Analysts of Factors Affecting Households' Educational Expenditure and Satisfaction on On-line Educational System (도시가계의 온라인교육비와 교육만족도의 영향요인 분석)

  • The purpose of this research is to analyse the factors affecting household's educational expenditure on on-line educational system, student's recognition of better remarks effect, and satisfaction of on-line educational system. The sample of this study was 484 parents who had experiences of using on-Une educational system for their children being from preschool to high school. The results were as follows ; First, the household's educational expenditure on on-line educational system was affected from the sex, children's school level, and using on-line educational system or not. Second, the significant variables which affected students' recognition of better remarks effect were husbands' job, number of children, the first child's school level, households' monthly expenditure, students' remarks at school, and using on-line educational system or not. Third, the satisfaction of on-line educational system was affected from husband's job, using on-line educational system or not, and the students' recognition of better remarks effect.

Inequality of the Household Private Educational Expenditures by Income Classes (가계의 소득계층별 사교육비 지출 불평등)

  • This study investigates inequality of the private educational expenditure using the Family Expenditure Survey of 1990, 1996, 1998, and 2000. The major results are: first, inequality of the private educational expenditure has been relived between 1990 and 2000; second, despite decrease in household income right after the Korean economic crisis, the private educational expenditure has been increased in the households having middle and high school students; third, the gaps in the private educational expenditure between income groups are mainly due to the differences in the spending levels of the private education rather than differences in the percentages of households who spend any in the private education; fourth, in 2000, the gini coefficient of the private educational expenditure among households having elementary school student is 0.4832, and 0.6468 among households having middle and high school students; fifth, 30% of the households having middle and high school students who show the highest level of the private educational expenditure occupy 80% of the total private educational expenditure made by the whole households.

  • Study results showed most households spent money on private educational expenditures. Various sociodemographic and parents'cognitive variables were significantly associated with private educational expenditures; family income had the greatest influence. Seven clusters were identified on the basis of each percentage of expenditures allocated to four private educational methods out of total private educational expenditures. The resets of this study may be useful in understanding the private educational expenditures in Korea and have implications in the government policy decision-making on private education.

  • Recently, education is regarded as a service item and university education services are being exported abroad. In the form of educational export operations, export of educational contents and curriculum, specific consultancy projects for foreign institutes, installation of local educational facilities, or attracting foreign students are being carried out. Korea has the potential and competitiveness to export dental education. The advantages of Korea's dental education services, such as dental equipment and materials, excellent education programs, and high-quality human resources, will enable the export of education services in various ways. Establishment of educational infrastructure and educational programs for overseas dental students, export of educational consulting items, clinical training programs for foreign dentists abroad, invitation for international clinical workshops, dispatch of faculty members, exchange student programs can be considered as exporting dental education service items. Therefore, in a long-term perspective, it is necessary to establish differential and appropriate educational export plans.

Development and Evaluation of Consumer′s Educational Program in Using Credit Card (신용카드 사용에 관한 소비자교육프로그램개발 및 평가)

  • This study aims to develop an educational program in using credit card for undergraduate students. In order to achieve this aim, a processor has been followed. first of all, a fundamental work to select the educational contents was Preceded with a survey of learners' needs, case studies of counselling at Consumer Protection Board, and preceding studies. After choice of educational contents, learners' demands on how to manage the educational program was executed in advance. Second, reflecting the above mentioned educational contents, a concrete educational program was built. Based on the constructed plans, both preliminary training and main training were proceeded. Third, to evaluate the effects of the educational program, the knowledge difference, behaviors and attitude changes were all diagnosed. The result suggested that the educational effect was significant in all evaluations section. At last, final program of using credit cards was completed.

The Effect of Parent Education Program on Parent's Educational Views (부모교육경험이 부모의 자녀교육관에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study investigated the parent's educational views according to sex, age, educational level of parent, and social class. The study also examined parent's educational views resulting from participation of parent education and the types of parent education of marital partner. The subjects were consisted of 162 couples(324 persons) whose children were attending elementary school in Seoul. The instrument was "A tools of Parent's Educational Views Measurement". The major findings are: 1. Parent's educational views showed a tendency to be adult oriented rather than child centered regardless of parent's sex and age. However, the higher parent's education and SES are, the more child oriented views are. 2. Mothers who had participated in the specialized parent education were found to be child oriented educational views. 3. The fathers whose wives participated in the specilized parent education showed the child oriented educational views, probably because of mothers' influence on fathers' educational views.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between educational beliefs and teaching efficacy of early childhood teachers. The subjects were 291 early childhood teachers in Gwangju City and Jeonnam Province. The research showed that teachers' educational beliefs were significantly associated with teaching efficacy for the teachers who have more than five-year-teaching career. In addition, teachers who had maturational educational belief showed higher scores in general teaching efficacy throughout all educational level. Moreover, teachers who had maturational educational belief and interactional educational belief showed higher teaching efficacy scores in public and private kindergartens and private childcare centers.

Coping with Educational Disadvantages of Foster Children : Educational Expectations and Involvement Foster Parents (위탁아동의 학업성취향상 요인에 관한 연구 : 위탁부모의 교육에 대한 관심과 참여 중심으로)

  • This study used secondary data of the Illinois Subsidized Guardianship Waiver Demonstration, Chicago Public Schools and administrative data of the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services. Multiple regression analysis was the main statistical method. Results revealed a positive effect of foster parents' expectations on educational achievement of foster children without disabilities. Among types of educational involvement, 'direct educational activities' showed a positive effect on math and 'supervision reported by children' showed a positive effect on reading achievement. Among indices of the quality of relationship: the presence of kinship ties, permanence achievement, and level of affection between foster parents and children, only level of affection had a significant positive association with both math and reading achievement.

Analysis of Educational Expenditures by family life cycle (가족생활주기에 따른 가계의 교육비 지출 분석)

  • This study examined which factors influence educational expenditure by family life cycle. Data for this study were from the 2001 Household Income and Expenditure Survey and consisted of a sample of 2,681 households. The results showed that the households having high school students had the highest educational expenditure and the households having middle school students had the highest ratio of educational expenditure to consumption expenditure. The education of household head, family type, the number of children, the age of the youngest child, and family income had significant effect on educational expenditure in all the stages of family life cycle. The results of this study will be useful for financial management of households and give suggestions for the government policy on education.
