A Study on the Space Plan for Complex of Elementary School and Elderly Welfare Facilities by Case Study in Japan (일본의 사례조사를 통한 초등학교와 재가노인복지시설의 복합화 시 공간계획에 관한 연구)

  • As a result of rapid aging speed in our society, many problems related to elderly people have happened in many parts of our society. Among them, supply for elderly facilities is one of the biggest problems. In downtown areas, despit of the high demand for elderly facilities, there is not enough supplement of them due to the lack of real estates. Considering the situations above, this study proposes multi generation complex which combining the school and elderly welfare facility. This combination not only brings financial benefits but also has positive effects on cultural exchanges between generations.

  • This study aims to conduct a case study of the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) outreach program development and their application. This program was operated by 184 middle and high school students at C University on October 2014. The major results of these studies were as follows: First, The theme of the outreach program consisted of four engineering areas, aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, architectural engineering, and mechatronics (robot) engineering; moreover, the materials for the students' workbook, the guidebook for teachers, and the program operation manual for staffs in a university were developed by working with four authors and ten subject matter experts. Second, the satisfaction level with the contents and activities was ranged from 4.24-4.31 out of 5 points. Third, the vitalizing activation plan was discussed for the sustainable development and operation of the STEAM outreach program.

  • Biotope area rate and ecological environment planning for school campuses are closely related, and we can say that ecological environment of a school that has high biotope area rate is of high ecological value. Taking that into account, in this paper, we are going to have a look at the relationship between the elements of ecological environment plan for environment-friendly schools and the biotope area rate, and we are going to come up with a method how we can increase ecological value of ecological environment and biotope area rate in a school campus through analyzing the actual biotope area rate of certified environmental-friendly schools.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a basis for planning of school foodservice facilities to operate with hygiene and efficiency corresponding a decrease of the number of students. This study analyzes the composition of space for foodservice facilities categorizing by the functions which are preparation area, cooking area, cleaning area, storage, and worker's room on elementary, middle and high school in Seoul Metropolitan city since 2009 that the Seoul School Health Promotion Center published a manual for school foodservice facilities. The calculation can be a basis for school planners and the general schools to use available area in each school and can manage the school usage plan appropriately. The number of students in each school has been regarded as the space planning element, but the number of students would considered with using the specific area and time.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the situation of present housing education and to plan the development of housing education which is valuable as a basic information adjusted a rural condition. The conclusions are as follows; The present educational contents of housing life don’t emphasize the social, economic, and psycological part, but emphasize too much the physical part. Especially, it deals with the general part for Citizens and doesn’t appropriate to the housing condition of the students in rural environment. Therefore, the present educational contents of housing life needs to modify.

    • The objective of this study is to propese a model of elementary school whih reflects the goal of the 7th Reform in Primary & Seconday School Curriculum and attracts prtvate investment through Seokwang elementaey snhool in Seosan. The chief concept of architectural planning on this school is brought out by the analysis of the 7th Reform which pursues a self-regulative and initiative education. Based on this analysis, a proper dimensions of each space are proposed and a new model of elementary school which includes zoning by grade in grouping of the classrooms and outdoor spaces is proposed. As there is no domestic example of the elementary school complex with attraction of private investment in public schools, the matters which must be consideed in planning of this complex are unvectigated, and actual plan for Seokwang elementary school is proposed.

    • Enough school facility maintenance data should be accumulated in a database or data warehouse in order to supply information about school facility correct maintenance budget plan, budget assignment, and cycle and rate of maintenance or replacement. For those, this research analyze the present school facility maintenance practice and budget and construction cost structure. In order to solve the problems, this study analyze the present practice of maintenance and replacement and obtain LCC(Life cycle cost) data, perform expert interview and then establish construction work breakdown structure of maintenance of educational facility by combining work breakdown structure(WBS) and cost breakdown structure(CBS).

    • School Design in the future will be more important on exterior space plan. However, there is no specific definition or boundary regarding exterior space, and related regulations and guides define the essential factors only. The purpose of this study is to have a guideline for the concept of exterior space in elementary school buildings, and deducted strong and weak points by evaluating exterior space based on each business methods. A result of this study can be suggest what improvements should be made on exterior space design of elementary school buildings by comparative analysis of positive and weak points for each evaluation factors.

    • This thesis aims to explore and suggest the concept of future schools that integrate school construction and design with curriculums in a consistent manner. To this end, a case study was conducted on the design planning process of C elementary school for 10 months from October 2013 to July 2014. Regarding the method of study, the aerial view and floor plan, which were created after much deliberation by various experts in curriculum and construction as well as school administrators and the management, were analyzed from the perspective of curriculums. This study hopes to lay out directions on how to create the school space in the future so that school education not only focuses on delivering knowledge and caring for students but also takes into account the environmental factors surrounding students - or the aspect of "spatial interaction."
