A Design and Implementation of Web-based Learning System with Self-Study Plan (자기 학습 계획을 갖는 웹기반 학습 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • In the information-oriented society, the paradigm of education has changed from the existing traditional teaching-centered education to the learning-centered education. In the Web-based Learning System which an learning-centered educational environment using the internet, students should have responsibility of their learning as taking more opportunities to participate their learning positively, to control their process of learning and to evaluate their learning by themselves to improve self-directed loaming ability. In this paper, the Web-based Learning System with a Self-Study Plan to lead students to select own purposes and methods of the study and write a self_evaluation is developed. The Self-Study Plan is a guide to lead the process, an order to have an individualized study and a report to evaluate own study. In addition, the suggested System is designed through object-oriented method using the extension mechanism of UML to archive the improvement of reuse and maintenance.

  • As the recent paradigm of education changes to become learner-centered, there is an increasing interest in project based class as one of new teaching models. Universities are accepting this change and aiming at fostering human resources of next generations, who are able to create creative changes, and studies are being actively conducted to that end. This study suggested a learner-centered teaching model which minimizes intervention of teachers in conducting projects of main text contents in designed subjects. This study suggested support system for the suggested model project-based class, team organization method, various interaction methods of learners, and team work monitoring method of teachers. And the suggestions were designed and realized through project management applications using smart phones which are being used by a rapidly growing number of people recently.

A Study of Recognition About Students' Ability Grouping (능력별 집단편성에 대한 교사와 학생의 인식)

  • According to the paradigm of Neo-liberalism, the issue of ability grouping has grown more and more in education of Korea. And because of the influence of ability grouping, now ability grouping is enforcing partially in the subjects of English and Mathematics. But ability grouping is going to expand to the all subjects. So, it is very important that how teachers and students are recognize about partial ability grouping in the subjects of English and Mathematics. Because that information about partial ability grouping can guide direction for the future educational policy. The purpose of this study was to actually analyze teacher's and students' recognition of partial ability grouping in the subjects of English and Mathematics. To accomplish this purpose, 622 middles school students and 552 teachers were sampled. As a tool of investigation, questionnaires about teacher's and students' recognition of partial ability grouping had made by researcher of this study were used. And as processing of data, t-test, F-test, Scheff-test were used. The result of this study is as follow. First, teachers who are experiencing ability grouping recognized more negative about ability grouping than teachers who are not experiencing ability grouping. Second, students who have low ability recognized more negative about ability grouping than students who have high ability. Third, teachers who are experiencing ability grouping recognized more ineffective about ability grouping than teachers who are not experiencing ability grouping. Fourth, students who have low ability recognized more ineffective about ability grouping than students who have high ability.

  • This study is to design and implement Excel 2000 WBI applying the Cognitive Apprentice Model. Excel 2000 is the most used Spread Sheet program and indispensable for increasing teachers' information literacy. The Cognitive Apprentice Model is one of Constructivism learning models. Constructivism is a new educational paradigm and mainly applied in education fields. This WBI is designed and implemented according to the Cognitive Apprentice Model and composed of practical contents according to Constructivism learning principle which insists learning is occurred in real situation. For more effective interaction the teacher(computer) guides the learners individually and uses a bulletin board, E-mail and chatting room.

  • The change into the knowledge based information society requires a transformation of educational paradigm. Accordingly, intelligent learning and distance education are attracting a fair amount of attention. To apply the instructional learning method in this field, we need to consider a individualization of learning, as it were, abstraction of fact and path through learning, which is based on learner's traits, this focus entails a argument for individualized reasoning strategy. Therefore, in this paper, we design a learner's cognitive union, which is based on X-Neuronet(eXtended Neuronet), represent learner's hierarchical knowledge is able to self-learn, and grows adaptive union by proprietor. Additionally, we propose a individualized reasoning strategy, which relies upon learner's cognitive union, and verify the validity.

The Influence of Learning Styles on a Model of IoT-based Inclusive Education and Its Architecture

  • The Internet of Things (IoT) is a new paradigm that is revolutionizing computing. It is intended that all objects around us will be connected to the network, providing "anytime, anywhere" access to information. This study introduces IoT with Kolb's learning style in order to enhance the learning experience especially for inclusive education for primary and secondary schools where delivery of knowledge is not limited to physical, cognitive disabilities, human diversity with respect to ability, language, culture, gender, age and of other forms of human differences. The article also emphasizes the role of learning style as a discovery process that incorporates the characteristics of problem solving and learning. Kolb's Learning Style was chosen as it is widely used in research and in practical information systems applications. A consistent pattern of finding emerges by using a combination of Kolb's learning style and internet of things where specific individual differences, learning approach differences and IoT application differences are taken as a main research framework. Further several suggestions were made by using this combination to IoT architecture and smart environment of internet of things. Based on these suggestions, future research directions are proposed.

  • With the advent of ubiquitous society, the paradigm of education is also changing. In u-learning in ubiquitous environment, mobile devices such as cellular phone, PDA, PMP, UMPC and TPC will become important learning tools. Particularly if RFID, a key technology in ubiquitous society, is utilized in teaching-learning along with mobile devices, we can expect much more meaningful learning. The present study proposed four types of application of RFID to teaching.learning, which were RFID-card, RFID-book, RFID-label and RFID-test, and examined their possibility and effectiveness. According to the results of this study, technology was insufficient to support the application of RFID-label to teaching-learning and continuous research was required for modeling the application of RFID to teaching-learning.

  • The objective of this study is to perform the systematic research and to develop programs for improving the teaching abilities of vocational teachers, so that they can cope with the variant educational condition in accordance with the change of paradigm. Especially vocational teachers who engage in technical education can acquire new knowledge and techniques as well as grasp the trend of the new technologies required in industrial fields. In this study preliminary research for the capabilities of vocational teachers was held and the feasibility was investigated. Upon these investigations the essential elements for the improvement of vocational teachers' capabilities were derived. These will be used as preliminary data for operating curricula.

An Analysis on Teacher Awareness and the Status of Robot Based Instruction : Focusing on the School Curriculum (로봇활용수업에 대한 교사의 인식과 실태 분석 - 학교교육과정을 중심으로 -)

  • The aim of this paper is to provide teacher awareness and the status of robot based instruction(RBI) by focusing on the school curriculum. To gather that information, we conducted a questionnaire survey composed of six items to 116 teachers who have had experiences on RBI. The questions are about the fit school year for RBI, the fit subjects for it, the possibility of applying it to regular subject, the fit students' learning levels for it, the fit learning styles for it and effective methods to apply it to regular subject teachers. The result is as follows: (1) RBI is suitable for fifth and sixth grade in elementary school and all grades in high school. (2) It is suitable for all regular subjects in all schools. (3) It is more effective for the students who have average learning level. (4) It fits into introverted students more than the other style of learners. (5) It is likely to be more effective in supporting of learning and understanding of the contents than merely assisting the teachers' instruction. (6) The teachers showed positive awareness on applying RBI to subject of creative activities. The results are significant in relation to the following two views. First, we can get the positive possibility in applying school curriculum using RBI. Second we can foresee that RBI will provide an innovative paradigm to school curriculum. In addition, the results of this paper can be used as preliminary information for developing models and programs on RBI.

A Study on Personalization System for Improving Satisfaction in Web-based Education Environment (웹 기반 교육 환경에서 만족도 향상을 위한 개인화 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • The recent paradigm of web-based teaching-learning is changing into a direction that analyzes the learning patterns of learners on the basis of learners' ability, aptitude, request, interest, learning history, activity profile, etc. and provides adaptive environment with individual learners The present study analyzed learners' learning patterns using data on learning activities and developed a personalization system that provides learning environment adapted to individual learners. This study customized in three aspects, which are recommendation of learning path, recommendation of interface and recommendation of interaction, through Web mining. The personalization system developed in this study was proved to be effective in improving individual learners' satisfaction with learning in Web-based teaching-learning environment.
