This study deals with how liberal education in engineering could be positioned properly in an era of convergence. Disciplines of Engineering has long been focusing on engineer as a 'technical profession' and the liberal education as an accessory to major study has been left behind. Under this understanding, the topic of 'convergence' in the 21th century engineering is hardly to find its way to the establishment into engineering education. This study suggests a direction for the reform of liberal education in engineering, which is expected to overcome the distinction between professional and non-professional aligned with major education and liberal one. For the reform, introducing and developing contents and methodologies considering convergence would open the door of engineering education to interdisciplinary study and to 'open-profession'. Next, the problem solving model in education will be very effective for learners to define the problem, to utilize various knowledges and to lead to meaningful solution. Lastly, we emphasize the changing context of liberal education and it is necessary to integrate 'technology literacy' into liberal education in relation to major study.

The aim of this study was to review the characteristics of teacher education curriculum and reform tendency between China and Korea. This study used literature analysis of various studies, catalogs, documents of education universities in China and Korea. The results were as follows. Some common features in the teacher education curriculum were observed, such as the purposes of education, constituent area of the curriculum, and subjects, such as pedagogy and practice teaching. Other differences included that China requires more credits for graduation than Korea, but the elective subjects are assigned fewer credits. In both countries, it is necessary to increase the relevant subjects (pedagogy, practice teaching) for the specialty of a preliminary teacher and establish a permanent system for the curriculum needs of students. In terms of reform tendency, both countries should change the training concept and teacher education philosophy, mainly on enhancing quality-oriented education, emphasizing the students' sustainable self development ability, as well as attaching importance to concept of lifelong education. These results are expected to be helpful in improving the teacher education curriculum in China and Korea.

There have been many achievements for 40 years since the introduction of compulsory health insurance. Despite many achievements, it has many challenges in health insurance. Aging, non-communicable disease, and low growth economy are threatening the sustainability of health insurance, and it is time to reform the health insurance. A long-term reform plan will be an absolute necessity for reform of health insurance and health care system. Health insurance and health care reform should be an extremely revolutionary content that completely changes the framework. This reform should deal with the philosophy of health, approach of medical education and doctor training, changing supply of medical service, the innovation of primary medical care, reform of public health system, the management of medical utilization, the integration of medical cure and care services, enhancing the benefit coverage, prohibition of covered and non-covered services, etc. Therefore, it is urgent to form a consensus on the necessity of reform, to establish the health insurance plan on this consensus, and to make efforts to make health insurance sustainable.

This paper intends to comprehend the background and various responses in sites of the university admissions reform in Japan which attracts the huge attention of educators in Korea these days. First of all, in order to grasp the roots of the reform, the historic development of various tests and university admission system was analyzed. Tracing the discussion of the three government committees, the process that the reform proposal was formed was also examined. After reviewing the formation and sample tests of the new university entrance examination and the introduction of the International Baccalaureate to Japanese high schools, several points to be considered in the reform of the university entrance examination system in Korea were suggested.

This study was conducted to review the educational reform of the Moon Jae-In government, to analyze the its issues, and to suggest the tasks for the successful reform at the time since the government of Moon Jae-In was launched just over a year old. To attain the aim, we first examine the characteristics of the Moon Jae-In government, who emerged as a candlelight revolution, and what it means in terms of educational politics perspective. Under this background, this study examined the direction, contents, and implementation method of education reform policy of the Moon Jae-In government. And the study discussed what are the major issues raised in the direction and contents, implementation method of education reform, and what are the future challenges for resolving such issues. In conclusion, based on the discussions of the issues and tasks of the education policy, in order to implement the new educational system in the future, the Moon Jae-In government should take into consideration the discourses related to vision and direction, educational policy to embody them. The results of this study are expected to give an opportunity to examine the direction, content and implementation of policy in the early stage of the government.

The reform of the mixed ownership system of vocational colleges in China is an important driving force in the development of vocational education. The purpose of this study is to discuss the operation direction of the reorganization of the mixed ownership system of vocational colleges at this stage in accordance with the guidelines for vocational education reform in China. Therefore, this study analyzed the necessity and existing problems of reforming the mixed ownership system of vocational colleges using literature research methods. As a result of the study, it was found that the reform of the mixed ownership system of vocational colleges should be continuously developed by preparing measures in terms of legal support, providing incentives, and improving the evaluation system. This study has academic and practical significance in that it suggests the need to reform the mixed ownership system of Chinese vocational colleges, analyzes problems, and prepares policy measures.

In both Korea and the U.S., science education leaders and specialists insist that there is a shortage of curricula to address the new national science education guidelines in support of reform. This paper addresses development of new curricula for science education reform in the hopes of facilitating further development of guideline-based curricula. We examine Korean and U.S. thematic-based (Korean Science Field Trip at Cultural Sites Program and U.S. Graduate Teaching Fellows in K-12 Education) and project-centered (Korean Teachers for Exciting Science and U.S. Foundational Approaches in Science Teaching Program) programs. Using the criteria of rationale for curriculum, content and scope, processes of implementation, and assessment strategies, we identify the curricular components that are common across four successful secondary science programs and determine which of these components address the national guidelines. Our findings indicate that common components of these four programs meet the expectations of the science guidelines being used to revamp science education in both countries. Therefore, these programs not only engage secondary students and teachers in practicing successful science education, but also lead to successful science education practices that can be incorporated in the future development of curriculum to support secondary science reform.

At the Information Age, the significant influence of computer education taking role of computer literacy education as well a information literacy education has been magnified. Since 2000, the 7th curriculum reform has been influenced on Korean education system. Therefore, this paper suggests to implement in textbook duvelopment of cumputer education based on the 7th curriculum reform focused on middle school education. It includes the design of textbook, its contents and organization, various teaching-learning situation method, and evaluation including real situational problems fashioned to the educational paradigm shift.

In order to find ways to re-use used Hanbok and activate Hanbok reform, it is necessary to investigate the current status and problems of used Hanbok and Hanbok reform in the domestic Hanbok market. The purpose of this study was to investigate the status and problems of the used Hanbok market and the Hanbok reform market through literature data surveys and in-depth interviews with Hanbok experts, and to study ways to activate used Hanbok and Hanbok reform. Based on the results of this study, as a way to activate the used Hanbok market and the Hanbok reform market, expand opportunities and create a social and cultural atmosphere for wearing Hanbok, and research on design, pattern, size, and materials. It also suggested the establishment of a systematic system for separate collection, reform, sales and management, the establishment of a central institution that manages and operates the re-use of used Hanbok and Hanbok reform, support for education institutions and programs for Hanbok reform, public relations, and changes in Hanbok production methods.

This paper summarized the changes in elementary school mathematics education that took place at the national level during the Enlightenment Elementary Mathematics Education period from 1876 to 1910. For this purpose, we divided the enlightenment period into three periods and examined major changes related to elementary school mathematics education at each period. The necessity of arithmetic education began to be recognized before the reform of the Taoist reform, and arithmetic education became a national curriculum in the beginning of the Taoist reform period. Particularly, during the reforming period of the Gap, the elementary mathematics textbooks of mixed Korean and Chinese were published. In the period when the intervention of the Japanese imperialism began, the arithmetic education has been reduced or weakened in accordance with the education policy of 'simple' and 'use'. It is also remarkable that an arithmetic book for elementary teachers was published at this time.
