the change which occures in patient's health status with nurisng intervention. Evaluation of outcome is difficult because of some related problems which should be solved, or managed. These problems could be classified as problems of measurement, and attribution. To solve the problems and to evaluate the outcome in nursing practice more accurately, following tasks were suggested. 1) Outcome indicators, and outcome measurement tools should be developed. For these purpose, outcome variables that nursing interventions can contribute primarily should be found out. Also, outcome variables which are driven from nursing theories should be developed. 2) Outcome researches which can explain the effect of nursing care to patient outcomes should be performed. The outcome researches are the methods which can increase the power of nursing profession. 3) Models which can be used for the systematic and scientific quality management in nursing practice should be developed. The models should include outcome variables, and be able to explain the relationship between structure, process, and outcome aspects of quality management. 4) The method which can make patients participate in the evaluation process of quality of nursing practice should be devised. Because outcome evaluation is client-focused evaluation, the perspectives of patients should be emphasized, and reflected in the process of evaluation.
