  • In preparing for future education, the need for software education is increasing. In addition to the content of operation, the assessment portion issues have emerged as an important area in software education. In this study, we wanted to look at the effectiveness of the learner-led assessment in software education through literature research and consider what this suggests to the schooling. According to a study conducted on software education for elementary school students, the student-led assessment showed significant effects on the improvement of students' creativity, problem solving, information literacy, and increased interests in software education. Further research efforts are requested to help the schooling prepare for future education through student-led software assessment.

  • In future education, the paradigm of education is changing due to changes in learner-led and assessment methods. In addition, AI-based learning infrastructure and software education are increasingly needed. Thus, this study aims to examine the effectiveness of AI-based evaluation in future education by combining it with learner-led assessment. Using AI education and evaluation literature and Step 7 of the Learner-Driven Software Assessment Method, we sought to extract evaluation elements tailored to elementary school level in conjunction with the 2015 revised elementary practical course content elements, software understanding, procedural problem solving, and structural evaluation elements. In the future, we will develop a grading system that applies AI-based learner-led evaluation elements in software education and continuously demonstrate its effectiveness, and help the school site prepare for future education independently through AI-based learner-led assessment in software education.

  • Purpose: The web based KRAS risk assessment support system to facilitate risk assessment in small businesses and provides an assessment model for each type of business. In order to help understand risk assessment, private institutions have opened and operated training in charge of risk assessment. It will present the effectiveness of education in charge of risk assessment and measures to improve and revitalize it accordingly. Method: Using SPSS 22 for 670 workplaces that completed risk assessment personnel training within 5 years from 2017 to 2021, the disaster rate was analyzed through correlation analysis and t-test by dividing groups of less than 100 people into groups of 100 people. Result: Hypothesis 1-5 are adopted and reject 5-8. Conclusion: It is possible to consider the organization of a curriculum according to the size of a company for corporate education with more than 100 employees and to enhance the benefits of recognizing risk assessment.

  • Environmental specimen bank (ESB) is a new tool to assess ecosystem in environmental impact assessment (EIA). ESB looks at changes in the concentration of pollutants in human and environmental specimens over long periods of time through retrospective analysis of archived samples. Korea started to design its National Environmental Specimen Bank (NESB) in 2007 and planned to launch an operational pilot project by 2010. NESB prepares five Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of shoots of Red and Korean pine, leaves of Mongolian oak, Pigeon's egg, and Common carp's muscle out of 14 planned specimens in 2009. ESB contributes to monitoring the effectiveness of EIA projects and policies by providing a time capsule through ecosystem assessment of representative species. This study reviews ecosystem assessment in EIA and the ESB establishment in Korea and probes NESB applications in ecosystem assessment.

  • Purpose: Nowadays, the risk assessment system is widely used in many industrial and public areas to reduce the possible risks. The system is used to determine the priorities of the government quality assurance works in Defense Agency for Technology and Quality. However, as the risk assessment system is used for other purposes, there are some items that need improvement, and in this study, we propose improvement plans by benchmarking the risk assessment systems of other institutions. Methods: In this paper, first, the procedures of risk assessment system used in many industrial sites were reviewed, and how each institution specialized and applied the system. Afterwards, by benchmarking various risk assessment systems, an improvement plan on how to operate the risk assessment system in the case of government quality assurance for centrally procured military supplies was presented, and practical application cases were presented to prove the usefulness of the improvement plan. Results: The proposed risk assessment system differs from the existing system in five major aspects. First, inputs, outputs, and key performance indicators were specified from the systematic point of view. Second, risk analysis was analyzed in four dimensions: probability of occurrence, impact, detection difficulty. Third, risk mitigation measures were classified, control, transfer, and sharing. Fourth, the risk mitigation measures were realized through document verification, product verification, process verification, and quality system evaluation. Finally, risk mitigation measures were implemented and the effectiveness of the risk mitigation measures was evaluated through effectiveness evaluation. Conclusions: In order for the risk assessment procedure proposed in this study to be applied to actual work, it is necessary to obtain the consent of the person involved in the work due to the increased time for risk identification and preparation of the government quality assurance log, and a change in the information system that performs the actual work is required. Therefore, the authors of this study plan to actively perform internal seminar presentations and work improvement suggestions to apply these research outputs to actual work.

  • A vulnerability assessment is essential for the efficient operation of a physical protection system (PPS). Previous assessment codes have used a simple model called an adversary sequence diagram. In this study, the use of a two-dimensional (2D) map of a facility as a model for a PPS is suggested as an alternative approach. The analysis of a 2D model, however, consumes a lot of time. Accordingly, a generalized heuristic algorithm has been applied to address this issue. The proposed assessment method was implemented to a computer code; Systematic Analysis of physical Protection Effectiveness (SAPE). This code was applied to a variety of facilities and evaluated for feasibility by applying it to various facilities. To help upgrade a PPS, a sensitivity analysis of all protection elements along a chosen path is proposed. SAPE will help to accurately and intuitively assess a PPS.

  • This study aims to verify the practical effectiveness of learning management system (LMS) by introducing a LMS enhancing digital assessment utilizing automatic item generation in order to strengthen college student's mathematics performance. Teaching assisted with digital assessment in the LMS was applied to college mathematics classes, and the research question is whether or not students in the classes utilizing the LMS perform better than the regular classes. In particular, a calculus course, which is the foundation of important artificial intelligence technology in the future, was utilized in this study. The participants of this study were 248 freshmen in science and engineering who were taking calculus courses at a small to mid-size university. A total of 156 freshmen were selected after applying a propensity score matching method (PSMM), 78 from classes utilizing the LMS and 78 from regular classes without the LMS assisted with the digital assessment. As a result, it was found that there was a statistically significant difference in the math academic growth of students who used the LMS and those who did not. In other words, when LMS was used in calculus, students' academic growth was greater. The results of this study are meaningful in that they observed students' academic growth and confirmed that LMS enables a positive role in students' academic growth. In addition, if digital assessment is strengthened and LMS that enables individualized learning analysis is introduced and implemented in educational institutions, it is expected to play a major role in strengthening students' academic performance.

  • This paper deals with the calculation of vulnerable areas of critical components required for the assessment of naval ship's vulnerability. Taking into account the effectiveness of threatening weapons, the probability density function of damage was used to assess vulnerable areas or vulnerabilities of critical components. It is shown that the vulnerable area of critical component can be simply computed from the damage function. Considering the weapon effectiveness of fragmentation and explosion on the target, both Carleton Damage Function and Rectangular Cookie Cutter Function representing the probability of damage are applied to the vulnerable area assessment. Carleton damage function is utilized to describe the weapon-target interaction in the vulnerability analyses. A problem of blast effect against an assumed naval ship is chosen as a case study. Vulnerability is evaluated by applying the suggested method to the equipments arranged in the engine room of the virtual ship.
