To develop tailored elementary, middle, and high school textbooks suitable for understanding the nuclear energy and radiation, quantitative and qualitative research was carried out in parallel, which included nine steps to ensure the validity of content and structure. The elementary, middle, and high school students wanted to acquire information used in their daily lives, including the definition of nuclear energy and radiation, principles and status of nuclear power generation, and information about irradiated food, medical radiation, and radiation in life. In the evaluation of the effects of textbook contents according to the educational requirements of each school level, high suitability frequencies (>80%) were shown for the human character, education goals, curriculum goals, evaluation method, and education time. At some levels, the high suitability frequencies (>70%) were shown for the education grade, education type, and textbook type.
The purpose of this study was to examine the maternal separation anxiety depending on the quality of day care and mother's self-esteem. subjects consisted of 187 mothers who had children from 60 t 36 months of age. the instruments used were the questionnaires which consisted of the Maternal separation anxiety scale(Cho and park, 1992), Self-Esteem Inventory(Coopersmith, 1967), and the checklist which consisted of the early childhood environment Rating scale(Harms & Clifford, 1980) and the Family Day Care Rating scale(Harms & Clifford, 1989). The datas were analyzed by the statistical method based o frequency, percentile, t-test, and one-way ANOVA. The main results were as follows : First, there was a significant difference in maternal separation anxiety by mothers' age and not by their educational levels. Second, there were no significant differences in maternal separation anxiety by children's age, sex, and girth order. Third, there was no significant difference in maternal separation anxiety by quality of day 2 care, size of group, and adult-child ratio. Forth, there was a significant differences in maternal separation anxiety by mother's self-esteem.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of HACCP education on improvements of knowledge in school foodservice employees in Gyeonggi-do, particularly in Anyang, Ansan, Siheung and Hwasung City. A first and second questionnaire was answered both before and after HACCP education that was directed by a dietitian. The change in HACCP knowledge after education, as compared to before, was statistically significant(p<0.01). Specifically, the average score after education increased more than 30 points in CCP2 and CCP6, and more than 60 points in CCP3. Most of the school foodservice operations performed sanitary education once a month; however, they did not perform regular HACCP education. The fact that the level of sanitary knowledge was different after HACCP education than before suggests the possibility of improving the sanitary performance levels of foodservice employees through continual education.
This study aims to explore the development and application of a simulated skills package designed to improve nursing students' knowledge integration and their system thinking(ST) skills about congestive heart failure(CHF) and to identify the change in students' ST levels using a ST-based learning approach. A simulated learning support package was developed by nurse educators and ST experts. The developed program was implemented with 35 third-year nursing students from S university in Seoul. The subjects improved their ST skills regarding CHF after intervention. Mean test scores for students completing the program were significantly higher than pre-intervention scores, including measures of direction of causality, polarity of causal relationship, feedback loop, polarity of feedback loop (reinforcing, balancing) and time delay (t=2.26~6.53, p=.030~p<.001). It is suggested that more educational programs be developed on various topics in order for nursing students to improve their ST skills as well as knowledge integration in clinical nursing practicum packages.
Water fluoridation in conjunstion with wide use of fluoride dentifrices has been a major factor responsible for the decline in dental caries during the second half of the 20th century throughout the world. The history of water of water fluoridation is a classic public health program leading to epidemiologic investigation and community-based public health dentistry program. Although other fluoride-containing products are available, water fluoridation remains as the most safe and cost-effective method of delivering fluoride to omost communities. regardless of age. educational attainment. or income levels,. This review deals with pros and cons of water fluoridation and prospective analysis of state-of-the-art on issues related to the use of fluoride. An "optimal" fluoride concentration of 0.7-1.2 ppm has been recommended for preventing dental caries with a minimal dental fluorosis and no systemic health consequences.
The spreadsheet Microsoft Excel is the most widely used mathematical tool in today's workplace. Moreover, it is also an outstanding means for developing a surprisingly wide range of creative and innovative educational uses within such areas as mathematical modeling, visualization, and instruction. The spreadsheet's format provides us with a tool that closely parallels the way in which we naturally carry out problem solving, while the spreadsheet creation process itself illuminates the underlying mathematical concepts. In addition, the spreadsheet's visual layout allows us to introduce a broad variety of challenging and interesting topics, and to design creative demonstrations through eye-catching animated graphics. The material presented comes from actual classroom mathematics teaching experience in both industrially advanced and developing nations. A series of highly visual interactive illustrations from mathematics, the natural and social sciences, computing, engineering, and the arts provide a number of usable examples. The material discussed is applicable at diverse levels, ranging from schools and universities through adult education and in-service teacher development programs.
The purposes of this study are to explore the management of Geang and to evaluate attitude of housewives toward it's management. The informations of this study were obtained from 720 housewives residing in various parts of Korea by using qustionaires during July 20 to September 10, 1985. The subjects were divided into several groups according to their ages, educational levels, careers, monthly incomes, numbers of family, areas of residence and types of housing. The $x^2$-test was applied to test the indivisual data, The following observations were made in this study : Soybean pastes and soy sauce such as Doh-an jeang, Gohoojeang and Ganjeang were prepared domesically in most cases and about 80% of the subjects performed this labor annually. Only 10% of the household used commercial Geang. The most widely used commercial Geang is Ganjeang.
Our mathematical curriculum has been revised frequently compared to another countries. The frequent revisions may mean that the current curriculum is not so complete in the selected contents of each grade levels. The idea is partially supported by the fact that the didactics of mathematics has both hypothesis-deductive and hypothesis-constructive property. Investigating the items which are used in TIMSS study and based on the relatively common curriculums of 40 more countries, the styles of them are a bit different from those of our textbooks of primary and secondary school. Hence, we consider that the construction and implementation of our mathematical curriculum may be a large scale of experiment for the improved curriculum carried by the nation. Additionally, we propose less compulsive curriculum than the current for minimizing the possible trial and errors.
The purpose of this study was to examine the role of cognitive conflict in the conceptual change process. Ninety-seven high school students in Korea participated in this study. Before instruction, we conducted pretests to measure learning motivation and learning strategies. During instruction, we tested the students' preconceptions about Newton's 3rd Law and presented demonstrations. After this, we tested the students' cognitive conflict levels and provided students learning sessions in which we explained the results of the demonstrations. After these learning sessions, we tested the students' state learning motivation and state learning strategy. Posttests and delayed posttests were conducted with individual interviews. The result shows that cognitive conflict has direct/indirect effects on the conceptual change process. However, the effects of cognitive conflict are mediated by other variables in class, such as state learning motivation and state learning strategy. In addition, we found that there was an optimal level of cognitive conflict in the conceptual change process. We discuss the complex role of cognitive conflict in conceptual change, and the educational implications of these findings.
As a result of conducting a 45 minute-long seminar on the principles, state of use, advantages, and disadvantages of nuclear power generation for Korean elementary, middle, and high school students, the levels of perception including the necessity (p<0.017), safety (p<0.000), information acquisition (p<0.000), and subjective knowledge (p<0.000), objective knowledge (p<0.000), attitude (p<0.000), and behavior (p<0.000) were all significantly higher. This indicates that education can be effective in promoting widespread social acceptance of nuclear power and its continued use. In order to induce behavior change toward positive judgments on nuclear power generation, it is necessary to focus on attitude improvement while providing the information in all areas related to the perception, knowledge, attitude, and behavior. Here, the positive message on the convenience and the safety of nuclear power generation should be highlighted.
