The effect of robotic therapy on patient function after total hip arthroplasty due to developmental dysplasia of the hip: a case study (발달성 엉덩관절 이형성증으로 인한 엉덩관절 전치환술 후 로봇치료가 환자의 기능에 미치는 영향: 사례연구 )

  • Background: The advantages of robotic therapy have recently been attempted several times in the rehabilitation of total hip arthroplasty (THA) patients. Therefore, this study also aims to report a case of how robot therapy affects the function of THA patients due to developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). Design: Case Study. Method: This study used the A-B-A' design. Period A is before robotic therapy, period B is robotic therapy, and period A' is after robotic therapy. The subjects performed physical therapy and occupational therapy for five days each during the baseline period A and A'. In intervention period B, robotic therapy was performed for five days along with the baseline intervention. This study was conducted for a total of fifteen days. The subjects' sit to stand (STS), timed up and go (TUG), and 10 metre walk (10MW) were evaluated. Result:: STS and TUG were significantly improved in periods B and A' compared to period A (p<0.05), and STS was significantly improved in period A' compared to period B (p<0.05). 10MW showed no significant improvement in periods B and A' compared to period A. Conclusions: This study confirmed that robot therapy was an effective intervention in improving the function of women in their 30s who underwent THA due to DDH. In the future, a study comparing the control group should be performed.

A Fracture Mechanic's Study for Crack Growth Retardation Phenomenon using Effective Plastic Zone Concept (균열성장 지연현상에 대한 유효 소성역 개념을 사용한 파괴역학적 연구)

  • In this study, the growth rate of surface cracks (da/dN) during the retardation period was analyzed in terms of effective stress intensity factor range(${\Delta}K_{eff}^*$) obtained by using the proposed effective plastic zone concept. Effective stress intensity factors obtained by using the effective plastic zone concept were smaller than those obtained by using Willenborg analysis. On the growth rate of surface cracks analyzed by ${\Delta}K$, the dependence of overload stress levels appears. On the growth rate by ${\Delta}K_{eff}$ obtained by Willenborg analysis, there is a linear relationship with two different slops between da/dN and ${\Delta}K_{eff}$. However, on the growth rate by ${\Delta}K_{eff}^*$ obtained by the proposed effective plastic zone concept, there is a linear relationship between da/dN and ${\Delta}K_{eff}^*$ that coincides with the results of constant amplitude loading.

Effect of Artificial Pollination, Pollination Time, and Pollen Bulking Agent on Seed Formation and Fruit Quality in the Shelter Greenhouse Cultivation of Kiwifruit (비가림 시설재배에서 인공수분, 수분시기 및 화분증량제가 참다래의 종자형성과 과실특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to determine the effect of the artificial pollination on fruit set, seed formation and fruit quality in kiwifruit and to confirm the effective pollination time for optimal fruit set in the shelter greenhouse cultivation. Also, the effect of artificial pollination practice by the pollen diluent solution was tested. By artificial pollination, fruit set, seed formation, and fruit quality was improved both in the open field condition and in the shelter greenhouse cultivation. In order to find the effective pollination period (EPP), artificial pollination was carried out every day until 7 days after full bloom. Number of seeds and fruit set rate and fruit growth of kiwifruit were no significantly different until 4 days after full bloom (DAFB), but, those of kiwifruit from 5 DAFB significantly decreased. Consequently, the effective pollination period of kiwifruit in the shelter greenhouse was 4 days after full bloom. Also, artificial pollination by the pollen diluent solution was showed the similar fruit set and fruit quality compare to that by lycopodium powder. Accordingly, artificial pollination by the pollen diluent solution should be very effective practice for labor saving in kiwifruit cultivation.

Growth and Green Pod Yield by Sowing and Acclimation Dates in Autumn Green Pea (추파 풋완두 파종과 순화시기에 따른 생육 및 수량)

  • When sowing green peas in the autumn, proper seedling stands and growth quantity should be secured before winter begins. Also, for proper acclimatization, injuries caused by low temperatures, frost or high temperatures in the P.E. film during mulching, should be avoided during the regeneration period; that being early spring. The days required for growth in each stage in Yeosu are shorter than those in Naju because Yeosu has high temperatures during the growth period. Furthermore, in Yoesu, it was observed that there were more effective branches as well as effective and attached node positions on the branches. The first pods on the main stems and effective branches were observed to be higher than those in Naju. The number of pods per plant and the number of seeds per pod in Yoesu was greater than for those in Naju and the pod length was longer as well. Considering the missing plant rate, growth, and green pod yield, the optimum sowing date for the green pea was mid-November in both location. The stable acclimatizing date for the green pea was early March when the highest yield can be acquired due to a lot of effective branches and pods per plant and with the lowest missing plant rate and rate of injury in acclimatization.

  • In this paper, the unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equation coupled with energy equation was solved in order to investigate the thermal stimulation of continuous moxibustion using a commercial code (ANSYS-Fluent). In the simulations, various periods were selected for the continuous moxibustion, which was done by burning multiple disks successively. It has been found that the depth of the effective stimulation zone increases only when the replacing temperature is equal or larger than body temperature whereas the increase rate of the effective stimulation depth decreases as the number of disc increases. Further, it has been shown that the optimal period, for which the duration time of the effective stimulation zone is maximum, exists.

  • New diagnosing method o flood possibility was proposed. The method can be processed by following steps: first, decide if current available water resources are above normal or not; second, compute a consecutive period above normal; third, precipitation is accumulate through the period; fourth, daily depletion (runoff and evapotranspiration) amount is subtracted from the accumulated precipitation and remains are translated to one day's precipitation, which is called effective precipitation; and finally, effective precipitation index. the larger effective precipitation index means the higher flood possibility. This method has been applied to the flood event occurred in the central region of Korea at late July 1996 and compared with the study by Korea Water resources Association (1996). The new method is proven to be much faster in computation, and therefore much better in practical use for emergency situation than current rainfall-runoff models. It is because the new method simplifies some steps of currently used method such as parameter estimation and water level observation. It is also known that new method is more scientific than any other methods that use accumulated precipitation only as it considers the runoff depletion in time

Changes in Effective Component Contents of Apple Cultivars by Ripening (사과 품종별 성숙에 따른 유용성분 함량 변화)

  • This study was conducted to select cultivars and determine the harvest period suited for the availability of biological activities in unripen apple. To analyze effective the components in the apple (Malus domestica), three cultivars, 'Summerking', 'Hongro', 'Fuji' were harvested from 40~50 days after full bloom to harvest time. Soluble solid content increased gradually by ripening but titratable acidity decreased with ripening regardless of the cultivars. The total phenol content significantly reduced with ripening from May 30 to July 30 (p<0.05). Substantially, the total phenol content of 'Hongro' in May 30 was four times higher than that of 'Summerking' in the same period and ten times higher than that of 'Hongro' in August 30. The total flavonoid content reduced with ripening regardless of cultivars (p<0.05) and that of 'Hongro' in May 30 was significantly highest (p<0.05). The ascorbic acid content was the highest in 'Hongro' in May 30 (p<0.05). The contents of tannin and ursolic acid significantly reduced with ripening from May 30 to July 30 (p<0.05), while no significant difference was observed between Hogro and Fuji after July 30. Therefore, 'Hongro' harvested in May 30 was considered to be best in the utilization of the effective components of immature apple.

Effect of Growth Regulators and Chilling Treatment on Bulblet Increment of Narcissus pseudo-narcissus 'King Alfred' in Vitro (수선의 기내 구 비대에 미치는 생장조절제와 저온처리의 영향)

  • This experiments were conducted to investigate growth regulator concentrations and a period of chilling treatment for increasing the size of bulblets of Narcissus pseudo-narcissus cv King Alfred. Combination of 2.5 mg/L BA and 2.5 mg/L NAA remarkedly increased the diameter and growth of regenerated bulblets. Chilling period favorable for the growth of regenerated bulblets was found to be 8 weeks, and addition of 1.0 mg/L NAA alone to MS medium was the most effective for increasing the size of bulblet for the culture after the chilling treatment.

Integrated Production-Distribution Planning for Single-Period Inventory Products Using a Hybrid Genetic Algorithm (혼성 유전알고리듬을 이용한 단일기간 재고품목의 통합 생산-분배계획 해법)

  • Many firms are trying to optimize their production and distribution functions separately, but possible savings by this approach may be limited. Nowadays, it is more important to analyze these two functions simultaneously by trading off the costs associated with the whole. In this paper, I treat a production and distribution planning problem for single-period inventory products comprised of a single production facility and multiple customers, with the aim of optimally coordinating important and interrelated decisions of production sequencing and vehicle routing. Then, I propose a hybrid genetic algorithm incorporating several local optimization techniques, HGAP, for integrated production-distribution planning. Computational results on test problems show that HGAP is effective and generates substantial cost savings over Hurter and Buer's decoupled planning approach in which vehicle routing is first developed and a production sequence is consequently derived. Especially, HGAP performs better on the problems where customers are dispersed with multi-item demand than on the problems where customers are divided into several zones based on single-item demand.

An Effective Recruits' Assignment Method for Early Job Adaptation of Air-munition Maintenance Airmen Using Datamining Technique (데이터마이닝을 이용한 공군 무기정비병의 조기 숙달을 위한 배속방안 연구)

  • Recently, the military service period has been shortened continuously. Meanwhile, more skilled airmen are needed as the complexity of weapon systems increase. This phenomenon could lead to a disastrous result such as deteriorating the level of the readiness and the fighting power. We suggest a method to improve recruit's maintenance capability rapidly by assigning airmen to jobs appropriate to their characteristics using Datamining methods (K-menas and CART). We focus on the assigning method for air force's air-munition maintenance airmen since they are requested more skilled than other airmen. Grouping airmen with k-means method and devising classification rule with CART algorithm, we found that airmen's proficiency arrival period could be shortened by 1.79 months when they are assigned in the suggested way.
